Tough luck for Ott to get Parsons and Adrian on their own field to open.

I just like those Marietta home uniforms.  Pinstripes. Just classic. The same can be said Chapman's home uniforms, too.

I am a bit of a uniform snob and love simple home whites (or pinstripes), road grays, one SOLID alternative.  These camo, multi-colored, and dark gray uniforms drive me nuts.

...and the solid alternative I prefer goes with white pants.

In any case, the Shenandoah Marietta game was a good one.

Shen got a complete game out of their starter without an excessive number of pitches.  Marietta challenged in the last 3 innings and had the tying runner on third with 2 out in the 9th.

Final Shen 3, Etta 2.

Etta's best shot was the 8th with 1st and 2nd 1 down with 2-3-4 up.  Unfortunately Petrucci GIDP to end the threat.

I thought the students (I assume) from Adrian did a nice job calling the game.

Agree that the call on these games are pretty good.  I do wish we could find a way to stream a D3 baseball game with a camera not behind a net.  We'll get there.  Baby steps.

LGs hanging around down 4-2 to Wooster.  Dippman has been outstanding and I don't think Wabash has seen him yet this year.  On the other hand, Wooster has seen Roberts plenty, and they are really making him grind.  He just got through the 6th.  He's over 100 pitches and I'm not sure if you don't go ahead and give Wooster a different look over these last three innings.

I also liked the recent Cortland home whites... reminded me of the old classic Cincinnati Reds (Redlegs).

This year they have added a stripe running from the armpit to the waist.

I do not like the Westfield State uniforms that are blue on the back and white on the front.

Scots hang on and win 4-2 this afternoon.  Dippman was great for the Scots and really limited Wabash's scoring opportunities.  I don't think Wabash ever got anything serious going with less than two outs today.  Wabash vs. Marietta in the first elimination game tomorrow at 10 am. WAF!

Etta is definitely a winnable game for Wabash.  Their offense is nothing special.  The LG's will almost certainly face Oberhelman.  He threw an absolute gem his last start (CG 4 hit shutout against ONU in the OAC tourney), but he's not overpowering by any means.  I don't know how Wabash's #2 guy is, but if he's good then they have a good chance to stay alive.

Cody Cochran pitched the first game vs. Wooster in the NCAC tournament and did a fine job.  I'm sure the hope here today is to get 6-7 good innings out Cochran and then depending on the score get it to Zach Moffett to close.  Have to get ahead first though!

I'm seeing an on-screen ad on the broadcast today as well which I'm pretty sure is an NCAA no-no.  Hope somebody lets the crew in Adrian know.

Wabash couldn't have scripted this much better.

As for the ad, someone from D3.com pointed it out to Adrian on the stream comments yesterday.  They were trying to disable it.

Trouble brewing in the 8th here.  A better script would not include 15 LOB through 7 innings.  Marietta is within shouting distance here and there have been a lot of missed chances for Wabash this morning.

Wabash hangs on and eliminates Marietta 4-2.  Cody Cochran was fantastic on the hill.  I believe he retired 10 in a row before he got into trouble in the 8th.  The Little Giants get the loser of LaRoche/Adrian tomorrow afternoon.  Awesome to see Wabash win (at least) one in this regional.

I haven't checked the forecast for Adrian, but I live only about 40 miles away and we're supposed to have thunderstorms off-and-on all afternoon.  They may get some games in, but expect delays and perhaps some washouts.

Tough showing for the OAC.  Etta is young so I wasn't expecting a deep run, but Otterbein had the lead late in both games and couldn't close it out.  That extra inning loss yesterday was painful.  Up a run with 2 down and a runner on first and you don't close it out.  Ouch.

Wabash eliminates LaRoche 8-5 this evening.  Wabash scored 6 in the first and led comfortably for the next 7 innings.  Things got a little squirrelly in 9th, but LaRoche just ran out of outs to play with.  Wabash will play Ithaca tomorrow as the Bombers eliminated Shenandoah earlier in the day.

I wondered the same thing.

This year's weather is making the case to move to the Super Regional format.

Wabash stays alive with 3-1 and 4-0 wins over Ithaca and Adrian, respectively.  I was really surprised to not see Parsons from Adrian today which leads me to believe that he simply wasn't available today.

Wabash will play Wooster tomorrow for the regional championship.  LGs obviously need to win a pair.  Why not?

Great for the NCAC, they have a guaranteed participant in the World Series.  Tomorrow's game will be the sixth time the two teams meet this season with Wooster winning 3 and Wabash winning 2.  Wabash is on quite a streak and the Little Giants are playing very good baseball.   Wooster seems to be playing well also and getting some good pitching.  Wooster's staff may be better rested since they have only played 3 games this weekend, but when it gets to this point it's all hands on deck for every team.  I am looking forward to a great game tomorrow.

Wooster wins 4-2 (again) over Wabash to claim the Adrian Regional championship.  Gritty stuff again from Wabash pitching today, but just a couple of miscues in the 6th inning turned a 1-0 lead into a 2-1 deficit.  Wabash drew four walks in the 8th to get it back to a 3-2 game, but couldn't quite get that one more hit they needed.  As Wooster posts slowpitch softball scores against everybody else they play, I'm sure the Scots are thrilled to get as far away from Wabash as possible.

Great rip through this tournament for Wabash.  The LGs took out half of the region, posted a program high for wins in a season, and set a new highwater mark for advancing in the NCAA tournament.  Coach Martin has a lot of positive things to build on this offseason.  Good luck to the Scots in Appleton.  WAF!

The other #8 seeds in the tournament went 0-8 for some context on what Wabash did this past weekend.

Interesting note, the NCAC went 6-0 against out of conference opponents in this regional.  Hopefully, this goes a long way with the selection committee in the future.  There may be some laggards at the bottom of the conference that drag the strength of schedule down, but the top of the conference is always strong.

Thanks for the comment.

Past conference performance is not a criterion for the selection. However, as one looks at the criteria, the committee probably looks at the non-conference record very closely to see how a team performed against regionally ranked (especially) non-conference teams. What a NCAC team does with the other 22 games on the regular season schedule is critical to building the case to be selected as a Pool C.

The fields are becoming more balanced every year.  A comment was made about the #8 seeds going 0-8. The scores in the first round (#1 v #8) were 15-1; 5-4; 4-2 (Wabash v Wooster); 9-0; 6-4. There were 2 blowouts with #1 v #8. My guess is that the blowouts were by # 1 pitching aces.

In the elimination round, where #8 was playing a #4 or a #5, the #8's lost by 4-1; 3-2; 4-3 and 8-6.  None of those were blowouts and we can assume the both teams used #2 pitchers

The field is just incredibly balanced and reputation does not carry a team very far.  In the West Regional final game, Texas Lutheran was the #3 SCAC conference seed and the #4 Regional Seed. Willamette was the Northwest Conference #3 seed and the #6 regional seed in a 6-team bracket. In the Central, UT-Tyler was a #4 ASC conference seed and #3 Central Region seed and defeated Rhodes a #2 SAA seed and a #4 Central Regional seed.

Going to Wisconsin are #1's Wooster, Concordia-Chicago and Randolph-Macon, #2 Oswego, #3 UT-Tyler, #4 Texas Lutheran and #5 Misericordia.

While past performance is not a criteria, it sneaks in.  A good conference will give you a better SOS, adding to the chances of any team making the tournament.  Look at the number of OAC, NJAC teams year to year and you see how a conference that is good top to bottom helps a team in a playoff selection.
