The NCC kicking game has been really shaky all season, 15 missed XP for the season.  h....

After further review I think this is the reason NC went for two points after the last touchdown.  If you're NOT confident in your kicking game (a logical feeling based upon season results) and you're VERY confident in your offense (a logical feeling based upon season results) then Brad Spencer's decision is understandable even if you don't agree with it.

Agree.  If I'm in his shoes, I'd much rather put the game on my Gagliardi winning athletic QB instead of a kicker that I don't trust.   Now if you want to nit-pick the call of running a QB sweep into the boundary then I'm all in.  That play is a much better choice to the wide side where he has more room to maneuver.

With that run it's over.  Congrats to Cortland.  And yes every Mount fan, player and coach should be puking right now.

Mount would have been run off the field by either of those teams

Cortland put up 58 points and 648 yds.  That's a really tough pill to swallow after 20 pts last week.  It is what it is.

Cortland was 9 of 9 in the red zone....oh my....

I'm just a lowly accountant but I believe even if those were all FG that's more than 20 points.  I'll double check on the 10 key though.

As an engineer, I can confirm your FG math is correct.

I knew this day was coming when the LK shine is gone.  Just never expected it to be to an Alma.  And one that gave up 58 to Cortland.  That's an ugly way to die.

If Mount is to win #14 tomorrow night, it's going to take a 1993-esque performance.

As someone who saw that Mount season up close and personal, and that game up close too, the only thing Roy Hampton's availability would have done was increase the final score.  The margin would have been the same.  Mount toyed with Trinity in horrible wind conditions and Hampton doesn't change that.

Mount Union was going to win that game even if Roy Hampton quarterbacked.

And win it easily.  Trinity was way over matched physically.

For all Mt. Union fans making the trip to Doylestown this weekend - i hope this link comes through "ONLYINYOURSTATE.com" - a write-up for Doylestown.

After attending the last two Raider playoff Games, they were much sharper and executed better. The play calling and use
of personnel far exceeded the JCU and BW games. Agree, they may be the fastest team of the final 8. They
will need to play aggressive for all 4 quarters. If they play to their potential then a trip to Annapolis is very possible.
My worry is that of Aurora, that can win on Saturday. The question is will the NCAA allow a Mount host for the
semi-finals if the win on Saturday. :-\

Mount is faster than most, but that moniker belongs to MHB.

oh of course, it all comes down to Strength of Schedule.  Those Middle Atlantic teams play such a harder schedule than the OAC, dont get me started on Wartburg.  Those Iowa teams are so much better than the Ohio teams, just check the numbers!

I can't comment on the average team from the Middle Atlantic, but the OAC has sucked as whole for quite a while now.  The heyday that we all remember of the Tom Arth JCU teams, Dan Larlham BW teams, Jamal Robertson/Jason Vagedas led ONU teams or the decade of Rocky Pentello at Capital are a distant memory.  It's been a long, long time since the OAC provided a team that was of Final 8 caliber other than Mount.  And that fact hasn't helped their preparation.

Speaking of being missed, whatever happened to HScoach?

I hop on every once in a while to see what's going on.  Haven't been to a game in a couple years and don't have anything to add.

My take on MHB this year, and in previous years too, is pretty simple.  They're supremely athletic but not very well coached.  They win because they're simply bigger and faster.  Kind of like your best city high school teams.  Not clean or precise, just big and fast.  If you can stalemate them at the LOS and not get blown away over the top individually you'll be fine.  Otherwise it can get ugly.

My thinking is that more us locals go, the more likely Canton is to host again in the future.

30 mph winds + Pouring down rain + 17 rushing attempts = loss

Granted we were spoiled for decades by LK's mastermind, but that's not a winning game plan.  And we all knew that mid-week.

Nor is that caliber of QB play.  If Plunk was scared to take a hit against NCC, what would he have looked like against the quality of athlete that UWW or MHB bring.

Oh well, I get to attend the Stagg next week as a casual observer.

The D3 Braintrust are all picking NCC:

Keith:   42-20
Ryan:   31-24
Pat:      41-27
Adam:  31-27
Frank:  37-24
Greg:   38-20

2 to 3 score difference is what I'm expecting too.  Not saying Mount can't win, but it would be a shock.

This Mount offense isn't nearly as good as 2019.  If Usee's assessment of NCC is accurate they win comfortably.  Especially with the weather forecast of rain and 20-30 mph winds.  Plunk doesn't have Ballard's gun to cut thru it and the Mount run game is average at best.
