I would agree that his has been a rough start against some quality teams.  Inconsistent play, lack of a true scorer (depending on the night wetherbee is having), and turnover after turnover guard play have hurt this young team.  I'm interested to see how the conference plays out.

Regarding my pick 'em status...it's early boys...real early...and no not steve early!

I chose Wes Ladwig.  I feel he is more of the complete player.  He is a very smooth player that doesn't make mistakes and can kill you in many ways, especially at the end of a ball game.  His penetration, soft touch, the ability to distribute the ball coupled with his solid guard D make him most valuable to his team.  I think LU survives without Kroger and Grinnell without Grotberg.  However, I think Carroll would take a hit without Ladwig.  (I say this in no disrespect to the rest of Carroll's lineup.  I just think he makes the other 4 on the floor that much better).

I think the system doesn't allow Grotberg the same opportunity (I'm sure some will disagree).  However, I feel he would excel in whatever system you put him in.  I think it is an amazing feat in its self that an individual excels in such a team-oriented system.

Kroger, damn it was tough not to choose him.  The kid has skills and raw ability.  He can just plain fill it up.  If I could only choose two...

Here's to a great MWC season!

Knox falls to former MWC foe Cornell tonight.  Knox seems to have a very young team starting two freshman.  Turnovers coupled with offensive inconsistency was the difference in this game.

Interesting notes...two former Scots coaching each team in this game with former Scot's coach Glasgow in the stands.

Gym upgrades were much needed...you can actually see and hear a bit better in the gym.

Starting lineups with the lights out!?!?!?  might need to reconsider this move.

Hello compassionate MWC friends and fans...been a long time, I KNOW!!!...few questions...Does our conference do anything with a preseason All-conference team(s)?  if so has anything been put together yet?  Is there going to be a pick em league this year?

Looking forward to rejoining MOST of you for this season...sorry scottie...just kidding, I enjoy your insight and playful jabs.

Gentlemen,

I must say I was surprised a bit by the COY pick.  But the comment about his overall career record and last time he had a winning season is irrelevant.  This is for Coach of the YEAR, not career...I think he was an eligble canidate since his team was basically +4 (picked to finish 9th, finished 5th), regardless of record.  That combined with this his last year made it a more enticing choice.  Sure there was some excellent coaching this year, and other deserving coaches, but I have no problem with this selection whether it was the right or wrong one.  I know some of you have disagreed with picks in the past and will again in the future...ah the life of a fan in the MWC...good luck to LU...win it all and take home COY honors for D3!!!

"This room is relatively hamstrung by the fact that the fan bases of half of the MWC's member schools (Knox, Illinois College, Lake Forest, St. Norbert, and Carroll) are seldom or never heard from."

ah...but we are listening...
