The final week of the 2017-18 season is upon us. In a week's time, the topic will be who has punched their tickets to the NCAA tournaments and who is hoping to get selected. This week... we don't know many of the answers and some questions have yet to be considered.

url=http://www.d3hoopsville.com]Hoopsville[/url] returns to the air LIVE this Sunday night with a jam-packed, and super-sized, edition. Dave welcomes guests from around the country and looks at a lot of the conference tournaments which are getting underway. Can some of the top teams take advantage of home-court advantage? Who may surprise? Who do some NOT want to see lose if they hope to make the tournament themselves?

Hoopsville is presented by D3hoops.com and airs from the WBCA/NABC Studio. You can watch the show LIVE starting at 7:00 p.m. ET here: http://bit.ly/2EyN7G9

It will be interesting to see if UW-Superior can 4-peat next year after losing four starters, including 3 time POY Hailey Kontny.
Hannah Norlin is a good player to start with , though.

Bethany Lutheran defeats UW-Superior to end a 53 game conference winning streak. It is getting crowded at the top of the UMAC.

This is it! The regular season is over. The conference titles have been handed out and 86 teams know they will be playing next week in the NCAA Division III men's and women's Championship Tournaments!

However, 42 slots need to be filled. Which programs have best positioned themselves to selected to play for a national title?

It is the biggest show of the year. Bubble teams watch anxiously. Rivals watch wondering if their rivals will make the event. Others watch because ... this is one of the best nights of the entire season.

Tune in a special episode of Hoopsville where we will make our mock selections of who will be in and who will be left out of the DIII national tournaments. Our teams of experts will make the picks using the same criteria the national committees consider.

Plus, hear, one last time before the brackets are announced, from the national committee chairs who discuss how this year's rankings and process have worked out. And hear from some teams who have already punched their tickets to the tournaments - many for the first time in program history!

Hoopsville is presented by D3hoops.com and airs from the WBCA/NABC Studio. Sunday's special will hit the air at 6:00 p.m. ET right here: http://bit.ly/2XuWjWa (or via Facebook Live or Periscope simulcasts).

2019-20 UMAC Women's Basketball Preseason Coaches' Poll

1. Bethany Lutheran - 60 points (5 First Place Votes)
2. Wisconsin-Superior - 57 points (2 First Place Vote)
3. Minnesota Morris - 52 points (2 First Place Vote)
4. Northwestern - 45 points
5. St. Scholastica- 33 points
6. North Central - 31 points
7. Northland - 19 points
8. Martin Luther - 15 points
9. Crown - 12 points

Is there a new Queen to the throne for women's basketball in the UMAC? The UW-Superior Yellowjackets had won five consecutive regular-season conference championships in the UMAC and hadn't lost a game in conference play in their history in the league until last season. Now they are the 2nd choice in the preseason polls. Times they are a changing in the UMAC.....or are they? Stay tuned.

It will be interesting, that's for sure!

The UMAC Women's basketball teams will tip-off their season with a total of 12 games played Friday and Saturday.

Bethany Lutheran will open play at home against St. Olaf on Saturday. The game sports a match up of two very good guards in Bethany Lutheran's Abby Olson (18.5 PPG) and K'Lynn Lewis (13.8 PPG) who was MIAC Co-Rookie of the Year last season for St. Olaf. It is not often that I think that a UMAC team will top a MIAC team in much of anything, but this is one of those times. The difference maker here may well be Bethany Lutheran's post player Hanna Geistfeld who average 15 points and 7 rebounds a game for the Vikings last season. Should be a very good game.

Wisconsin-Superior opens play at Wisconsin-Stout on Friday. This will be a stiff test right out of the box for the Yellowjackets, UW-Stout posted 18 wins last season and reached the semifinals of the WIAC Tournament. Wisconsin-Superior returns All-UMAC selections Eva Reinertsen and Emily Carpenter so the cupboard is not empty up on the lake just yet. Another that should be a very good game.

Minnesota-Morris opens with Concordia-Moorhead on Friday. This is another game where a UMAC team may knock off a MIAC team. M-M returns a strong group of veterans that went 12-4 in conference play last season. Concordia may be very young this season.

Northwestern gets the acid test for them by hosting Bethel on Friday night. Rio Landers and Kelsea Lund return for Northwestern, but the Royals look fairly salty this season. Three time all-MAIC Forward Taite Anderson (16.7 PPG) is back to lead Bethel this season and has a nice group around her.

St Scholastica opens with Wisconsin-Eau Claire at home on Friday. The Saints dive into the deep end of the pool right away. Kaylee Kennedy who averaged over 13 points a game will lead her Saints team, but UW-EC counters with WIAC Player of the Year, senior guard Hallee Hoeppner to lead the Blugolds.

Crown will open with Edgewood on Friday and play Hamline on Saturday, both games are home games for the Storm. These are two difficult foes to start the year for the team picked 9th in the UMAC coaches poll. Edgewood was 14-11 on the season last year and Hamline was 13-12 in the always tough MIAC.

North Central will open on Saturday afternoon and play Edgewood who will be going on short rest after their game Friday night with Crown. The Rams return UMAC Freshman of the Year Naomi Hagstrom and Allison Bulthuis (11.5) and could be a much improved team this season. Should be an interesting game to keep an eye on.

Martin Luther will open at Carleton on Friday and then travel and play Coe on Saturday. Martin Luther is near the bottom in their coaches poll and Carleton is at the bottom in their coaches poll, but the difference between the two conferences is sizable at times. Martin Luther is going to count on a large number of freshman this season and how that turns out...??? Coe was 15-11 in the ARC last season.

Northland travels to Milwaukee and plays Mount Mary on Friday and Alverno on Saturday. These teams do face each other often as non-conference foes and most years they are evenly match competitive games. Their is no reason to think this season will be any different, Northland lost their 2 leading scorers from last year and it will be interesting to watch to see where the point will come from this season.

I want to give a shout out to Coach  Grove at Mn-Morris and Coach Deadrick they were both terrific to my daughter during the recruiting process.

Keep an eye on JAY KWATEH at Minnesota Morris. She is one of my players I coached during her youth.  She wont be their best player yet but she will be their best athlete, She has calf's of a Olympian and can jump out of a gym. Plus her and her family could not be more kind and great people.
