JJ Clark I assume is $$ related. From my understanding Wheaton does not pay their younger assistants well, which is why many leave after having success. As mentioned above, gets to get back with all of his buddies (Langs, Terrazes, etc - more money - makes sense.

So failing to pay younger assistants is a common characteristic to Wheaton and not an overwhelming majority of D3 football?  From experience I don't deny assistant coaches are not paid well, but I'd disagree with your assessment that it is a common reason why Wheaton assistants have been leaving.

As Izzy points out most OC's and DC's that have left Wheaton recently is due to the fact they've grown in the experience and knowledge under Swider and are ready to take the next step in their professional career - head coaching.

Quick shout out to the following Wheaton Football alums for their coaching accomplishments this past week:

Pedro Arruza (class of 1996) - Head Coach @ Randolph Macon College. RMC posted it's first ever playoff win over OAC opponent, John Carroll, winning 23-20.  RMC also had a 44-16 advantage in time of possession  :o  RMC travels to Muhlenberg next...

Rod Sandberg (class of 1991) - Head Coach @ Whitworth University. Whitworth posted it's first playoff victory in 12 years, defeating Claremont-Mudd-Scripps by a score of 48-6. Whitworth travels to St. John's next...

Steve Ryan (class of 1989) - Head Coach @ Morningside. Morningside defeated Rocky Mountain College 49-20 in the first round of the NAIA playoffs. Morningside is 12-0 and is the #1 seed in that tournament (I believe).

While RMC and Whitworth have bowed out of the D3 playoffs after solid performances, Steve Ryan and Morningside are ranked #1 in the NAIA and playing in the National Championship game this weekend in Daytona, FL (for the 2nd time since 2012).  https://www.msidemustangs.com/

It was definitely a clean, legal hit. 3 officials saw it and didn't react. The line judge on the NCC sideline threw a flag. It was violent but totally clean, as you said, in the hip area. And Fox was not ejected for targeting, he was ejected for a flagrant "unnecessary roughness" penalty.

Reminds me when I was playing in England in early 90's, there was a game where an English referee threw 2 personal foul flags with an explanation of "hitting too hard."   ???

Where did you play in England?  I was a big fan of USAFE football as a kid.

Player/coach for the Oxford Bulldogs in 1990-91.  Not affiliated with USAFE.  Back in early-mid 90's, American football was fastest growing sport in England & Europe.  There were 75-100 teams in England across three divisions, made up of English players with 2-3 American players per team.  The Oxford Bulldogs did have a couple American players each year from Heyford US Airforce Base.

Good start to the season for CCIW.  5-1 with lone loss being Carthage, who took #4 UWO to the brink.

3 INT for McWilliams - that won't cut it in the next 3 weeks.  Or really any week in the CCIW for that matter.

Primary reason Monmouth is still in the game falls on punting.  Monmouth has kept Wheaton inside their own 10 yard line multiple times including after a 77 yard punt.

Conversely Wheaton manages a 21 yard punt from their 4, leading to Monmouth's only points on a 50/50 pass reception after starting drive at the Wheaton 25.

Monmouth with one first down in the half, and 34 yards on 30 plays.

Game slowing down significantly, as neither offense doing much in 2nd quarter.  Still Wheaton 16-0 over Monmouth with about 2 minutes until the half.

Monmouth taking over at Wheaton 25 on a horrible punt from the Wheaton 4 yardline.
