Been real quiet.
I guess 'National Iced Tea Day' doesn't inspire a lot of enthusiasm.  :)

We need 'National Beer Day'. Is there such a day now? I don't know, I live in Alliance.
Thank you for your support.  ;D

June 14 is National Bourbon Day if that helps :)

Don't mean to beat this to death but, is there a "Frozen Margarita Day"? How about a "Single Malt Scotch Whisky Day"? Please excuse me, I lead a sheltered life. (Have you ever been to Alliance?).
🍺 🍷 🍸 🍹 🍾  😎

Aside from opponents (who HAVE to be there), has ANYONE ever been to Alliance? ;D

The silence is foretelling the future of this forum. It will return to being a Johnnie Smokefest or go dormant. Either way, sad...

13-0 against a totally defenseless team WAS rather unsportsmanlike.  Fortunately, the MIAC presidents don't have a vote.

I'll give the women's team a slight pass since it is the first game and goal differential can be a criterion for advancement.  But ONLY a slight pass! :P  I had no real problem with the first-timers scoring, but Alex Morgan scoring FIVE goals was definitely out-of-bounds.

Mr.MIAC

I don't give a sh*t about karma, but it's telling that I get dinged for pointing out that this forum is going to be far less active now that the Tommies have been booted. Sad...

I also don't really care about karma. Last year, I got 2 -k's for wishing the guys a "happy Father's Day". This year, I got 3 -k's for a Memorial Day tribute. Who knew? 😠

Chuck, there's nothing wrong with Alex Morgan scoring five goals. What is she supposed to do when she has an open shot ... kick the ball softly over to the nearest defender? In a sense, she wasn't just scoring them against the Thais. Her scoring five goals is going to give the Swedes and the Chileans something to think about.

You were right about goal differential playing a large role in motivating the U.S. to pour it on. Goal differential is huge in the World Cup, especially in the group round. And there isn't unlimited subbing, so it's not as though a team can back off by emptying the bench. You get three substitutions per match, and the U.S. used all three.

It's the World Cup. If you get there, you're supposed to be good. Thailand has no excuse; it's not some tiny spot on the map with only a handful of citizens. Nearly 70 million people live there. If they can't put together a respectable team out of a population that large, that's not on the U.S. -- that's on the Thais.

What I can complain about, and what Julie Foudy complained about in her post-match commentary, was the celebrating after the final goal. That crossed the line, and was totally unsporting.

Just because those were the most recent posts doesn't make them the actual posts that got smited, although I don't know what you could have posted that would lead to smites.

Of course you're right. I knew it could be for anything I've ever posted or maybe just me personally. I didn't care for the timing, however. Have a good one!   :D

Speaking only for myself, but I am currently up to my elbows doing "summer projects" and lurking. Currently I have the motor pulled out of my pickup and will be rebuilding it throughout the remainder of the month, and probably going into next month. Tonight I'll be out with upwards of 45 to 50 Cub Scouts and their siblings to launch model rockets with the local model rocket club - MASA. (https://masa-rocketry.org/) I suspect I am not alone with my personal distractions, making this forum a bit more quiet than it has been these last couple of months.

Probably true. I left a restaurant review on the USAS board just because we'd been in LaGrange. Summer doldrums. Though rebuilding an engine is always a lot of fun for me.

Oh, my son brought home his 1st grade journal.  It was entertaining to read his 1st grade reviews of Johnnie games from 2018.  ;D
