Hey Q, or anyone else that was at the IWU game today, was the reason for Keelan's off game today because of his flu or was there somethng else going on in the game.  I was just curious if Wabash was able to run some sort of defense to stop him or had some matchup working well or if it was just that he wasn't feeling well and didnt have any energy.  Thanks.

Augie 79
Clarke 73

Augie Stats:

Harrigan  -  28 pts, 7 rebs, 9 of 13 shooting, 4-5 from 3-pt
McAdams - Thornton  -  19 pts, 8 rebs, 8 of 13 shooting
Dain Swetalla  -  14 pts, 8 rebs

Augie shot 57.1%, 5 of 8 from 3-pt....only 8 bench points
No one over 13 minutes off the bench
Augie held the rebounding edge 38-25

With about 10 minutes to play, Augie broke the final tie in the game and led between 3-9 points the rest of the way

I will pick Puget Sound for the D3 level, but overall, I pick D2 Virginia Union

That RMC-Chicago team looks pretty tough just based on what their website says about the high school accolades of several of their players.

1 First-Team McDonald's All-American
2 Top 100 HS recruits

These 3 guys are either juniors or seniors.  Who knows though, they did lose 4 of 5 starters including a 2-time conference player of the year and an All-American from a 30-5 team.  But then again, they did have 6 players averaging over 10 points last year and as a team, they averaged just over 90 ppg.  Should be interesting to find out how that game goes, Hanover versus a presumably high-powered, athletic offense that loves to shoot the three (over 20 attempts per game last year).  According to last year's scores, they were about 5-10 points better than St. Ambrose, Olivet Nazerene, and St. Francis

Since I am now attending the University of Kentucky, a little while ago, I was reading a statement put out by the NCAA and the University regarding the eligibility of Randolph Morris, a UK basketball player.  His case does not relate to Arnold's at all, since his case stems over hiring an agent, but in the statement, they outlined some general guidelines that the NCAA uses to suspend players when there is monetary gain involved.

Here is an excerpt from that article...

QuoteFor violations where the benefit is less the $100 the condition would generally just require repayment.  For violations over $100, repayment would be required and the student-athlete would be withheld from competition based on the following:

$101-$299 = 10 percent withholding

$300 - $500 = 20 percent withholding

$501 and over = 30 percent withholding.

These withholdings would exclude exhibition contests.

They also said that they do look at things on a case by case basis to either increase or decrease the suspension according to the guidelines.  I personally think these are sorta harsh but who knows.  Just thought some people might be interested in this.

John_teague...I just wanted to clarify what I meant by my comment on the impact of losing Matt Arnold for the first 8 games.  Yes, it will hurt them, but I dont think it will be a major obstacle to overcome by this stacked IWU team.  Matt Arnold is a very good player but if you look at his role on the team, then it seems that losing him for 8 games may not have as a big effect on IWU as it would on teams with less talent.

Last year, Matt scored 6.1 ppg, 6th on the list of returning players.  Therefore, from the scoring standpoint, IWU should not suffer much in my opinion.  He did have the 2nd most assists on the team, but then again, you got Dauksas so that shouldn't be the biggest worry in the world.

The team may suffer a bit but if he is needed as the backup point guard, I know Dauksas is capable of playing a few more minutes per game than expected (he did play 35.0 per game last year).  Once again, bad break for Matt Arnold, and hopefully no one takes this post the wrong way...I'm not trying to diminish the effectiveness or talent of Matt

Sorry to hear that about Matt Arnold, that is truly an unfortunate situation.  If you care to comment Q, what was the NCAA rule he broke?  I would assume it had to deal with getting his trip paid for by the school but maybe that isn't the case.  But as you have already said, horrible for Matt himself but shouldn't affect the team to a great deal since they have the depth to cover for him.

Hey everyone...I'm from the land of the CCIW and recently moved to Lexington.  I was curious about Transy.  I see they are playing Wittenberg the weekend after Thanksgiving.  I was just curious what the Transy arena is like and how well they draw.  Also, since Witt isn't more than 3 hours away, does Witt travel well or doesn't anyone know.  I'm just curious if this game would be a situation where getting in to the game could be difficult.  I know back in the CCIW, at team like IWU can fill a place with fans at the opposing arena...just curious how things are down here.  Thanks

Couple questions about the upcoming season for some CCIW teams

First, haven't been in here for awhile so I probably missed it or just dont remember, where did Kent Raymond go?

Secondly, I don't know much about any of the teams in the CCIW except that IWU will be amazing, Augie should continue to improve upon last year and Elmhurst shall be good again.  Does anyone have any info on how teams like Wheaton, Carthage, and North Central will be.  I assume Wheaton will be much worse than the past few years.
