Hoping that Alvernia will be able to hang with he Gulls and DelVal within a couple years.

Heading up to Reading tomorrow because they recruiting my daughter as a field hockey player. She has looked at CNU as well.

I am thinking about catching them at Widener later this year.  I wish them the best.

The wheels are really coming off for Salisbury.  I did not see that coming.  John Hopkin's QB is just picking apart the secondary.  Add a couple of Salisbury turnovers and you have a rout.  Wow.  Really disappointed for Salisbury.

I think Salisbury got a bad draw in the bracket. I think they could have hosted Endicott and Hopkins hosted RPI. Johns Hopkins is a very quality opponent and like I said, they'll be the best team we have faced since Whitewater. Then, if we end up beating Hopkins, it's to the Machine of Mount Union who will have seen the option for two weeks in a row, so the surprise factor is out the window. These matchups will test the resolve of the players and coaches. Overall, I'm happy that we get to face Hopkins, I'm not sure if we have played them before, always felt like they didn't want to play us because we were a State School and weren't considered "Smart" or "Established" enough to face us. Maybe it had (has) something to do with conference affiliation. I'll reserve my keys to the game for Friday.

I concur.  That draw sucked for both teams with the  joy of meeting MU in the second round.  I know I would be ticked if Wesley had drawn that......

Yeah, it is tough for sure.  I am filming for Coach Knapp at Dover High School this year and will probably hit the DSU games to watch Coach Az's offense in action.  It's definitely not the same though..... :(

I read about Wesley when it happened, damn shame. Great battles between Rowan and Wesley. Some blowouts, but all I remember were the nail biters. I wonder if this might have a positive impact on Rowan recuiting. I remember Drass [RIP] getting quite good at snatching talent from South Jersey.

A lot of that was Steve Azzanessi, that was his recruiting area and he followed South Jersey HS football fanatically. He is the OC at Delaware State now.

Interestingly, when Wesley beat Rowan for the first time in '14, I know it meant a lot to Joe Callahan, a Holy Spirit product. When I interviewed him afterward, I asked him what it meant to him. He said that he had seen how Rowan had advertised how "they were recruiting the best players in South Jersey." "I guess I wasn't on that list."

Jason - Any more updates on Wesley players and the whereabouts of the coaching staff heading into the 2021 season?

Here's what I have seen/heard:

Jay Holmes, linebacker from local HS Caesar Rodney, is headed to IUP.

Mathew Gore, D-lineman headed to William Paterson.

D'Andre Curry, D-back to Fairmont State.

Brady Walters, quarterback to Widener.

Mike Brewer, LB/SS type to Shippensburg.

DC Arthur Smith may coach LBs at Delaware State. Former assistants Steve Azzanesi and Jeff Braxton are already there.

Many of the juniors and seniors will walk on at Delaware State. I imagine so they don't lose credits transferring. I'd think FS Marcus Gaspard and All-NJAC corner Isaiah Mitchell are among those.

Interested as to what Dante Daniel, NJAC DPOY in '19, is going to do? Del State?

Also, QB Drew Fry did not come back to school for '20-'21. Not sure if he still has plans to play ball. Man, is he talented.

I think the coaching talent that DSU got from Wesley will definitely make them a better team.  Keep an eye on them this next year in the MEAC.  I also agree that Drew Fry needs to find a team.  He is really good and unfortunately, never got to truly spread his wings.  Without a doubt, he would have been on the list of Wesley greats.

Will do.  I already have seen a lot of improvement at DSU since Coach Azzenesi took over the offense.

I think d3jason qualifies as a Wesley guy.

"if most of the Wesley guys have left the board" not "if ALL of the Wesley guys have left the board"

Lefty, pay attention. Life is all about the details!! ;)

Spare me the lecture.

I didn't quote you or correct you.

All I said was that d3jason was a Wesley guy.

We are still monitoring. 8-)  From what I hear, some players are transferring to DSU.  No clue on who.

Thanks to Pat and Keith for a great Podcast highlighting Wesley football's proud history.  Listening to all of the other stories really brought the team to life if only for a final, short time.  Here's to the memory of Coach Mike Drass and everything that Wesley football was to the players, coaches and fans.  It was one hell of a run, that is for sure.

Mmmmmmm......Stevenson cancelled the Wesley game.  Not sure, but that may have Wesley's season.  Only time will tell.   :-\

Wesley takes their final road game 23-7 over CNU.  It was more of CNU gifting turnovers than it was Wesley playing well.  Lots of penalties, but that is expected this season.  It was nice of the CNU announcers to acknowledge the significance of the game and the impact that Coach Drass and Coach Knapp had on the sport.  Another last in the books as Wesley heads back home to play its final home game. >sniff<

Great to see that Wesley has one more home game to close out it's football history.  Stevenson will visit in the first week of April.  A Friday night game to boot.

Another last game for Wesley, this time against Montclair State. A good solid effort for the Wolverines today.  The defense really made a difference.....and having a good kicker didn't hurt either!  These games mean so much more for the players, coaches and fans.  Well done team!

Really proud of Wesley today.  They really gave Salisbury a run for their money even without a punter (the QB did the best he could, even if he knelt with the ball accidentally inside Wesley's own 15), without a kicker (with one kick actually going backwards!!) and a depleted defensive line that had no rotation.  I mean really, what would this team have been if the hatchet hadn't been dropped on the program?  I was stunned at just how resilient this team was with this being the last (?) home game in Wesley history.  Because of Covid, there were hundreds of people lining the outside of the fences including an entire section of ex-Wesley players cheering the team on.  Yeah, we didn't win, but losing to Salisbury 32-30 with a last minute failed on-side kick attempt by a Wesley offensive lineman of all people was pretty impressive.  I gave the Wolverine at the center of the field a heart felt pat and walked off for what will most likely be the last time.  You really don't want to experience anything like that yourself, trust me.
