Yikes... poor Willamette... their Board of Trustees and Administration need to make a decision to give football the support that it needs as it has gotten ridiculous.  I feel for their players and coaches.

What in the world is going on with our kick-off's and coverage?  We have consistently given up entirely too much yardage on kick-offs.  The kicker is inconsistent.. some kicks are deep... others are short, others are line drives... coverage is spotty... I have to imagine it has been a point of emphasis without any improvement... that stuff will kill us in the playoffs...

We did what was expected against the Bearcats... need to get a good week in for the Pios...

Finally... finally... finally a game where the Cats put it together on both sides of the ball with zero selfish penalties... it has gotten to the point that at the end of each play I keep looking for a late flag being thrown for one of our guys getting an unsportsmanlike penalty, especially from two of our receivers... but, both of them were almost on their best behavior. If Linfield plays like they did on Saturday then they are going to be trouble in the playoffs especially if Swanson can come back and be effective.

Our kick-off coverage needs work as does the kick itself... not ever sure what the kicker is trying to do with the ball... kick it deep... kick it high and short... what exactly.. The 2nd punter did a great job as the starter has been all over the board with reliability...

Huge game with Fox coming up... hope that the guys play with the same level of intensity and discipline that they showed vs the Lutes.

No matter what happens in OT... great game by both teams.

Great season by the Cats to go 8-1 with a very difficult first month with two long road trips back to back and no home games until November... The NWC as a whole is down and week to week it is odd.. LC handled Pacific, UPS, Willamette, Lewis & Clark with zero issues but struggled in the first half against PLU, all game vs Fox, and parts of the game vs Whitworth.  There hasn't been a good 4 quarter game versus a decent opponent... but UPS wasn't bad against other conference teams and got destroyed by us so I just don't know...

We do get every teams best effort which makes  a difference.

Being down two of our top 4 receivers won't help with Togerson and Wood likely out.  Need people to step up.  We also need guys to play disciplined football and quit the yapping and posturing... I so wish that the officials would simply throw a flag for unsportsmanlike behavior each time a coach or player stepped over the line.  Coach Smith should get a penalty damn near every game and one day his behavior is going to bite us in the butt with a 15 yarder.

His being undisciplined leads to players being the same way as they are modeling his behavior.  We had a player block a guy in the back which for some reason wasn't called and then on the next punt return got in a Fox players face and taunted him.  Both time not a coach said anything to the player... We need to get back to the day of letting our play speak and let the other team do all the bush league stuff.

What a way to find a way to win!  Thought that we were cooked after the pick-6 to put them up 10 but our d kept us in the game and the offense came to life...

We need a coach who is in charge of calling TO's... down distance time... we almost cost ourselves the game with the Redlands-esque clock mgt at the end of the 2nd quarter... call your final TO with 27 seconds as that gives you the RPO with one TO left... don't waste 12 seconds then call a TO.

I do not understand how UPS beat Whitworth unless having Leif is that much a factor for the Pirates.

Now onto a meaningful game next week vs Fox!

Go Cats!

Was cool to see Jake Kumerow on the field for the Packers!

Solid start to the year heading cross country to play early in the day against a solid program... we don't go up against that type of size very often during the regular season.  Next week is going to be a challenge for sure... Go Cats!

Who frickin' cares about a guy who left Linfield to transfer to a school so he could play for a national championship and help his "NFL" aspirations?  I mean seriously... who frickin' cares?  Dude is a traitor to everything for which our program stands.

Have you guys read about the Lewis-Clark Valley Loggers? I saw that Pacific was playing them and as I had never heard of the team I looked them up. A really cool program from what I can tell and maybe a future 9th football team in the NWC?

I don't think that having the streak end would make a difference to how Linfield chooses to support it's athletic programs. If anything it would create more of a focus on how to never have it happen again thus perhaps making things worse. It is my belief that having to go through the hiring process for a new men's basketball coach is going to be an eye opening experience for the athletic department. Any new coach is going to have a laundry list of basic requests to be in place prior to taking the job.  Chief among them has to be a clear way of funding at least one full time assistant. Another would be for the new coach to be able to concentrate his energies 90% on coaching and recruiting and 10% on other duties.

It has been my belief that Linfield should be competing for national championships in football, basketball, and baseball on an annual basis. Success in one should translate in part to success in all.

I'd certainly hope that we adjust our scheme for Saturday as your quarterback looks to be very adept at tucking and running.  I believe with CLU we were first worried about stopping their RB Mosier who in 2010 went for over 200 yards in a half against us.  Our next concern had to be stopping Rogers who has had 2 great games against us (over 200 yards in last year's playoff game).  I'm guessing that CLUs quarterback hadn't scrambled for a lot of yardage during the season given that he was a drop back passer.  He turned out to be really mobile which looks to have been a surprise for our defense.  We probably chose to pick our poison and have him run versus letting the passing game be that much easier.

As a former Linfield player (1990-93) I'd like to apologize for the several Wildcat supporters who obviously never played a down for the program OR if they did they never understood that we took/take great pride in being a classy program.  We don't talk trash on the field.  If you did/do you are doing bear crawls on Monday.  It irks me to have some of these posters be the internet board "Faces/Voices" of our program.  I assure you they represent a minority of the people associated with our program.

I have looked forward to the opportunity to play Wesley since the mid 00's when they started making deep runs into the D3 playoffs.  We have the luxury in D3 to actually settle things on the field which is wonderful.

I always say that play off games come down to 2 things - penalties and turnovers.

Good luck to both teams!

I'm excited for the Wildcats opportunity to head back to Wesley and play one of the Top 10 D3 programs of the past decade.  It will be a great experience for the team.  We have good upperclass leadership, strong coaches who have been to the playoffs before, and a very talented team in all 3 phases.  We'll be ready to play!

For 2012 I'd like to see how we can use Josh Yoder's athleticism as more than an every so often "Wildcat" QB.  Maybe as a receiver, running back, somewhere.  He looks to good with the ball to not be on the field more.  I'm not advocating more QB time but definitely on the field.

Will Larry Doty ever be fired at Linfield?  His career record is barely above .500 and he has had 20+ years to build a winning program.. and by winning I mean what we expect out of both the football and baseball teams which is to be in the national title hunt on an annual basis.  How long does being a Linfield Legend get a guy a Hall Pass?
