Allen HS is where Kyler Murray, the Heisman Trophy winner played and led Allen to a Texas large school State Title. That HS has over 4,700 students in grades 9-12.

UT Tyler moves to DIV II and is to join the Lone Star Conference on July 1, 2019. They will compete one more year in the ASC.

I wanted to talk about the balance of the ASC.  All season long I had said there was no dominate team but a lot of balance. Because of that balance and beating each other I assumed that only the conference champion would receive a bid to the regionals. I was wrong and gladly so. This conference was the most balanced and IMO the the strongest in DIII.  We had 3 teams make it to the regionals. Concordia was the regular season champion. UTD the conference champion and UTT a regional and World Series Champion. Concordia had beaten UTT 4 out of 6 games they met this year. UTD beat Concordia for the Conference Championship and UTT had beaten UTD 2 out of 3 during the regular season. No other conference had such diversity in their champions. Congratulations to the ASC for being the best conference in DIII baseball in 2018.

The ASC has never had a world series champion, UT Tyler has a real chance. I expect this series to go 3 games.  Both pitching staffs are working on fumes and those on the staff with light experience will have to step up. The team that can get the most quality innings out of their strained staffs will emerge victorious. This is now the end of a marathon and who can survive.

Irrespective of what happens today, the two Texas teams represented the west region well. They both made to the bracket finals - final 4!

UTT wins again today 7-3 and is in the lower bracket finals. If they can win one of the next two they will play a best of 3 against the upper bracket winner for the national championship.  TLU won yesterday and is in the upper bracket. Thus it is possible that two Texas teams could face each other to determine the national champion.

Ralph that stat surprised me. I recall McMurry having some good teams, I guess I thought they made it to the World Series but apparently not.

Tyler banged out 16 hits including 2 home runs. Got a complete game out of their starter Sedillo saving their pen which they used heavily last weekend.

UT Tyler pulls it out winning 2 from Rhodes today. They were down 4-1 going into the bottom of the 9th in the second game and scored 4 for the win. This was not the most talented UTT team as it was only a 4th seed in its own conference tournament. It did play a tough schedule and held its own against ranked opponents. It had a never say die attitude that carried them through. Last year the team was on paper much better but went 0-2 at its home park as it hosted the West Regional last. Ironically it lost to Rhodes last year.

Unbelievable! UTT was running on fumes had to win 5 elimination games in a row and behind by 3 runs in the 9th!!

I hope their pitchers have something left for Appleton!

In the Central Regional, UTT came all the back through the loser's bracket in an 8 team regional and will play Rhodes tomorrow for the Championship. They avenged an earlier loss to UW Whitewater wining 4-1 just after they eliminated the top seeded team Webster. The played and won 3 elimination games in a row. Now have to win 2 more. Not sure who is able to pitch as they have already played 5 games.

UTT came all the way back through the loser's bracket and will take on Rhodes tomorrow for the Regional championship. Tyler avenged its earlier loss to UW Whitewater winning 4-1 tonight to set up tomorrow's showdown. Rhodes is the big surprise in the winners bracket. Both Rhodes and UTT had to beat the #1 and #2 seeds to get this far. Congratulations to both teams!

Good to see UTD win and get a regional birth. They have not been there in a while. The ASC was competitive this year with no dominant teams but good balance. CTX, UTD and UTT were all fairly equal. I believe UTD won 4 out of 5 against CTX this year. CTX won 4 out of 6 against UTT an UTT won 2 out of 3 from UTD.  Who was hot at the end decided it and UTD got hot at the right time.

Maybe just wishful thinking on my part but if CTX wins the ASC then UTT has a shot as Pool C. Remember they went 3-0 against Texas Lutheran and LaVerne earlier this year and played a more difficult schedule than either of those teams.  They went 3-2 in the tournament this past weekend loosing twice to CTX but also beating them once.
