Could Coach G from St. Norbert's  be a candidate at UW-Milwaukee  ?
I'm sure the rest of the MWC hopes so!!!!

From the looks of it, it might be the only way a MWC school beats SNC anytime soon!!!  :o

Could be another 18-0 conference sweep for the Green Knights next year as everyone returns. Tough to bet against them when they don't lose anyone.

Nationally, St. Norbert is headed in the right direction. Getting out of the 1st weekend was huge for them, let alone winning the 1st game. It's probably a little tough to prepare for the tourney when the league doesn't offer much resistance. And with only 5 nonconference games to schedule, not many options.

... not to mention the fact that the league's second-best team, Carroll (20-5, 15-3), which returns four of this year's starters and four of the team's top five reserves, is leaving the MWC for the CCIW in 2016-17, which thereby removes the most likely obstacle for the Green Knights next season.

I was in the MKE area this weekend, and I talked hoops with some insiders.  Carroll expects to win the CCIW title next year.  Several awesome recruits in.  Plus possibly a D-1 transfer.  Watch closely.  :o

Good luck to them, but if they can't win the MWC, what makes them think they can win the CCIW? That goes for most everything, BTW, not just men's hoops...

Seems to me - and it's my impression only, I have no empirical data - that there are fewer D3 coaches making the jump to D1. The days of Bennett going from UWSP to UWGB or Bo from UWP to UWM seem to giving way to other D1 assistants moving up to top jobs.

It's possible with Grzesk, of course, that he could. But seems to me his resume doesn't stack up to the guy who got fired - but all it takes is one smitten AD...

Grzesk has been passed up twice for the UWGB job and I would think he'd have a better shot where he's had connections than UWM.

I agree that he'd have to have a D1 assistant job if he wants a D1 head coaching job.

Ripon College ready to break ground on new athletic and wellness facility

RIPON, Wis. (Apr 8) — Ripon College will host a ceremonial groundbreaking Thursday, April 21 at 11 a.m., on a multi-million project to renovate and expand the J.M. Storzer Center athletic, health and wellness facilities. The target completion date for the project is fall of 2017 and it is expected to cost around $20 million.

"We are thrilled to put shovels into the ground so that our students and community will soon be able to enjoy this state of the art center," said Zach Messitte, president of Ripon College. "Ripon -- the College and community -- is committed to healthy living, exercise and the spirit of competition and with this building we will soon have one of the premier facilities in the state."

The groundbreaking ceremony will be held in front of the J.M. Storzer Center. Participating dignitaries include Zach Messitte, president of Ripon College; Gary Will, mayor of Ripon; Stan Gruszynski, state director of the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development division; State Representatives, and several members of the Ripon area business community.  In October 2015, the College was awarded a $14.3-million long-term low-interest loan from the USDA Rural Development division to move forward with the project. Early leadership fundraising efforts for the project have surpassed $7 million as part of the Revitalize campaign.

Ripon College is working with architectural firm Kahler Slater of Milwaukee and The Boldt Company of Appleton.

Work will be done in three phases. The first phase, a 65,000-square-foot field house, will begin in May. This will include an NCAA-compliant 200-meter track with 42-inch running lanes and space for field events — pole vault, high jump, long jump and throwing events. It also includes four performance courts in the middle field for basketball, volleyball and tennis.

The second phase, a 23,250-square-foot north addition and atrium, will commence in July 2016. This will include classrooms, flexible seating, a health food café and concessions, expanded cardio and weight training spaces, reception area and offices.

The final phase will include interior renovations of the main and practice gymnasiums, locker rooms and offices, including an expanded second level with fitness studio, cardio and meditative arts spaces.

The facility will accommodate all students, faculty and staff for competitive or personal health and wellness, and also will be open to community memberships with expanded hours of operation.

The project is being financed using a mix of public and private loans and philanthropy. Revitalize: The Campaign for Health and Wellness at Ripon College is continuing to secure gifts toward the financing.

Whoa. Lawrence announced seven incoming freshman men's basketball players. No idea if they can play but that is a monstrous class. Might make up for last year's small class.

Any word on who Beloit has recruited for the upcoming season? They have some major producers to replace.

Although league champion Augie lost virtually their entire starting team to graduation and will have a major rebuilding job, I seriously doubt Carroll will win the CCIW in their first year. IWU and NCC have to be the preseason favorites.
