Looks like Roosevelt played NCC last season and lost 41-7. They seemed to be a decent enough NAIA team, but this should be a road kill for the Hawks.

Bleed, although I'd like to start talking the Stagg, I'm looking for clarification of something you seem to remember me doing.
You said I was critical of Kotelnicki "in his early years". I don't think I'm mistaken- didn't he only coach at UWW in 2013 and 2014? Which of those two championship years would be the "early years" I was critical of him?

You are right, he coached in 2013 and 2014, so I guess there were no "early years". And considering we went 30-0 those two years,  perhaps your opportunities to criticize were limited. I'll withdraw that statement because I don't remember specifics. Since I can't back it up, I'll withdraw that.

2013 was the WIWA year. I may be misremembering you being critical of the offense/Kotelnicki. I will give you this: I think you jumped aboard WIWA faster than 02 did!  Wow, can't believe that was 10 years ago!

2012 cut me deep  ;D

For those of you with short memories, The SJU win over UMU 20 years ago was a more surprising upset. Ask Pat.

Wasn't that a #2 (w/Blake Elliot) over a #1?

Elliot might have been one of the better D3 players...ever. Ask Pat.

Cortland wasn't even a top 10 team this year, with no 1st team All Americans on their roster.

NCC should have won by multiple TDs. Betting line would have been at LEAST -14 for NCC given their body of work. They had no business losing this game.

That being said, congrats to Cortland. So happy for them taking down a giant. What a game.

Biggest upset in Stagg Bowl history?? I think so.

The whole "Pound the Rock" mantra left when Lance left.

New regimes come with their own philosophies. Good and bad.

2014, Lance's last year  Rushing yardage accounted for 45% of total yardage.
2023, Rushing yardage accounted for 53% of total yardage.

So, whatever.

I was referring more to the offenses that took over (who are no longer here, for good reason) after Lance and Andy left. This year was a step in the right direction, I admit. Which is promising.

Looking at Emma's, USee's and Bleed's posts, it's kind of funny how stats can be cherry picked to prove their own different point of view(s) about the same topic.

Just like politics  ;)

I agree with what BW said. One silver lining from yesterday was how we competed in the loss. They played great game against a very team on the road. One of my pet peeves from the previous regime was that the teams didn't seem prepared enough in their playoff losses. Each season ended via a very poorly executed/coached game. It seems to me the players are responding a little better to JR than they did to KB.

Wartburg was full of 5th year seniors and whitewater just wasn't full of 5th year seniors.

tbh they deserved the w.

They were the better team. Made fewer mistakes. one team was clutch down the stretch and the other wasn't. Lots coming back to be hopeful about. Maybe they can have an open tryout for kickers/punters. The one glaring weak spot on this team.

Idk what was worse about this game. Whitewater losing, or the wartburg camerapeople literally not doing their jobs half the time.

UWW losing is worse

Turnovers and mistakes were the difference maker.

Good year.

A lot coming back to be hopeful about. maybe we can get someone who can kick FGs next year.

Might be fair to say Wartburg's defense will be a step up (or two) from Wheaton's. However, no chance their offense will be that of Wheaton's, which is good.

Also being that this game is in Iowa, I think this is a coin flip game as far as who wins.

The radio broadcasters mentioned the Wheaton offense was probably the best offense Whitewater had faced all year.. I will leave those that watch the games  decide.

No question about that. I would definitely agreed.
