Come on Jackets!! Take care of business ! Some kind of funny.

As a VWC alum/fan/x-basketballer, I am very content with the way in which Coach Macedo and President Greer have "leaded" us over the years.  That being said, I think VWC need an ODAC finals appearance to get into the dance.

Discuss.

oldfish, as much as I hate to say this vwc if they win on sat the 20th,and make it to the semi's at Salem they are in the NCAA. Then again winning saturday may be enough to get them in.

I wouldn't sweat the ranking too much. Fact is, EMU wins out, wins a couple of games in the ODAC Tourney and they will be sitting pretty in the NCAA Tourney.

Yes, that's true.  If the Royals win out and just get to the ODAC Championship game, then I think that they will likely have an opportunity to host two NCAA games in Harrisonburg.

I'm basing this on NCAA Rankings, which are the starting point for making decisions about tournament pairings and the makeup of the bracket (along with the all-important issue of geography).  This is the Regional Ranking from last Wednesday, before EMU's BIG victory over Guilford ....

South Region In-Region Record Overall Record
1. Guilford                 19-1                 19-1
2. Virginia Wesleyan 16-2                  18-2
3. Texas-Dallas          16-3                 17-4
4. Eastern Mennonite 12-2                16-3
5. Austin                     16-5                16-5
6. Mary Hardin-Baylor 15-5                15-6
7. Randolph-Macon     10-4                16-4
8. Maryville (Tenn.)     12-3                17-4

Based on games through Sunday, February 14, the next ranking (tomorrow) may look something like this ....

South Region In-Region Record Overall Record
1. Guilford                  20-2                 20-2
2. Eastern Mennonite 14-2                18-3
3. Texas-Dallas           17-3                 18-4
4. Virginia Wesleyan   18-3                  20-3
5. Austin                     18-5                18-5
6. Mary Hardin-Baylor 17-5                17-6
7. Randolph-Macon     13-4                19-4
8. Maryville (Tenn.)     14-3                19-4

EMU jumps to the #1 spot in region. You are right on, keep winning and Yoder Arena will host several NCAA Tournament games.  ;)

Interestingly saturday game between vwc , r-mc is not showing up on regional rankings. Both schools should have 20-4 records. Thay are showing vwc  at 20-3 r-mc at 19-4

Jackets up by 1 with 4 left in first half. Jackets have used 13 players already, thats to many.

Mr. Ypsi

Randy Mac and EMU both up narrowly early in the second half.  Guilford in real danger, only up 32 at halftime. :P

deangn

EMU pulls it out 86-81.  Bridgewater led by as many as 8 early in the second half, but couldn't hold on.

emufan

EMU escapes with a 5 pt victory over rival BC.

The Jackets season will end in Salem unless they win the ODAC tourney. Nice win for HSC.

stillfamily

EMU beats BC 86-81. EMU shot terrible from 3 (4-23)again and found a way to win. This is the second game in a row they have shot poorly and won. First game without Twine, but Eli Crawford stepped up huge. Eli had 20pts 7rebs. EMU will have to play much better D to win against better teams. That is where they miss Twine!
I remember the debate on Dom or Phillips, both had exceptional games. When it comes to the "E" Rating.

Phillips-33       26pts  13rebs  10-17fgs.  32mins

Trawick-19      26pts  4rebs    10-24fgs.  40mins

I said it would be a close game and wow it was!!!! Looks like RMC lost a close one to HSC. GC won big
