In addition to the new blood at Oxy, looks like CMS added a new running backs coach as well....

Washington and Lee just (sort of) released their 2016 schedule today and I am thrilled to see C-M-S coming to Lexington 9/17. The Stags seem to be a team on the rise, and W&L is coming off their first 10 win season in program history and their first undefeated regular season in decades. Seems like this could be a good match up of programs that have risen to the top of their respective conferences and I hope it is the front half of a home and home.

SCIAC teams seem to schedule non-conference games as a home and home series (some of the board long-timers can probably confirm) so I would expect to see W&L in SoCal next fall. It will be nice to see how a SCIAC stacks up against teams outside the PNW conference other than in the first round of the playoffs. Does anyone with longer SCIAC experience know how often teams travel to locations other than PNW?

In any case it should be fun for the players to travel east. I hear the W&L campus and surrounding area is very nice.

Any one know how All SCIAC selections are made? I always thought All Conference teams were weighted toward teams based on conference finish. Doesn't seem to be the case here...

SCIAC RECAP....

The Puppies versus the Tigers. Any logical football analyst would pick the Tigers, but I am loyal so I am picking the Pups. Word is Maynard has been busting balls all week. So the Pups either roll over for a belly rub or come out like Pit Bulls. I think the Pups will try to run the ball on Oxy...if they have some success they will win. The Tiger are going to run Do 35 times, they will mirror LV and Chapman's game plan. I will be curious is the 22 pups decide to man up just out of pride.

Chapman versus the Poets. No doubt who win, only guess by 40,50,60....The real question is will Chapman' stud running back play after getting dumped on his head,  in the third quarter. He never returned, the young mans health is more important than records. He is a fine young man, based on personal experience.

The Leo's versus the Regals. I think coach Mac is going to have the Regals ready, just a hunch. The Leo's can space in games they think they should win,  such as first half of Whittier and CMS game. It will be a real gut check for the Regals, I am going to play my hunch and go with the Regals in this one.

I would like to say it has been a fun season, but not really after witnessing UR play like Pups. However hats off to the Leo's for the championship. I know they worked real hard in the offseason, committed senior class. Cheers...

OldDog no comment on the Battle for the Peacepipe.... errrr I mean Sixth Street?

A few thoughts to keep the conversation about the SCIAC going....

Redlands vs CLU... probably this week's match up that will tell us the most about the eventual conference winner. UR is the conference runner up from last year and has to be considered an early conference favorite. However after a loss at GF, in a game everyone thought they should win, and a resounding loss at Linfield, questions surfaced. DBQ reminded the UR detractors that the Bulldogs "only lost two games in September" and in fact those games mean nothing for the conference. Order is restored when UR comes to conference play and handles Pomona as expected. CLU comes in at 3-0 but to be honest, I have no idea about the quality of their first two wins.  CLU has had a few down seasons and coach Mac has been next to silent on his blog; but seems quietly confident this year. CLU opened the SCIAC with a win, handling Whittier as expected. So not having watched either team and thus not being able to comment on the who should win the game; the winner of this game will be undefeated with a win over one of the contenders in the conference.

LaVerne vs CMS... Two teams which won the opening SCIAC games. LaVerne pulling away on the ground in the fourth quarter against a questionable Oxy defense. Interestingly LaVerne defeated the same GF team in week one that beat UR in the second week. CMS defeated Chapman on their homecoming putting Chapman at 0-3, which leads to the question of how Chapman will actually perform this season. CMS faces a homecoming crowd at LaVerne for the second week in a row. Both teams like to run the ball. CMS has been good against the run. Should be a close game and may come down to which team can complete some key passes.

Chapman vs Pomona... Do or die for Chapman this week. Chapman surprisingly is at 0-3 with an unexpected loses to CMS. Pomona at 1-2 with a win at a rebuilding Lewis & Clark and a lopsided loss to UR. Should be a clear win for Chapman, but you never know what the confidence level is there.

Whittier vs Occidental... Whittier comes in after a conference loss to CLU and Occidental a loss to LaVerne. Oxy will want to keep hopes for a conference title alive and avoid going 0-2 in conference. Should be a win for Oxy but if Whittier eliminates turnovers and other mistakes you never know.

Is the game today....Chapman-v-CMS (listed as exhibition) more of a mutual scrimmage situation...or a 100% game?

I believe Chapman v CMS today was a controlled scrimmage. Pantherpride29 did you watch? Any insights?
