I was going to try to watch the UWP game while cleaning the garage, but when I tuned in late first quarter, it was 21-0. I tuned out, had a quiet moment for the downfall of Thomas More and went about my work. What the heck happened?

They are very young on defense as far as experience at the college level.  They've started slowly two out of their three games, so I guess at least I can point to the fact they are learning.

Great game - enjoyed the 2nd half.  The officiating was suspect (both teams were hurt by the zebras).  I was curious with UW-P's obvious size advantage with their OL, why they didn't run the ball more... then I remembered Emendorfer was a Hanover coach when they were chuck-n-duck, as well.

The game really could've gone to OT - but the TMC defensive back made a great play on 4th down in the endzone.  Really, that was the difference - the play of the TMC defensive backs.  They made some plays and it was the difference.

While the video feed from Lincoln was uninspiring, I was more impressed with the offensive play of the Titans. First, they improved in their 3rd and 4th down conversions (7/15 combined). This is going to be a run first offense, so they have to keep the chains moving. They are still having trouble running the ball. It is still yet to be seen, if this is a product of the competition, or if they have taken a step back in this category. Radovich made some improvements. This may have been because he saw more practice snaps and was better prepared, or that he was just more comfortable with the speed of the game. He made good decisions and he made some good throws. The playcalling even gave him some shots down the field. One drop on a long ball, and he would've thrown for over 200 yards. Drops happen, and 200 yards isn't great, but it is a start. It will be interesting to see if Radovich has earned the starting job going forward. There still don't seem to be a ton of playmakers, and we will need to win games on defense. The thing is, if we score 20 points, we will win games with this defense. We may win some with less. We should be in every game, and every game should be a 4-quarter affair. Our defense is strong, and our specialists look very solid. I'm confident this coaching staff will put us in position to win every week.

Titan, is it clear that Radavich has won the job, or is Duranso hurt?

Nothing is clear to me. I haven't seen Duranso play since week 1. He's listed on the participation sheet in week 2, but I never saw him take a snap. I guessed that he was hurt in warm-ups because the Davenport radio crew clearly expected him to start the game. The Titans have yet to release a two-deep, so I don't know who served as the back-up QB this past week. In any event, Radovich has taken every snap the past two weeks, and he seemed much more game ready this past week (assuming he got the bulk of the practice snaps).

Some stats from the UWW vs. Middle Georgia State contest (fyi, the desktop D3 site doesn't list the game/stats in Scoreboard, but the mobile D3 site does).
-UWW QB's combined for 10-21 passing. Starter Cole Wilbur was 7-13. Both are surprisingly low numbers to me.
-Here's an odd stat. The 10 total completions went to 10 different receivers. Not one player had more than one catch.
-Alex Peete led all rushers with 93 yards on 12 carries. His longest carry was 16 yards. I love Alex Peete. I do wonder if there is something keeping him from breaking a longer run (other than the defense). i.e., is he hyper-focused on ball security, which may inhibit his open field decisions?
-Two QB's had runs longer than 16 yards and two RB's had runs of 15 yards, none had near the attempts.

Although I do enjoy the UWW student video production and announcing of the games, they sure are merciless when it comes to the opposition. They were heavily focused on UWW breaking their scoring record. When it comes to results of the other WIAC teams, they do rejoice at the news of a loss, and the impact it will have on rankings of the conference foes. Last week they were overjoyed with the UWO loss, and this week, with UWP and UWL.

They do a great job overall though-replay, sideline reports, halftime and post game interviews with da coach and a nice half-time show. Kudos to the crew.

Wow, none of stats would indicate a blowout of 73 points. Did they just play the game in Mid GA's redzone or something? How long did the starters actually play in the game before they were pulled out? Was it a positive learning experience for the players at least? Did they actually get better playing such an overmatched opponent?

Personally, I'd prefer them to play a D2 team and truly improve if they are not going to get credit for a win anyways when playoff selection time comes.

The game I went to against Concordia, a guy stood up in the stands and started yelling "Oshkosh lost, Oshkosh lost!!!!". I don't think he got the reaction he expected from everyone as no one seemed to care. I should have told him to sit down and that a non-conference loss to UWO meant absolutely nothing to UWW.

MGA had a total of 1 net yard by the end of 3Q. A productive 4th Q got them well into double digits.

This game was stupid. Next time, just play the Whitewater Whippets, or maybe suit up the marching band -- at least you won't have to pay them to make the trip.

Generally speaking starters played a quarter.  Second/third guys played the second quarter and into the third.  After that it was most everybody else. For the most part we had fairly short fields.

In a real sense scheduling these guys was an act of last minute desperation.

I believe it was a positive learning experience for the players.  It's not like MGSU didn't have anyone who could play. According to their coach, they are transitioning to NAIA, so they do have recruited players and have for quite some time.  Obviously, there club status does them no favors in terms of publicity, so information can be a bit hard to come by.  But they do find some players who can play. I couldn't find any quotes from their current coach Kiwaukee Thomas.  However, their previous coach had this to say about the program in December of 2016:

""I would say that we have a lot of kids who did not have a chance to play college football for whatever reason, so they came here to play club football," Mock said. We played Point University this year, which is an NAIA team, and we played them close the entire game, so I would say we are at the NAIA level of competition. But sometimes I have players fall in my lap that are much better than that level. Some kids get overlooked in high school, and this kind of football can help them move on the D1 or D2 football."

I think their lack of cohesion led to the final score more than a blatant lack of talent.  Their defense is definitely ahead of their offense in terms of development.  They had some athletes on that side of the ball, especially in the front seven.

Long answer to a short question but I do think it was good experience, especially for developing our young guys.

Interesting that you bring up UWW TV - I have a lot of comments about that subject. I have to rely on UWW TV & have for over 10 years, if I want to see the game. I think I've seen everything when it comes to UWW TV football, basketball, and the occasional baseball game - the good, the bad, the ugly. This year the camera work has been pretty good. They have added a new camera placement at ground level which shows a nice close-up change of pace. They do tend to miss long pass attempts along the sidelines from their high camera, but since Cole Wilber is rarely on target anyway, not much is missed. I have a differing opinion regarding the announcers, however. I realize they are students learning the craft, but none of the them, especially the sideline guy and the pre-game/half-time crew seem to have much knowledge of football. The guys in the booth take the idea of impartiality to an extreme and have for the past couple years - much of the time, they appear to root for the visitors. They get overly excited over routine plays, which gets annoying to listen to. And it's like one cliché after another. Boring! I guess, in a way, they are just like the pro's.  Also, I sure wish the production provided a way to shut down the close captions that is constantly being shown on screen. I don't mind the captions in a noisy bar or restaurant. But in my home - why? Give us a way to shut it off in streaming mode. If is wasn't bad enough having to listen to them, you have to read their words too...brutal!! I do like the low, low cost to tune in, though!!  ;D

There is no way that Linfield is ahead of Oshquash in the poll... our offense isn't clicking on all four cylinders...

I haven't seen UWW TV, but the bar is set pretty low for the announcers at most WIAC events I've seen, or for that matter, any D3 telecast. However, the whole notion of being able to watch live-streamed WIAC and D3 sports, at home, on my SmartTV, is entirely awesome.

But Oshkosh's is?  ???

No, sir. We're running on a 2-cylinder Honda motor borrowed from a lawnmower. But we've got an extra week to prepare for the WIAC slate. With this defense, we can compete. Hopefully the offense will come along like Coach predicted before the season. My Saturdays and Sundays (this week it was Monday) have become very familiar. I watch the Titans and Bears each day and wonder if each team will find enough offense to escape with a win when their defense keeps them in the game.

Excellent comparison.
At least the Bears can claim the greatest opening drive offense in the league- points and creativity.
