GreatScot!?

About a month before the start of the season, and I'm very excited for the start of it. Looking forward to another great year of MIAA hoops!

wiz

Anyone know if Calvin was successful in recruiting in the Hoosier state this year?

GreatScot!?

Glad to see that the MIAA didn't have any coaches associated with this Adidas scandal :o

That being said, it will be interesting to see how deep this goes.

Its homecoming this week at Olivet, they play Hope in football.  All of their campus organizations have a banner design contest, this was basketballs.

I'm going to arrogantly provide a link to football in case any Calvin posters need more info  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_football    ;D

Somehow you copied and pasted the wrong football link. I humbly provide the link to the correct football Wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Association_football  ;D

As both a fan of (American) football and long-time coach of what I generally call 'futbol' (now retired),  I can't help wondering what Calvin is deterred by.  Genuinely deterred by the risk of CTE's?  (THAT I could understand.)  Simply no near-campus location for a football stadium?  Or are you simply anti-American?!  (To sound like a Trumpista). :D

My daughter is a senior at Calvin.  During her freshman orientation the college proudly proclaimed that they were "unbeaten all time" in football.  Why put on the pads and risk erasing such a splendid record?

What would be the upside of adding it in 2017?

Enrollment would get a bump–but for how long? Fewer and fewer players at the youth level means fewer enrollees down the road.

I thought they were "winless all time," still in search of their first victory.

By the way, has anyone noticed the job that former EGR coach Peter Stuursma is doing with the Hope football team; last Saturday his team trounced Olivet, last year's MIAA champ, 42 - 20, after leading 35 - 0 at halftime.  The team is now 3 - 1 on the year, losing only their first game by seven points.  Last year, his first as coach, resulted in a second place finish.
