General football / Conference rankings
September 30, 2022, 08:49:51 AM
Greg did a fine job of  (re)ranking the conferences based on early results.  Here's a question:  regardless of their ranking which conferences are the most competitive inside the conference this year with multiple teams still in the running for an automatic playoff spot?

General football / some DIII summer thinking
July 05, 2018, 11:59:43 AM
Since we are now past July 4th, and with the season now approaching--but still plenty of summer remaining--I've been exercising my brain. Here follows in several posts some DIII team information.  NOTE:  I've done my best to be accurate.  If you notice mistakes, please help me correct them.
Today, I start with the best among Division III team results.
Teams with 10 winning seasons from 2008-2017.  My criterion here is that all sesaons must be "winning"; that is above .500.  Those with .500 seasons during this period are shown in a separate list.  So, here goes.

21 Teams over .500 from 2008-2017:  Centre, Delaware Valley, Franklin, Hobart, Huntingdon, Johns Hopkins, Linfield,
Mary Hardin-Baylor, Mt. Union, North Central, St. Norbert, St Thomas, Thomas More,
Trinity, Ct, UW Whitewater, Wabash, Wartburg, Washington and Jefferson, Wesley,
                                                               Wheaton, Wittenberg
       11 teams with all-winning or .500 seasons, with number of .500 seasons in ( ):  Albright (1), Alfred (1), Amherst (1)
                                                               Bethel (4), Central (1), Concordia-Moorhead (2), Framingham St (1), Middlebury (2),
                                                               Monmouth (2), Rose-Hulman (2), St John's (1)

More tomorrow.

General football / DIII football families
May 12, 2017, 11:15:52 AM
Over on the North Coast Athletic Conference board are recent posts about the Buresh family and Wabash football.  Another Buresh, the fifth to play at Wabash, will arrive in the fall as a member of the Class of 2021.  Five Buresh brothers will have played football at Wabash:  Tyler (DL), Cody (LB/DL), Ethan (LB/DL), Dylan (currently a tight end and a rising senior), and now Seth.  Quite a remarkable happening.
This leads to a question.  Are there other examples of as many as five siblings from the same family who played football at the same college?  More than five?  Four?
Or how about  four + siblings who played at different colleges?  (I don't imagine three siblings would be too unusual, but four or more is rare air I would think.)
