Was told Bowdoin students interested in taking a gap year were told they would need to reapply to return.

Anyone able to confirm?

Hearing the vast majority of Colby students (92%) plan to return to campus this fall. Of those that are not, 25 football players are included. Clearly, the players place great value on their athletic careers as well.

The traditional on campus college experience will be greatly changed everywhere. I hope the students are prepared and able to adapt to new restrictions on all aspects of college life. Some may struggle especially with social life changes, restrictions on dorm visits, etc.

Possibility of expanding the football rosters in the nescac was underway prior to the pandemic. I would hope it would have some momentum to take place now under these circumstances of so many players so many teams taking a year off.

Some of the players at Colby too have decided to take the semester off, if not the entire year. Sign of the times with uncertainty about the entire college experience in today's world.

My guess is they will have to increase the roster size. Remember, there was a movement afoot among many of the schools to increase the roster size prior to the pandemic anyway.

Will be interesting to see if so how large they do expand it to. Another one of the many challenges facing the school's athletic departments and coaches. Not to mention players and parents.

Based upon Williams' decision combined with Bowdoin's it would appear as if the NESCAC football season is officially kaput for 2020. Bummer is probably a huge understatement.

Keep in mind there is a movement afoot to expand the rosters to 85. That was prior to this new world order so my guess is people have not been focusing on that. However there is definitely momentum at some schools to expand.

A couple of scenarios being bounced around privately by some of the NESCAC include a shorter season if the players can't report back to school in the fall until the rest of the student body. Another more radical is if the schools don't physically go back in the fall perhaps they could run three semesters in 2021 using up the summer. Some in the league are brainstorming with time on their hands No Doubt.

Yes, everyone in the NESCAC community has been pulling for him. Great news for all to hear.

In thinking more about it, the situation may work against NESCAC recruiting in that more players will wait longer before committing, as they wait to see if they get Ivy offers.

The pandemic has made it extremely difficult from a recruiting standpoint for the ivy league as well as other schools. Whereas Harvard for instance typically has 80% of their incoming recruits nailed down by August 1, it may take longer this year perhaps providing opportunities for NESCAC recruiting possibilities.

I was told that at the conclusion of last season the coaches all voted to expand irosters to 85.  Not sure what the process is though for final approval.

Hearing there is a movement afoot to expand roster sizes from 75 to 85. Curious if anyone is hearing same.

I concur with some of the earlier posts indicating financial aid packages can and do in fact vary in some cases significantly from one nescac school to another. Often it will make the difference in the recruiting game for those in need.
