Air raid siren is quite annoying
What does the rain have in common with AC's rushing attack...McM couldn't stop either of them. My assessment from seeing the 2nd half of a rain soaked game is that McM can score quickly. The QB has good feet that saved him and set up big plays on several occasions tonight when a d-lineman was hot on his tail (not unlike Feaster). The receivers look pretty good as well, but the running game is poor and the McM Defense is porous. AC was getting big chunks of yardage up the middle and did pretty well on the edges.
I could see this McM team being like the team from 2005. The QB, Sellers, looked great until late in the HSU game when HSU started getting to him and really hit him hard. Sellers fell apart and in the next game MHB's D was relentless and the Cru put 72 on them. I don't think score-wise that will be the case, but I can see the HSU and MHB Defenses putting a hurt on him unlike any other he'll see. ANd I definitely can envision the Cru running game eating the defense I saw tonight for breakfast.

The easier part of the McM schedule is the mid portion.
Brannon Walls is my early choice for the All-Conference kicking specialist.

Penalties are killing McM
ETBU gets on the board (one play, 56-yard run by QB Sed Harris) but can't convert the extra point try. 21-6 TLU w/9:22 left in half.
Momentum seems to be moving to HSU
No doubt Bill. They're playing well, but the penalties are killing them.
Lee Munn Pick 6 Cru
HSU at midfield
MCM held the Cru on 4th and 1 on the 1 on MHBs only offensive possession of the 2nd half so far. The Cru has scored on both of McMs possessions.
HSU runs to the 25
Looks like TLU's starting QB got hurt - Frank Vera has been in the last two series and they're keeping it on the ground more. Vera's first attempt was intercepted, leading to the ETBU score. Vera 0-3 now and TLU will have to punt.

I think that McMurry's depth charts are still very fluid.
They said that the 2nd team center (a true freshman) is playing and has made some mistakes but other than that no. they did say they were rotating people the whole game because of the temp.
McM fumbled on third UMHB recovered and returned for the TD

Brings back memories of McM and HSU games at HSU in the late 90's. Ref's made some very questionable calls when I think back...
HSU is trying to play dirty. Doesnt sound like the players think they can compete.
One of the worst calls I've ever seen. The cru player was on the punter and obviously blocked the punt. The ball went maybe 20 yds forward and out of bounds to the punters left

Just stating the facts. Cru mistakes and a call or two kept the ball out of the Cru offense. HSU did a good job taking advantage and kept the clock running.
49 TD by Daniels.

I would also say that HSU penalty's have hurt their offense as well.
When did Bethel and St. Johns join the ASC? ;)

This next possession will be important for both teams.

Not sure of the name but it's the backup from Odessa
Found it... name is Taylor Byrd. 3rd TD pass for his this season since taking over

This is a much better looking MC team. The games against HPU and TLU raised some doubts at the end of the season.
End of the first MC 28-7, Huntingdon first and 10 on the Choctaw 25.
Two long drives by UMHB to move to a 21-7 lead. That is encouraging!
TD drives are 7 plays for 75 yds and 9 plays for 80 yds.
UMHB fumbles the punt and Central scores on the first play. 21-14 UMHB

Bailey has been in and is playing like he did in the MC game. He's making himself very one sided on the option and they are teeing off on him.
UMHB brings the heat on 3rd down and picks off the forced throw. UMHB ball on Central's 42

Great job of broadcasting by the Choctaw announcer. He states the time, score and situation
very frequently. He is very easy to follow, especialy since our webcasting packages do not have integrated time, down, yardage and score "apps" included on them yet.
(And now the Choctaw Vision stream flashes the score and quarter across the bottom of the screen.! )
Nice job by the Cru in Iowa. Noack to Johnson for an 8-yd TD pass. UMHB 28-14. 3+ minutes left in the second quarter.
TD Cru. Fade pass to Davis in which he went up high in the air and brought it down.

Big fumble.
Cru fumbles the ball. Central tries a shot down field and misses the pass
HC -- Baronich 4yd TD run 3:05 left in the half. MC 35-21.
UMHB fumbles have kept them from running away with this game!

I would agree but the kick off coverage has hurt us more today. They scored twice on very short fields.
Huntingdon has made a great drive at the end of the half. 1st and goal from the 4 with 0:26 left.
Choctaws hold. Bad snap on a 20-yd FG attempt.
MC 35 HC 21 at the half.
TD Cru. Daniels 2 yard run.
35 - 14 Cru.
Hearing complaining from announcers about the 1st round matchup and I completely agree. I do have a hard time feeling bad for any team though since we play a 1st round game every year that should be a round 2 or round 3 matchup.
The announcers keep trying to be hopeful, but the last 2 penalties really put them off
The CRU defense needs to keep the pressure on. The last two passes were too easy. There is still lots of time left.
Toby, I tried to warn the Central fans, didn't I? How much time left?
63-7 in Whitewater
Central scores making it a 14 point game. Cru has a big 3rd down play. The option is getting stuffed.
Cru doesn't convert, punts, Central ball as the end of the 3rd qt approaches
Miss College's Wesley Boudreaux just made a diving catch at the end of the 35-yd pass play.
That is a highlight film quality reception. I hope that someone can you-tube it.
Brandon Walls misses a 42-yd FG attempt, way short... 3:06 left in 3Q. MC 42-21.
HC takes over at their 25 yd line.
Can the CRU not defend the pass? Central is picking UMHB apart right now.
Big PAT block by the CRU.
UMHB just gave up another long pass for a td. XP blocked. 35-27. Time for the cru to eat clock. I'd prefer to see Noack over Bailey.

Way to go CRU Defense.
MC leads 56-28.
Wow Bailey runs for the first and fumbles. Central Ball
Did Davis, the Center get hurt?
Wow this is too close. Cru gives up a big play for a 1st down on 4th and 10. Central only about 20 yards from scoring.
MC 56-35. Ridgeway long pass (40-odd yd) to Harrell PAT good. 2:14

Linfield is winning 31-10 over Cal Lu
Looks like MC's Cinderella run may be coming to an end - Wesley just scores again to take a 27-3 lead with 3:38 left in the first half. Chocs have been outgained 275-79 so far.
Make it 34-3 as Wesley gets another stop and drives 58 yards in a little over a minute.
I hope UMHB goes back to the I and pounds the ball with the running game. Linfield has had no answer for the power running game.
I'm not sure I would have changed QBs. Noack had a rhythm going and was playing well. A fumble was not what we needed.

Lucky there. Receiver was wide open
The Dink and Dunk pass game is moving the ball on the Cru.
Ouch. Linfield recovers fumble into the endzone. TD.
Hey Cru fans--close game as expected--your team is very fast on both sides of the ball--I've wacthed most of the Linfield games this year and haven't seen anybody that fast off the line nor have I seen a D close on the ball carrier like the Cru does. Looking forward to the 2nd half! Good luck to your guys (but I sure hope my boys can pull off a win).

Another fine season for the CRU including an ASC co-championship.
Since my oldest son plans on playing at Louisiana College, I will still follow UMHB with great interest but my focus from here on out will the on the Wildcats. I will try to provide info on the happenings in Pineville. Coach Dennis Dunn has LC moving in the right direction and the enthusiasm is growing here in Central Louisiana.

A McMurry 45-yard field goal attempt to open the Third Quarter was blocked by UMHB, preserving the narrow 3-point lead. UMHB's defense is directly responsible for 9 points (touchdown and safety).

Is it done? Or does McMurry have a last streak left??
They have at least one as they just scored but missed the 2 point conversion to make it 43-31. But they just recovered the onside kick with 5:17 left.
Cru defense steps up and stop McM on 4th down to take over with 4:20 left. McM just used their 1st time out.

Why the run by Mullin? I mean, he went for 8 yards, but that's not the play McM was looking for at all...
UMHB does McM two favors, running out of bounds on 2nd down and throwing incomplete on 3rd down. WOW. That's sloppy.
UMHB is stopped and punts to give McM the ball at the 15 with 3:45 left.
Mullin is 38-60 for 504 yards tonight (5 TDs, 1 INT and 5 sacks). Wild, wild game.
That will probably be the game as the Cru defense stops them again on 4th with less than 2 minutes left.
McM will need a pretty impressive streak in these last 2 minutes to pull this one out!
Toby -- I said UMHB by 14. It could be close to that (or not ::))
Big props to McM as they easily could have beat UMHB tonight but the special teams of UMHB really made the difference.
Final UMHB 43 McMurry 31
UMHB fans should be a little concerned by this stat:
Total Offense -
McM 512
UMHB 200
That's got to be more balanced for UMHB to run the table this season. However, that kickoff return for touchdown was a back-breaker for McMurry tonight. Great, fun game to watch. Have a good weekend, Folks!

this was about the game i expected, minus the penalties. 165 yds in penalties is absurd. I'll post my comments on the ASC board though
165 yds in penatlies absurd. Agreed.
My question - and I am just asking -- faulty officiating or faulty playing? ???

Yes. Some of the penalties were caused by the constant barrage of bombs mullin was throwing. The DBs were getting caught trying to catch up to the wideouts and when the receivers were coming back for the ball there would be contact.
But there was this one official, the head linesman, who seemed to throw the most flags. Seemed like he was in a "whose is bigger match" with Fredenburg. At the end of the first half there was a sideline interference penalty on Coach on a first down play that moved the ball from about the 30 back inside the 20. 3 plays later, first down and a penalty back inside the 20. It was a little ridiculous.
Over all I think the game was decently officiated. There were some questionable calls and some that should have been called against McMurry that weren't (home field advantage?), but I have a feeling there will be a whole bunch of butt chewing this week because some of the mental let downs that led to stupid penalties.

Oddly enough, last year's game was a heavily penalized game in Belton as well. Here's the comparison
2010:
First Downs by Penalty:
McMurry 4
UMHB 3
Penalites / Yards:
McMurry 7-59
UMHB 11-163
2009
First Downs by Penalty:
McMurry 2
UMHB 2
Penalites / Yards:
McMurry 11-98
UMHB 10-120
For you math majors that's an average of 220 yards of combined penalties the past two years. Oddly enough (admitedy viewing through McMurry goggles) - last year in Belton, I remember thinking that every time we had a positive gain of over five yards, it was called back for a hold. Turns out ... UMHB was penalized pretty heavy last year as well.
It was pretty lopsided this year, but I think baddog hit it on the head, there were a couple of plays where DB's did what they could do to keep the gain at 15 yards instead of much more ... Already looking forward to next year's matchup in Belton
Fast start to this one!
Noack starts for the Cru over LB and hits his first pass off play action to Johnson. The scores on the option. Feaster strikes back on next possession with a big play to Tasch. and Rockwell scores, 7-7

Holy s*** what a game!! LC has athletes and that always makes a team dangerous. I remember my last year at UMHB I was very impressed with the players they were running out onto the field. UMHB could be very dangerous this year especially having won several close games and being tested for four quarters. Its a great day to be a Crusader!

Final!
Go Cowboys!!!
The HSU-UMHB game was such a big game that it seems the Cru were a little down at LC, especially the defensive backs. Nine passing touchdowns in the last two games against UMHB and an average of 300 yards passing a game. UMHB had better really improve beginning this weekend for Homecoming agianst Miss Coll!!! They have the athletes; just have to get it all together and keep it there. Go Cru!!!

I am definitely not dumb enough Ralph to say that is a crazy thought because I know that HSU is a great team and I would never argue they can't beat us. However until they do I am confident that Pete and the boys have HSU's number. HSU might be killing people, while UMHB has been getting by but when they played each other the Cru walked off the field with a 2 TD margin of victory and I don't see why they couldn't do it again.

If the UMHB's DB will have gotten better, then the margin should prevail. We beat ourselves against UMHB early in the season. We had a down week the game at UMHB. HSU just beat us.
And it may be the "in their head" thing between UMHB and HSU, too.

Ralph, I believe I was saying this summer that McM had their best chance to win vs MHB because it was an early season game and MHB always starts slow. That said, I would say yes McM had a down game, but UMHB's special teams beat McM, not to miss the fact that it was that porous UMHB defensive backfield that handed Mullin his first pick of the year, a pick 6. Couple that with the UMHB QB's not being able to complete a pass and you have a game that was closer than i think it would have been if it was played even a few games later in the season.
I still have questions about the DBs, but UMHB's team at this point in the season is different than the MHB that played McM.
Toby, I'm guessing that Ralph intended to say McM had a down week vs. ETBU.

I'm pretty sure he was talking about UMHB because he was comparing the losses and was saying that if HSU meets UMHB again HSU will likely win. I don't necessarily disagree on that point because HSU has played very well since the first meeting and the Cru has continued to play sketchy football, but I do disagree with the premise that McM lost the game. MHBs special teams took that game.

My bad.
I meant that I thought that McMurry was flat for the long road trip to ETBU the week after the UMHB game. ETBU is a strong team that was up for that game. They took advantage of the chance.
The UMHB special teams did win that McMurry game. I think that special teams and line-play are the last things to fall into place for most teams.
I think that we are in place to have 2 teams in the post-season, especially as the Centennial is falling apart. If Hampden-Sydney can beat arch-rival Randolph Macon, the RMC falls out of contention for Pool C. I just hope that HSU doesn't get sent to UMHB, but I'll bet that HSU at UMHB is a first round game.

I think the only way the old Texas sub-bracket doesn't rear its ugly head is if a team within the driving distance makes the playoffs and there is going to have to be a flight. Other wise the ASC starts the playoffs with a .500 win percentage.

That's some trials the Cowboys have had to endure the past few years. :-[
CRU takes an early lead after a blocked FG attempt that was returned 74 yards for a TD
CRU just kicked an onside kick and recovered.
CRU just ran the ball down their throats.... Daniels in for a 1 yard TD
14 - 0 Cru
UMHB (so a quick glance does not mistake a "CRU" for a "CNU" ;) ) 14, Captains 0

Only a McMurry Alum could make that mistake :)
UMHB recovers a fumble
Daniels in from 20 yards.
UMHB 21 to nothing
9:30 left in first quarter
So far it has been the CRU, the whole CRU and nothing but the CRU!
Bailey throws a pick deep in UMHB's side of the field.

Miles takes a punt for 50 yards down to the 3 yard line. 1st down CRU
Daniels in for the TD.
28 - 0 Crusaders
39 Yard TD for Daniels.
35 - 0 UMHB.
10 minutes left in 2nd quarter
Bailey to Davis for 43 yard TD.
42 - 0 Crusaders
7:03 left in the 2nd
starting to look like a 6-man game
Purple CRUsh!
UMHB up 7 - 0 and driving again. Cru received the ball first and Bailey fumbled on the UMHB 6 yard line. Cru defense held and forced a FG which was blocked. On the second series Bailey fumbled again but recovered it this time
Daniels in from 13 yards out.
UMHB 14 Thomas Moore 0
Bailey fumbles for the 3rd time in the 1st quarter. If Bailey can't hold onto the ball get him out of there. Starting to remind me of the playoff game last year when he kept turning the ball over
Bailey to Damian Davis for a 30 yard TD.
UMHB 21 - 0 with most of the 2nd qtr left to play
60 yard int returned for TD. 28 - 0 umhb
40 yard FG by Cru is good
31 - 0 UMHB
About 4 minutes left in the 2nd qtr
This game makes me think that HSU, LaCollege and McMurry are the #3, #4 and probably #6 teams in the South Region.
Bailey to Davis for a 59 yard TD as time expires in the second qtr.
UMHB 38 - 0 at the half
I'm only able to get the live stats on my iPhone or iPad because UMHB's audio and video don't work with iPhone/ iPad but it appears that the long play was some sort of end of half hail Mary

UMHB was knocked for having the close games this year by some people but it looks like the ASC really had some of the best teams in the South.
That might have been the best pass i've seen @ a umhb game. 60 yds in the air perfect spiral over 3 defenders to davis in stride. davis reacted perfectly to the ball snagged it high and walked in for the score.
Ralph ,Mcm would put up lots of pts on this d
Davis has to be one of the best talents for UMHB at the WR position. His size alone is a huge advantage in DIII but he's also D1 talent

Cru failed to punch the ball in from the 2 and settled for a FG

Cru defense gibes a 50 yard TD pass.
41 - 7 UMHB
ur correct ralph. i don't think they would be near the top of the conference. prob right in the middle
Cru fumbles on next series
Monroe in from 18 yards for a Cru TD.
UMHB 48 - 7
Myles returns the punt for a 50 yard TD.
UMHB 55 - 7

Holy moly. I guess missing this game wasn't such a bad thing, after all. With Wesley up next it might have been better to have more competitive opponents in the first two rounds. Congrats to the Cru and good luck next week!
69 - 7 final
CRU had over 500 yards rushing and just over 200 yards through the air.
I am enjoying the play-by-play by Gordon Mann.
Wesley leads 19-9 with 7 minutes left in the game. :)
Thanks, Ralph.
Frank Rossi did a tremendous job producing today and we got help from Chip Knapp, Wesley's Video Coordinator who also happens to be their offensive coordinator. Welcome to D3. :)

McMurry looks good. 3-0 close to the end of the 1st quarter. It is 50,000 at the game
3-0 MCMurry end of one. MCM driving to start the 2nd
McMurry 10-0 ..................Dominating the game
Mcmurry winning 10-0 with 2:06 in 2nd. McMurry fixing to score. They are wearing UTSA down.
MCM game is on TV
Game is on the Longhorn network for those of you who have Verizon FIOS TV
The Indians ;) are looking really good. They had a FG blocked but then picked off the UTSA pass as they were driving down to score. Just over a minute left in the first half
10-7 McMurry 3rd quarter. McMurry just over threw a ball that would have been a TD. They look good. Real good. UTSA has size and hope McMurry does not wear down now.
McMurry was driving at the end of the 3rd a Wr had ball taken from his hands and at the end of the 3rd looking to score. McMurry playing so well. Morris and Baiza are players and both got hurt and UTSA scored at the end of the 3rd. I promise if there are any two better in the conference, they should be playing D1. 14-10.
Embarassing how bad UTSA "live" stats are - McM has been stuck on the UTSA 49 for at least ten minutes now ::) despite repeated reloads. Gotta say the Hawks are given 'em a helluva game.

I'm not sure this games tells you that McM will be fine in D2. McM has been middle of the pack with these same players in the ASC. I'm not sure how good UTSA really is but this would be a quality win for anyone in Div III. My gut feeling is HSU and UMHB would fair well against UTSA as well.

Especially the way UMHB was playing offense.
Other option is to let the UMHB score real quick and take the ball down 8 with more time left. Too late now though I think.

McMurry really played well in the 2nd half. They could have easily won that game.
Great game, very entertaining.

Nice job McM! The D looks good. Offense looked good in spots. Still need a good running game.

TLU 44 ETBU 34. GREAT WIN FOR THE BULLDOGS
Congratulations to the Bulldogs, Coach Padron and his staff. Big win.
Nice job by the Cru D holding HSU to a FG.
3 - 0 HSU. HSU Defense looked good against the CRU offense on the first drive but the CRU defense came up big holding HSU to a FG.
Looks like the starting RB Wilson is injured based on what I heard from the broadcast
edit: Now the big WR Johnson limps off the field.

Camera is bad and the constant buffering it terrible.
Another INT!!!
INT? I havent seen it
Just saw it. The video broadcast from UMHB must be delayed
Please run the ball.
6 INT's 1 TD for Bailey this year... ouch
CRU fumble recovery
The Cru D is the best unit on the field. They look fast and physical.
Wilson back in the game and scores a TD
14 - 3 CRU
Nice punt return negated by a penalty.
Great catch by HSU to the UMHB 20.
HSU fake field goal to the UMHB 8.
I guess you have to pick if you want to watch or listen if you use the HSU broadcast since the video has no audio. The CRU video broadcast is better but it keeps buffering and it's about a minutes or two delayed.
You can open two different browser sessions and use one for the video and one for the audio.
CRU defense give up a TD with 3 seconds left in the half
14 - 10 CRU
I missed the start of the game. Did UMHB or HSU get the ball first?
HSU got the ball to start the game
I thought the CRU Defense looked great and the Offense played well at times. They must stop the turnovers. I liked the backup RB that came in and just ran it down the throat of HSU. Maybe we will see him mixed in a bit more with Wilson back. Would be a great change of pace to have a quick speed guy run the rock and then pound it.
CRU INT returned to inside the HSU 10
A pass. Why?
Bailey pass for TD on 3rd down
21 - 10 CRU
1st and goal and we throw 2 passes. Neither one looked very good. Thank goodness we scored.
Great blitz call by the Cru.
Keep pounding the ball
Wilson in for a TD. 23 yard TD run.
28 - 10 CRU
What a move and run for the TD!
CRU INT deep in HSU side of the field
That was a weird play. Cru get a turnover.
Bailey 28 yard TD pass to Johnson
35 - 10
Beautiful option pass from Bailey for a TD.
Garbage time TD by HSU (48 yards).
35 - 17 UMHB wins!
Tough loss Cowboys!
Good come-from-behind win for the Crusaders! ;)

We don't have LCs players. We can't throw from the spread. It is killing us.
Nice hold by the D.
Bailey scrambles for a TD. Nice run.
Bailey's score was Bailey's strength.
Over half of our running plays have been zone reads and we don't do that very well.
One score out of 5 possessions in the first half. Good defense from LC.
Way to go D.
Okay, has the Spread/Pistol set up the option?

I don't know. :) That is why this discussion of the UMHB offense with the current personnel has been so interesting.
Last series we ran 3 straight times for 61 yards. Now we pass again.
That series looked familiar. Geez.
The last pass was almost intercepted.
Halftime UMHB 17-14.
McM HPU are scoreless after 1Q.
UMHB has completed 2 down field throws and one of those was on a bootleg.
McM 7-0 11 minutes left in the 2Q.
84 yd drive on 9 pass plays.
I'm curious about what the second half will look like. I like what the defense was doing. I hope they can keep up that intensity.
I agree Toby. The defense is playing great.
HPU gets an INT in the end zone to prevent a score. McM 7-0. mid 2nd quarter. 5:56
The CRU is rollin'
Bailey is carrying the ball a lot today. I hope he is up to it physically. Lots of zone reads.
Who are the broadcasters for UMHB? Anybody know?
I think one is Scott garner and the other is a former coach.
The Cru needs to put their foot on LCs neck and press hard

As I watch this game, I am conflicted as to whehter I want a conference co-championship/tri-championship and a chance at a coin flip for the playoffs or a better chance at a Pool C bid with LC losing and McMurry beating them.

If ETBU can recover from this kickoff return, then a win over UMHB might be the thing that turns their program around (from its Jekyll/Hyde tendencies).

LC returned kickoff for TD but it was called back for holding.

Exciting & entertaining game. Mc defense is tough.

McMurry has moved the ball from their 32 to score on 7 play drive. McM leads 15-0. 7:33 left in the first quarter.
McM down 24-21 and just punted again. Did we take them too lightly?
ok now we are up 28-24. But I notice Stephen Warren is in, is Jake hurt?
Is my video delay that great? :P :o >:(

Yes, Mullin hurt his leg on a sack when he fell.
My video stream is 7:06 left and a 21-21 score! MissColl has called timeout considering a 52-yd FG attempt.
Live Stats has the score McMurry 35 MC 24 @ the half.
We have also had a 108-yd KO Return for a TD.
Wow! That 52-yd FG would have been good from 60 yds out with the South Wind at his back!
MC leads 24-21!

Sweet win to close out the season. Go Cowboys!
Good luck to ASC team(s) in the playoffs!
Thanks to all the military veterans and active duty personnel. You're our heroes!!!

I have just seen the Warren to Long TD pass. McMurry 28-24. 1:06 left in the half.
What a delay!

Glad that Warren is moving the offense so well.

MissColl TD pass. Great catch to conclude a 6-play 50 yd drive. McMurry leads 56-31. Early 4th Quarter.
21-yd TD pass from Reyer to Buford-Hughes
I've enjoyed the MC broadcasts and all of the whining and complaining. It started with the officiating and now they are crying about McM going Division II and helping their recruiting for their Div III run this year

Haha
IMHO, Mississippi College is the next most capable and likely team to go D-II in the ASC. They were in the Gulf South Conference before they moved to D-III and the ASC. They would not have to make the long bus trips to Texas if they moved back to D-II and the Gulf South Conference.
(UMHB and HSU have been insistent on their remaining in D-III. I am just guessing about MissColl.)
Final McMurry 63 Mississippi College 38
McMurry scored 35 straight points in the late 2nd /early 3rd quarters.

UMHB has run 39 plays to 12 by Redlands.
Another great bootleg by Bailey. TD pass to the Fullback.
2 18 play drives in a row. So we go to the pistol. >:(
The pistol needs to go back in mothballs. It is changing the momentum of the game. Bailey is great on bootlegs and the option. I just don't understand this.

dominating first drive. wesley size advantage is obvious. defense on the field, lets see how they do.
UMHB has to keep them out of 3rd and short.
Wesley's first drive was 16 plays, 80-yd into the wind.
The announcer says the wind is in the 20 MPH range out of the south.
Nice D by the Cru. Great field position.
Holding penalty on first down breaks the drive.
2:30 left, punting into the wind. About 32 yards on the punt.
UMHB 1st and 10 from their 42.
Wesley holds. UMHB punts with the wind.
Punter kicked it 7 yds deep into the end zone. A net 22 yds on the punt.
Wesley starts at the 20 for the 3rd time in the first quarter.
End of the first quarter. Wesley has the wind from the south end of the field.
Very impressed with their QB. Passing is been very accurate
nice punt return by the Cru. Ball at midfield
Bailey is really good at the bootleg.
4th down conversion by the Cru to the 29.
The Cru has been in the pistol 5 times and made 1 play. Not our best offense.
Wow 43 yard FG into the wind. Made it by inches
What a catch by Wesley on a tipped ball.
Wow! Impressive.
TD Wesley. CRU better put points on the board before the half or at the very least hold Wesley from scoring again before the half
defense doing the job. similar offense to salisbury so wesley knows what to do against it. offense is doing the job, ball protection and clock control. continue both and win the game.
Need to mix it up a bit and thrown on an early down.
Wesley is winning the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.
CRU punts and Wesley get the ball back with just over 2 minutes.
That was way too easy. 78 yd TD pass by Wesley.
Wesley 78 yard TD. That could do it.
great play call and pass. controlling the lines. 21 - 3 lead, excellent first half on offense. I think this is the best defense that UMHB has played against all year.
Passing game working right now. Makes me wonder why it took us so long to start throwing downfield.
INT. >:(
Int but the passing game was looking pretty good that drive.
great job by the defense in the first half. gave up some yards there, but shut down UMHB's run game just like last year.
Wesley has trouble playing zone pass. IF you see Kapepula go outside you may see man to man in sedond half
Quote from: umhbalum on December 03, 2011, 02:03:46 PM
Int but the passing game was looking pretty good that drive.
The key word there is INT.
They have to open up the offense now if they want a chance to get back in this game and can't get conservative because they fear the INT. We have no choice but to start slinging the ball around and taking chances.
That will lead to disaster. How often do teams do well when they abandon what they do best.
You don't abandon the run but they need to pass more on early downs and run to keep the defense honest. Wesley's run defense is better than their pass defense. With 2 quartes left and down 3 scores you have to take some chances and start going downfield more often.
This 1st possession by the Cru will be critical. They need to score and then it is a ball game again.
The Cru defense has got to get Wesley off the field without it being a kickoff after a TD. ;)
Nice run by Hudson and a face mask penalty adding on to the gain.
That was the worst thing that could have happened. INT. Return to the Cru 29.
Well the game plan for the second half looked spot on which was throw more early and mix in the run. The QB has to execute and isn't.
Add another INT
Big stop by Cru defense
INT. Please go back to power, option and bootlegs. How many passes do we have to have intercepted.
Well add another INT. the throw wasn't even close.
Is Simms a better passer?
As demonstrated all year, we don't throw well on drop back passes and the pistol kills us. Bailey is very good at bootlegs and play action passes. The game called for Bailey has not been to his benefit.

It's a catch 22.... We can't get back in this game with 2 quarters left and trying to pound the ball against this defense. The problem isn't passing the problem is the lack of execution by our QB.
2 int's and no points, could have put the game out of reach. hope is does not come back to haunt them.

Well, that is a PROBLEM if you are trying to pass! :)
Option to the short side on 3rd down. Early pitch, no gain.
Yes it is. I also agree with you that we don't have to run the pistol to throw the ball. Bootleg and play action is better suited for Bailey.
His confidence looks shot.
Is Simms any better at passing?
We canthave another series where we run an option on 3rd and long be ause were scared to throw another INT. if that's the case then might as well see what the other QB has
Defense has looked good this half.
If we stay in the pistol, I have no hope of a comeback.
Why o Why?
It just baffles me that you can have the WR's we have in DIII and we can't figure out how to do a better job passing.
Gotta have someone that can get them the ball. We've proven all year that the pistol isn't the best offense for our players.
dont like the offense for wesley right now, too conservative. should have learned from the comeback last week that you cant let the other team stay in the game.

I missed how we scored.
Bailey threw a 20 something yard pass down to the one. Ran it in for the TD
Thanks.
3 straight runs and no first down
Got to start throwing.

no reason for this game being close. 2 int's early in half should have been the end. now have to take control and move the ball.
That would have been a huge turnover.

Maybe this is UMHB's year to win it all!
hate that stupid jumbo package. needed the 7 pts on the road to start the game. wasted chance.
nice video feed from LC, announcers are good.
wesley still cant get a running game going. O line at least giving Sot some time. LC making nice open field tackles. Wesley needs to get a drive going to get lead.
nice change out of timeout. robinson able to pick up some yards running. sot to kodoussou? for TD 7 - 3 wesley.
nice drive by LC. monteque is a nice big back. their o line is controlling the line of scrimmage. wesley in a dog fight here. need to put together a nice drive here to have lead at half and get ball to start 2nd half. LC running quick plays not letting wesley change up d line.
great individual effort by robinson, wesley up 14 - 10. d needs to step up and shut down LC and get O ball back before the half.
so much for the good feed. screen freezes and comes back and LC up 17 - 14. 2 int's and a fumble keeping LC in the game. Tighten it up in the second half or Wesley could be looking at the first 2 game losing streak in a long time.

yes, tie game at 22. how good could this team be if they eliminate mistakes. 4 to's and minus 8 - 10 min of possession and they are tied. this would be a huge win if they can get it.

YES, THAT IS JUST AWESOME. Wesley is not supposed to win this game, but they did. Trip to ETBU, away at Salisbury, home game against maybe the best team in the country in which they had a chance to win, and then this trip to LA. This team could be very good by getting this gut check win.

Please elaborate on the travel. I would expect a flight to NOLA and drive to Pineville.
Ralph, you are astute to the game. 4 turnovers should be a killer and would have been for most teams. Certainly they were favored and if both play a clean game they win easier, but the is why they play the game.
Dont have the exact issues, but lets just say that it apparently wasnt as simple as a flight and drive. leave wesley at 330 am friday, bus to balt. fly to fla, not sure where, coach misses flight and catches up to team in LA. Not sure what happened after that. sounds like it was a long Friday for the team.

From what i've read, I don't believe LC is getting enough credit against Wesley. To say if Wesley plays clean football that they win easily I believe is false. LC's defense forced the turnovers with great coverage, thus the QB had to force some throws. Now don't get me wrong, Wesley is a great team, a National powerhouse. However, watching the game in person, I truly believe that LC went toe to toe with Wesley the whole game and showed that we can hang with some of the best in the nation.
Ditto, LaCollegeFan, ditto.
LACollegeFan - I agree with you that LC's performance against Wesley had nothing to do with luck. You guys have a very good team and looked to have had a solid game plan against us. Your RB was a stud. We didn't have our best game and made stupid mistakes that helped make the game so close, but that's to your credit for making some of that happen. It's tough to get respect in DIII and it seems to take many years of solid performance to be mentioned with the big boys - have to use that as motivation.

I agree 100%. I just wanted to make sure people know that this game was a 3 point game because of the way LC played, not because Wesley played its most horrible game of the season. A lot of respect for Wesley though. After the game, every Wesley player stood in line and shook every players hand, telling them how good of a game it was, and good luck the rest of the season.

CRU will have wind at their back in the 4th and I anticipate the Cru having more success on both sides of the ball
LC has put a stop to the running of Carson (15 carries, 30 yards) and leads Sul Ross 41-24 with a little more than half of the fourth quarter to play.

Or not. Nice 40+yd pass from Bailey and a 2pt conversion put the Cru back up 39-32 with 7 and change to play.
Observation, UMHB and the crowd finally woke up.

I couldn't believe how quiet the UMHB side of the stadium was for most of the game. I go to a game or two each year and its never been like this.
In the 4th the crowd came alive and the team seemed to respond to it
Video feed working well today!
At the SRSU HSU event. Not much of a game because SRSU is devoid of defense 42-7 HSU WITH 3:45 to go in the half. I'm going home to continue my illness
I noticed the stud RB (Carson) for SRSU isn't playing for some reason today.

Cru up 21 - 0 with 7:03 left in first quarter. 2 INT's for the Cru so far.
Start of the 2nd quarter. Cru and LC traded out a couple possessions to end the half. Cru ball starting the 2nd qtr
Cru march down the field and score again. TD pass to Wilson on a screen

UMHB fails to score a TD on first and goal, and almost lose the wind. FG is good with 3.9 sec left in the first quarter.
The wind is worth 15 yds. in field position today.
UMHB 12 Wesley 7.
Wesley is the "Wolverines" not the "Wolves". That is at least thrice today the radio announcer has made that mistake.
big break on the lateral and offsides. way to take advantage, take the lead and lets see what happens now.
First time watching the Cru this year. This isn't exactly how I pictured them being. Hopefully they can turn things around.
Yes, that fumbled lateral was the big play in the first half.
UMHB had a chance to put Wesley down by 12 points and did not do it.
New half, new game. Reset momentum.

I don't know what the punter was thinking, but he hesitated and let the machine out the gate...(still think you guys should had home field advantage)
Nevertheless, it was a great game form UMHB, just showed that no team this year in unstoppable per se. Looks as if you guys have a good group of guys coming back.

55-24 Eastern New Mexico with a minute remaining and Sul Ross with the ball on their 1. Quite a different outcome than last year where the game (at ENM) where the Lobos held the lead thru three quarters before succumbing to a 21 point outburst in the fourth.
LC trails Webber International, a NAIA school from Florida, 6-3 at the half. LC defense is playing well. Offense was sputtering until true freshman Easton Melancon came in at QB in the last the 2 minutes and moved the team into FG position.

toby, hope you are well. that is the only way that this game will stay close. the o line is really bad right now. they dont even block a guy up the gut on the field goal. your QB looks nice, with the scrambling to ruin any good defense.
This just isn't pretty. The Crusader D is swallowing up the Offensive line and the UMHB QB is McSweenying all over the place..... Oh well.

On the video feed does everyone else have the announcers one play behind the action?
Both UMHB and Wesley audio are MORE than one play behind.

He was in uniform tonight but never put his helmet on once the game started, perhaps he could have gone if necessary?
I notice the verbage that the current corps of broadcasters use.
Does it reflect on the math education and current math education theory that these broadcasters had that prompts them to report "a gain of positive yardage"?
Does that mean that you slide your number to the right on the number line?
Is it an oxymoron to say a "gain" of "positive yardage"?
Have you ever heard the announcer say a "gain" of "negative yardage"? In that case, is a "gain" synonymous with a carry?
LC is sticking in the game, trailing 38-27 with 12 minutes left in the 4th, just prior to a UMHB TD pass.
Gain of positive yardage sounds more like redundancy than an oxymoron, doesn't it?

Yes, but more than anything else it sounds ridiculous, which I think was the point of the post. I do concede that "Gain of positive yardage" isn't a figure of speech that combines contradictory terms.
Indeed, that may have been the point of the post, but not to be aware of the vast difference between an oxymoron and redundance is ridiculous as well.
Watching the game on TV at home. Their QB is getting a lot of yards on the scramble and draw. Probably time to put a spy on him
Big Int by the Cru deep in their territory and returned 65 yards. Cru finally punched it in on 4th and goal
14-0 Cru
I'm getting concerned about this game. We had two possessions on the 2nd quarter where we should have put points on the board. We came out of the half and had a 3 and out. Now the Redlands are driving. We need to put more points on the board because the Redlands are in this game at 14-0 with 25 min to go. The Redlands QB scramble is hurting us today. Hopefully the offense can find something in the passing game as they are starting to stack the box on us.
Wow Cru defense and special teams comes up huge! Sack fumble on 3rd down when they were on our 20. They had 4th and 21 and pooch punted in which we took it from our 5 to the house.
Huge score and momentum changed.

things are going well Wesleydad. I mostly agree with you about being too conservative, but there were other things about the game that bothered me more. I don't get the rotating QBs. They haven't done that like that much this season. I don't think it was helpful. I don't get the field goal with 3:29 left. They were averaging 4.5/ carry and had only been held short of 3 yds once on that drive. Even if the CRU only get 2 yds, I like the defenses chances at creating something with UWW on th 1. And the. There were the non-calls which I was ok with until the crap PI penalty was called. All in all it seemed to me like the game plan was don't lose rather than let's win.
I have to give UWW credit though the defense looked good and the offense was patient enough to use UMHBs aggressiveness against them

2Q McM 28 D-2 Lincoln MO 7.

Middle of the 3rd Quarter. D-2 Oklahoma Panhandle State got a safety to go ahead of McMurry 22-14.

Waiting quietly, we have all seen up on Linfield before. Lots of football to play.
Oh.
Yellow really runs to open space. Hard to 1-on-1 tackle.

Yes, I was standing in that corner and 15 from UMHB laid the guy out pretty hard while the play was on the other side of the field. Questionable call but really an unnecessary hit.

McM 29 yd FG 14:29 in 2Q. McM 17-0
McM 17 SW 7; 5 yd run for TD; 8:36 2Q.
Nice that LINFIELD and UMHB get to watch each other today.
LINFIELD just wrote down "will run out of punt formation."
UMHB:center shall be more consistent with placement of his snaps.
SW 32 yd FG
Tied at 17: 4Q 12:41 left.
Wilborn TD 13-yd run for SW 24-17 lead with 2:24 left in the game.
Final. 24-17 Southwestern
You got me finally to over to watch, Ralph.

Interesting watch of the 14-14 UMHB-ETBU game.
I'm here with Kelly Boggs and yes, it has been an interesting game. ETBU came out pretty hot and tried to do some things I wouldn't consider "normal" but that's why I am in the stands. Tie game at the half with UMHB getting the 2nd half kick.
I have to give kudos to the Tigers.. came out hungrier...The Cru have got to execute better...D is a beast but our O has got to become even beastier..)is that a word?)
UMHB coaching adjustments should help.
If game stays close will Fredenburg hand the keys to Jackson?
The UMHB D is what is going to win this game. ETBU's offense hasn't done a whole lot.
At a 14 point margin I bid you adieu to watch the Storm Game in the NW.
UMHB 10 HSC 9 good game
UMHB 10 HSU 15
UMHB 13 HSU 15
UMHB 20 HSU 15
20 to 15 final very good game HSU turn over probably the difference.

No way we don't get a Little 12 reference from Pat on the podcast come Monday.
I am watching the HSU - McMurry video feed.
I am a "function over form" type of guy.
The functional elements of anything out-weigh style color etc.
The feature that I value MOST on a number is the readability of the number, including the font used, the color contrast, the visibility of numbers from numerous angles and any other distinguishing feature you can describe. In American sports history, the New York Yankees put numbers on the uniforms so fans from afar could identify the players. I don't care if the the background/dominant color is black, white, purple, gold, maroon etc. I want numbers to contrast with the background.
In this case, the HSU football uniforms fail.
Is that ETBU v. SRSU halftime score correct? ???
Wow! :o

Final HSU 47 McMurry 17. (It was 13-0 at the half. They just wore us down.)
Congratulations to McMurry PK Tanner Wright for finishing 35-35 on PATs. He added a 40yd FG today as well.
Nobody here?
His name is Sneed? Good sack on Sam Riddle from backside by him.
Riddle passes TD next play though. 3-7 LINFIELD.
HSU pass. Lead 10-7.
Oh BTW....Redlands 21-7 3:00 in 1st.
LINFIELD 14-10 2:30 2nd
UMHB 14-21 trails.
Cru safety.
16-21.
UMH 23-21
CRU scores again
Redlands scored 28-30.
LINFIELD misses 3rd field goal. Still 14-10.
WOW :o
MHB scores again! 37-28
LINFIELD score. Actually kick extra point. 21-10
LINFIELD 7 minute drive for a field goal. 24-10.
3:00
Hey y'all.
I declare this my privaye page.
7-3 Cru 11:00 in the 2
27-3 UMHB start of the 4th
There you are!
Congratulations. One helluva team.
Glad to have another poster on here.
Thx for the updates.
Wheaton's defense is bearing up well but with the exception of the one drive have not gotten anything going in the first half. UMHB can only turn the two interceptions on Wheaton's side of the field into ten points to lead 10-3 at half.
Blocked punt for TD recovered by Baylor Mullins is huge!
UMHB 17 - 3 Early 3Q
7-6 halfway through the 3rd.
Not a game like it this year.
The lone Crusader TD a result of 2 great athletes putting together a Hail Mary.
Mary cannot give up a turnover and let UMU back.
Great Blake Jackson drive. 14-6. 4th Q
A tremendous Samoan interception and a Mullins fake punt seal the Stagg.
NWC in game updates has your back.
go cru
Fortunate the bad throw & INT didn't end up costing UMHB any points. No more stupid plays!
Unless they are stupid throws into what, quadruple coverage by UW-O. ;D
Impressive first half after giving up that long opening drive to the Titans. 30 more minutes!
There you go, Ron. 1st of a couple I'm predicting.
Congats to the CRU. :-*
Beginning of the 4th quarter at D-2 UT-Permian Basin, SRSU 31, UTPB 16.
Final SRSU 47-22
Halftime SAGU 35 HPU 20.
Final SAGU 63 HPU 34
LC 24, (NAIA) Wayland Baptist 10 at the half
LC 52-20; 4Q 7:14 remaining
Final LC 59-20
The Purple, Gold, and Cardinal on the field at the same time always mean good viewing action.
We've only just begun....
UMHB O looking ok, but still not where it needs to be. Linfield O looks solid as well. Our D has played well but has gotten lucky.
But still, HSU, just what you ordered, MHB is enormous, mobile, and strong in key positions.
Oh, they just scored again. This time not a 70 yard Josey run or a kick-off return. Just a nice pass that worked well.
Good night, Irene.
A shoutout to the color broadcaster on the ETBU webcast in the ETBU McMurry football game who commented on a play by the "Indians". ;-)

:) Did your auto-correct take you out?
OK, so Robinson barely gets one away running from the blitz. Good enough for Josey to grab to the one. Miller basically head-down untouched for 7-0.
Finally.
I DID proofread after posting, Ralph. :D
ST. has seen film on all these plays.
Robinson going to have to settle down. Coaches need to flash something new.
I like Miller with some edge carries. (and that comes from a lounge chair in Southern California so what do I know?)

I thought that it bounced off the right upright!
Huge clock error that gave UST extra time.
The UMHB O-Line has been the victim of a human rights violation so far.
???
Anyone else noticing ST. players bumping MHB players after a play is over? Plenty of room to walk around a guy or stop and let him pass. 3rd time I've seen it. It's rare in the games I watch.
I've seen it the opposite direction, but I'm not unbiased. Haven't seen anything egregious.
I didn't notice it on the TD return.
I'd love to have Wilkerson on my side. He's ridiculous.
Great game..............
The Crusaders are starting to give the same treatment to the ST O-Line now.
These defenses are amazing.
And so is UMU.
With the first D in there I'd predict a turnover at this point. Not now.
Bending the Qb to seal the game. Poor Perra. Never felt him coming.
UMHB 14-0 minutes into the game.
Cru gets a fumble recovery deep into BP
TD Cru, about a 40 yard TD pass to josey
I expect Mr. M. Miller will get his today.
NWC crew in Texas---interesting
Wow UW-O misses a 45 yard FG with 1 second left to tie the game and force OT but misses.
MU wins by 3
The Fred better makes some adjustments at half and light a fire under the team somehow.
This is what the Cru does, love it or hate it but they get up and play conservative and let defense win the game.
Wilkerson calls for a fair catch at the UMBH 10, fumbles, ball goes into end zone. B-Port can't recover, touchback.
B-Port gets interception 2 plays later.

I was referring to muffed punts, fumbles, picks, etc....but I totally get their game plan. Might have to change things up against MT U though.....can't afford to get conservative next week.
Brockport is playing better than I expected, however the CRU defense is playing the way they have played all year.....lights out.........

i thought it was him but was too far away with no glasses to tell and then Randy announced CR3. watched the broadcast this morning and saw that.
I'll never rule out Josey taking some snaps at Qb.
