I think that Bridgewater and Emory and Henry should be the two favorites if the players at RMC are not going to play.  Catholic had quite a few seniors on last years team.  Hampden Sydney must find a replacement at running back to do anything.  They return their quarterback and most of the defense but HSC plays 4 conference games away this year.  My preseason ranking would be:

1. Bridgewater
2. E&H
3. HSC
4. RMC
5. W&L
6. Catholic
7. Guilford

I do like the fact that R-M has been somewhat consistent over the years when it comes to problem players.  Choices have consequences.  If you don't want to follow the rules, then we'll send you on your way.

Funny how that's, you know, kinda like a JOB? ???
It is, isn't it?  :)

The fact that most of the defense is returning is what scares me. As I've said before on this board, I would love to see Marty bring in some newcomers who actually play defense.

I wish I was wrong too...but I am fairly confident it is a done deal.  Pedro is not one to play favorites, and apparently these two thought they were above the rest of the TEAM during some off season activities.  Don't be surprised to see either one of them surface somewhere else in the league...Word is that HSC was contacted pretty soon after, by both, as much as I hate to type that...also rumored that Zak was given the option to stay with a 2 game suspension but turned it down...true colors shining through it appears.

(sigh) >:(

If true, then time to move on.  Very appreciative of what they did for the program over the last few years, though.

Turf installation at Guilford's Armfield Athletic Center is moving right along.  Pressbox and main stands are out of view on the right.  Visitor stands and new dorms are what's visible.  Take a look:

Thanks.  The main part of Guilford's campus is behind the camera's view.  With lights, new stands/scoreboard/pressbox/turf, etc., Armfield is dramatically different from when it was opened around 1960.  I'm a bit biased because I'm an alumnus, but I think the college looks better than it ever has.  I've been told there will be a record traditional freshman class this fall (old record = 444).  With the traditional (18-23) base, the vibrant Continuing Education program and the Early College at Guilford (about 100 exceptional Guilford County HS students taking college classes for credit), the overall numbers are about 2800.

One more number, an even 200 for you!

From a proud dad in Texas!

Just a note to those in the ODAC who know CruAlum39.  He will soon leave the ranks of bachelorhood.  He is getting married on June 20 to a delightful young lady who is a former volleyball player at Sam Houston State.  He and his bride will reside in San Antonio where he is now the defensive coordinator for San Antonio Churchill HS.
Congratulations and best wishes to all!

Does this mean no more Stagg Bowl, Hooters visiting, scooter riding, drinking in the parkinglot times for Cru39?  :o Congrats from Llamaguy!

I'm not totally sold on a #16 ranking in the Sporting News for a team that was 4-6 a year ago. BC did graduate just a few Seniors but until they cut down on the 15 yard penalties dramatically I'm not so sure its wise for TSN to give a team that high of a ranking based mostly on one big win at Catholic.
If the top 2 tacklers from 2007,Travis Gantt and Damien Ward get the grades they need in summer school to return to the team then BC's defense will be vastly improved.
I am looking for 6 or 7 wins from the Eagles, maybe 8 if they catch some breaks.

Check the webcam link provided a few posts back ... the field is really looking first-class ... if today's live feed is after dark, go to the previous day.  :)

Thanks for the links. I really enjoy this info in the off season. I don't have anything to share from E&H. Have not seen any details. The coaches seem to be pleased with the class. Camp at E&H starts in 55 days and a wakeup. Camp should get the old juices flowing around the ODAC! Talking about fields and stadiums...E&H has begun work on the second phase of renovations. It will be great...new field house in the east end zone, redoing home and visitor bleachers. They tried to get the train tracks moved, but there is only so much alumni support can do!!Take care all.....WM

Dumb question. Why would a school invest so much $$$$ to install lights on their field and then not schedule any night games for this upcoming season? (i.e.) W & L???
