I saw that the Johnnie pumpkin pushers thumped Linfield before Christmas.

Yeah, they went cold in the second half against Whitworth and lost the first game of that Spokane trip, then came back the following night and beat up Linfield pretty good.

Looks like they had some fun while they were out there. They got to use the Gonzaga practice facility leading up to the games.

I'm in Las Vegas for a couple days with the family. I hope I don't come across too harsh to the Vegas lovers but this place is too much for me. Too many people, too much noise and just too much.  I must say that Ceasar’s Palace makes the whole town, though. That may be the most outrageously over the top place I have ever seen.  In a town dedicated to excess it takes the crown and stands easily at the top of the hill.

That being said, I'm back here in just three weeks for a work convention.

Feel free to come see Concordia play UW-Platteville at 8 p.m. tomorrow!

Doh!  We leave tonight which I’m both grateful for and now, amazingly, a little regretful about.  Three days here and I AM READY TO GO but now I wish I was staying one more night.

I don't know why the deemphasis on hockey on this "State of Hockey" board. If you are a fan, I urge you to start watching the World Junior Championship if you can (NHL Network has most, if not all, games). These are all 20 and under kids, and their skill level is amazing. The emphasis on skating, rather than physicality, makes it very entertaining. The Gophers contributed 4 players, and all are doing well and contributing. Just my passion.

Also, Vegas isn't my favorite place either, but I kinda like old downtown Vegas over "The Strip." It's a little less congested, or at least it was the last time I was there about 4 years ago.

I hope to get advice from the fishermen on this board.
I’ve always fished Walleye with a spinning rod and reel. My wife bought me a baitcaster rod for Christmas- do any of you use the rig for Walleye? If so, what techniques?

I'm not much of a walleye fisherman, but the guys I know that walleye fish use baitcasters with bottom bouncers.

Maybe your wife is suggesting you take up bass fishing.  ;)

Right with you retagent. Been following the tournament and just watched the 10 round shootout between Switzerland and Slovakia.

Back in 1976 I had the opportunity to "drive through" Reno on I-80 and then jumping off at US 50 across Nevada at night, to then hook up with I-70 through Denver to Fort Riley, Kansas to see my uncle who was stationed there. Never been to Las Vegas. Though I have a bucket list item to attend a SEMA show at some point before I expire.

Happy New Year!

I've never been to LV.  It doesn't really seem like my scene.  The Mrs. took a trip there in college and has been twice for work conferences--she's been pregnant both times.  :o

They did do a "gangster tour" once that she says was pretty cool--went through the history of LV and such.

My first trip to Vegas was in the mid 60s? The casinos were relatively small. The names I remember are: Dunes, Sands, Riviera, Flamingo, Tropicana. The Mob ran them then and they were elegant. Lounge Shows were free and dinner shows were $5-10. The entertainment was top shelf and many would come out and play at the tables. Eartha Kitt put on the best show I was at. I remember Sarah Vaughan and Red Skelton were very good. Several years later Mrs. & I were driving there and the noise and smog hit us as we got into town. Mrs told me to turn around or drive through to Laughlin. Don Laughlin from Minnesota knew what he was doing. Those were the days.
My first Lounge Show. I was sitting at a bar waiting for a Johnnie buddy to show up. All of a sudden the curtain opens with Harry James and his band and Betty Grable.
Sorry to bore you youngsters

My favorite part of Vegas is getting a cheap flight to LV, renting a car, and then going to Zion NP or Bryce Canyon NP in Utah.

We did exactly that at the end of this summer with wife and the daughters with the game @ Southern Utah as the original excuse. One night in Vegas, then stayed in St George. Took in Zion and made the trip with oldest daughter to the Grand Canyon north rim.  Would love to get back and check out Bryce etc also
