Thanks for the update. Now that we have an Augie grad as coach maybe we'll be able to compete in the future.

Unfortunately, from the "behind the scenes" stories I've heard of what went down leading up the Willaert's departure from SJU and Schiltz's hiring, I think the once-strong SJU program is living on borrowed time.  There's an alumni group that's fighting, but the administration has all but doomed the program.

Yeah, talking to Kevin and reading between the lines I got that feeling. Trying to be optimistic.

The video helped I don' t get out much and I'm old. I get mixed up and I forget things.
Actually, I have seen that commercial. Just forgot.
Thanks!

Regarding the SJU behind the scenes wrestling discussion that I have been tracking as well, I am confused.  Schools in other parts of the country are adding wrestling programs each year. Clearly these schools are not the same football stature as SJU but they have figured it out.  This sucks. Hate to lump you in with UST on this but it sounds like it will go down that way.  UST wanted to take a spring baseball trip so they dropped wrestling and used the budget for the trip. Nice eh?

It's a shame.  My understanding is that SJU won't fund a full time coach and really put zero effort into finding one after Willaert left.

A tradition unrivaled...

UMHB didn't win by 30, so I guess I was wrong about that. Could they have? Probably, pretty easily.

Yeah but Brockport had an astounding amount of unforced errors, could have been a bit closer too.

MiacMan

WOW, Osh and Mount sounds like it was a real barn burner. Sounds like Brock stumbled early, UMHB jumped on them and then the UMHB defense took over. It would be pretty hard to comeback from 21 down on that defense. Looks like a real war for the Stagg Bowl. It's going to be fun.

Unforced? Hard to say. We have a good D, and we were opportunistic. We played a good game on D and did what we do, milk the clock and sit back on the lead when we have it. Will that work this week against Mount, probably not, so we'll have to get better.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

Was more referring to bad snaps, miscues etc also there was a muffed punt that Brockport had a guy land direcrly on top of which should have been 7 but they somehow couldn't come away with the ball.

Another wrestling update that some might find interesting.

Owen Webster finds success with Gophers wrestling after transferring from Augsburg  Minnesota Daily

Sophomore Owen Webster is living his childhood dream with Minnesota, but that was not always the case.

Webster transferred to Minnesota after a successful year on the mat with Division III Augsburg. Even though he had a good time at Augsburg, it was always a goal for Webster to wrestle at Minnesota, and now he is a starter in his first year with the team.

Does anyone know if Johnny Heller will return next fall? I believe he went down in the Johnnie game last year and may be eligible for a medical redshirt.

Not sure if he will be back, but hope so because he had a great season.  So when can we expect your commitment announcement's to start?  Any insights at this point with the HS football season now complete?

Haven't started looking into it much yet, but I will get on it soon. Now that the HS football season is done, kids will start making their announcements soon.

Great discussion on the Iowa board regarding "Redshirting/Greyshirting" opinions/input encouraged.

Congrats to Austin Jochum on making second team All American.  Heck of a way to close out his career.

Well deserved. The full list is here:

Maybe a bit more senior heavy than I would expect from a true D3 All-America list. And a few notable names not on the list (Kasper for one).

I'm going to work up a list of the UST starters, who will be gone, and who will be expected to take a step up to fill in here in a bit.
