Trinity beats Tufts this afternoon. Tufts forced to play 3-2 zone most of the game, not quick enough to go man-to-man. Trinity gets lots of looks from distance, corner threes, baseline layups. Trinity playing with confidence.

EPHS dominate a disjointed amherst squad (only 3 assists, 14 turnovers) 57-43 with excellent defense  taking ex-lord jeffs out of their strengths. EPHS again well prepared by Coach App and staff for team effort in front of sell-out Williams crowd.

Just a note to express my gratitude, and that on behalf of many others, to nescac1 whose fair and balanced reporting on all aspects of NESCAC sports provides insight and pleasure to readers of this board. nescac1's knowledge, passion, and ability for communicating effectively, not simply about Williams College and its student athletes, includes many NESCAC institutions and members of other conferences. Well done, nescac1 !

NESCAC basketball teams are often challenged by opposing rosters sprinkled with good city game players who get to the rim or in the lane by being quick off the bounce, have some mid-range game, and are relentless on the offensive board from growing up playing "straight-up" (not required to take the ball back behind the foul line after getting a rebound) ---all characteristics gained from playground basketball. One major college coach told me at lunch last week that many of his recruiting prospects have only played outside infrequently, thus narrowly skilled from hours on indoor courts shooting from distance (no wind and commonly with mechanical aids), dependent on teammates helping them get shots, and sometimes lacking creative offensive fundamentals and tough, physical defense.

While these are general statements for which there obviously are many exceptions, the best basketball players often come from the inner city playgrounds
of New York, Chicago, Washington, D.C, Houston, Los Angeles, etc. Conversely, careful viewing of NESCAC teams over the years can reveal which players have some playground experience and those who clearly don't.

Your thoughts?

PaulNeuman: 1.Tragically, David Foster Wallace committed suicide.2. The St. Olaf video of their team returning to campus is an instant classic.

Clearly the right result, as amHurst fails for the third time to win a championship game. No reason for over-the top rough play. National and international awareness as to poor tone and culture detracts from the reputation of an educational seeking to improve in other aspects.

Many of us agree that amHurst's style of play and behavior is atrocious and has been for many years. Another 8 fouls in today's first half.
Why Dave as as an announcer attempts to defend it is beyond comprehension. amHurst has major and minor sports, erratic senior leadership and athletic administration, and acknowledges a specific recruiting approach to men's soccer. It is what it is and unlikely to change until changes occur on the sideline. coach analytics is quite correct.

Williams steals a win from Wesleyan in Middletown with a determined comeback after trailing by 10 with 8 minutes to go. Lee, Karen, Glatzer, Cooley, and Cole Prowitt-Smith all make big shots with Cole's driving layup the winner with 27 seconds remaining. Wesleyan only 9 of 20 from the foul line, including several key misses toward the end. Still the Ephs need the injured to return, better three point shooting, improved passing, and protecting the rim. The depth has certainly paid off with everyone contributing.

Well, you had to see it to believe it! Williams wins 66-58 in overtime over St. Lawrence after one of Ben McGraw's five three pointers ties it in regulation with three seconds left. St. Lawrence well-coached, cohesive team led by 9 with 4:36 left in regulation. Skilled passing a diminished art among current NESCAC players, especially against an effective zone defense as displayed by St. Lawrence. Undermanned EPHS need to get healthy in order to reach potential.

Nescacman: All-time football record: Williams 77 wins, Wesleyan 45 wins (5 ties)
                   Football record 2010 - 1986: Williams 25 wins, Wesleyan 2 wins.
                   .... nice try.

P.S. Your multi-year obsession with one Williams coach, whom you don't know or his family, has said more about you than him. Think about it and talk among yourselves ....

lumbercat, take a deep breath and relax. I'm a modest, humble guy. You don't know me or any of my teammates in any case, so your false narrative is null and void. For my part, I stipulate that TheHerst2and4 clearly had a great experience, as I watched several of his outstanding performances.

I've seen it many times before in various competitions against numerous opponents ... in this instance Panther Pride trumps Hartford State
"football arrangements."

amHurst awarded a total of 10 yellow cards in last two games, including 6 today against Conn College ... longstanding thug style of direct play.
