When the guy who keeps the standings comes in last, that speaks to the dedication of the person. http://discus.d3hoops.com/discus/clipart/happy.gif" ALT=":-)" BORDER=0>

Nice work, BG.

OAS,

I hope MAC's President Rosenberg ends, with emphasis, the whole mascot fiasco.

The final four AD candidates have been interviewed and the rumor is that an offer has been made.  Unfortunately for MAC, the candidate pool was, to put it charitably, less than high quality.

Saw Conboy play in the Pulley league last night.  Does anyone know if there are any other current or former MIAC players playing in the league this summer?

What are people's thoughts for the top three teams in the league next season?  Need it for some preseason predictions work that I am doing.

The mascot thing is a joke.  I bet they dropped a couple grand into that dang costume.  You mean candidates weren't knocking down the door to come to mac and return a football team to the MIAC and a women's basketball team to a full MIAC schedule?

I picture it as a vehicle totaled in a head on collision with a semi and bringing in autobody specialists to see who might best be able to restore it to new or next to new.  Problem was the car was totaled so bad they can barely convince a specialist to look at it.

Just for you OAS - Really early, pre-season predictions, some would call them "WAGs":

1) UST
2) GAC
3) CARL

4) CORD
5) BET
6) HAM

piperinsider

6th, we'll take it.

1. UST    2. CAR    3. CON

Local MN Coach

Well of course I have to chime in with my early predictions.  Here's my first crack at trying to project the playoff teams.

1. UST (Although my "gut" is likely to change this when we redo these this fall)
2. GAC
3. CAR
4. HAM
5. CON
6. SJU

It sounds like Carleton and Hamline had the best recruiting classes this off season.

I still haven't been able to attend any summer league games.  Has anyone from this board been to either league?

Interesting article about outgoing executive director Carlyle Carter in the Star Tribune today...takes a little shot at Gagliardi which I always enjoy.

OAS,

More like $6 grand for the mascot.  But do not worry, Rosenberg won't let it happen.

Top three...hmmmmmm....

1) UST
2) GAC
3) CAR

RCTC, in Rochester, is thinking about putting up an artificially surfaced fball field under a dome. My dad got asked to serve on the Commission. I doubt he will have time to take the position, but he bounced the idea of a MIAC-IIAC/WIAC basketball challenge around Thanksgiving off the coordinator and he seemed receptive. Will it actually happen? It's doubtful, but stranger things have happened.

I know some people have wanted this for years, but this seems like the first baby step in that direction. Rochester seems like a good location, with numerous hotels, restaurants and either the Civic Center (auditorium or arena) or the relatively new RCTC bball facility as possible venues. LaCrosse and Luther are an hour away and most of the cities/southern MN MIAC schools would likely be interested.

How much interest do you think the leagues would have in something like this?

The IIAC and WIAC have started a mini conference challenge on opening weekend.  Last year UWL & UWEC traveled to Coe and Buena Vista, swithcing teams each night.  This year BV and Coe will travel to UWL & UWEC.  I don't know if they will keep doing this or even expand it in the future, but its a start. I like the idea and would love to see a MIAC-WIAC challenge.

Buff,

That would throw a wrench in Bethel's annual cupcake preseason schedule.  You mean you actually want them to play someone good in the preseason? http://discus.d3hoops.com/discus/clipart/happy.gif" ALT=":-)" BORDER=0>

I like the idea.  That is one thing that hurts D3 is that teams don't play outside of their conference very much.  Things like Linfield (OR) playing Stevens Point (WI) in football this past season are signs this is changing.

It seems official on the school's site concerning the mascot.  You think Rosenberg is going to pull the plug on it?

$6,000?  Ridiculous!  I put together a Braveheart costume back in the day for like $300 and they shut it down for a vulgarity.  I almost laughed.

It sounds like ol' Danny boy has some phone calls to make to get the MIAC involved in this local affair.

PI - Did you open and read my National Geographic before sending it on to me? The darn thing was opened and I am blaming you http://discus.d3hoops.com/discus/clipart/happy.gif" ALT=":-)" BORDER=0>

Is the new MAC gym opening next year?  A mascot might be fun, but 6K is amazing. I think GAC has a lion outfit that is only brought out for important events or something. The poor kid in at out in Virginia a few years back used our showers after the game so he wasn't all sweaty for the 24-hour busride home.
