From what I have heard is that the issues with Northland has been circulating all winter. My question is why would they wait that long to announce a fundraiser with a short time limit if they needed that much money. Lot of people in Ashland aren't too happy about the situation.

I basically think Finlandia was the canary in the coal mine for Northland. Hard to get recruits up there and being the easternmost team in the UMAC lead to some really long drives (they are about an hour from UW-Superior on US 2). Really unfortunate though for them. Ashland is a really nice place, have been up there a handful of times.

They really do have a nice soccer/football stadium facility. Do recall the high school in Ashland uses it a few times to play home games (recently against rival Hurley).

Northland College in Ashland, WI is in trouble and needs $12 million by 4/3 to avoid closure: https://www.northland.edu/fund-a-new-northland/

Though it will interesting to find out who will host the sectional of UWW, Stout, Transylvania and Hope. I think Transylvania could host again but that means Stout has to fly in but I could also see Whitewater or Hope hosting since in theory everyone could bus to either site. (Transylvania 486 miles to UWW/495 miles to Hope)

Yeah. Because you would be flying at least one of the teams if it wasn't at Trine. Plus Platteville is a bit out of the way from a major airport without significant travel added on top of that.

UW-Stout 61
Puget Sound 40

Stout never trailed in the game shooting around 50% the entire game while limiting Puget Sound to 25% shooting. Blue Devils will face the defending national champs Transylvania in the Sweet 16.

Might swing over to Carroll this weekend for a few matchups. They have hosted a few big high school matchups this year so they are definitely ready for the NCAA's to come calling at home.

WLC gets shipped to Iowa to face host Wartburg in the first round.

Ironically this is only the third matchup WLC has against the UAA. Only had two games against Chicago in the early 90's and WLC won both those matchups.

WLC gets sent to St. Louis to face host Wash U. NGL I am intrigued by the matchup. Winner gets Illinois College or Dubuque.

Quote from: Captain_Joe08 on February 25, 2024, 11:19:29 PMHearing that there is a possibility that WLC could be facing Transylvania again in the NCAA's at Transylvania. I can see the logic there but I could see them being shipped to UWW or Carroll being a bit more likely. A glut of Midwest teams that can/most likely host is gonna cause some headaches to figure out who goes where in this region.

They won't be at Transy.  They'll avoid the rematch.  We forgot about it when we made the mock bracket.

Probably they will avoid it though but as stated it's not outright prohibited to have non-conference rematches. Though they did give the Pioneers one of their toughest tests back in December. (Though the temptation is getting too much to take time off Friday and get to a NCAA game up here depending on who is hosting).

Final from WLC

Wisconsin Lutheran 66
St. Norbert 42

Defense stood tall holding St. Norbert to 3-17 from 3-pt land. Warriors heading back to the NCAA Tournament.

Thoughts on the NACC Final.

Honestly I see this as a toss up. WLC beat St. Norbert in the lone regular season matchup but since then the Green Knights haven't lost since (WLC hasn't either). WLC's performance in the conference tournament hasn't been the best despite winning and they can't afford a clunky offensive performance against a hot team in SNC. I think WLC wins late but I could see the Green Knights pulling it off here too.
