I know you're joking, and I know arguably times are tough, but it's hard to think of the words 'Carnegie...Mellon...saving on costs' without doing a bit of a double take.

Next thing you know they'll paywall their streams, can't imagine anyone who would resort to that.

Bard was a lot more competitive with him.  Even with their record they were never an easy out, every team regardless of standings had to bring their A game because they could punish you.  For most years that was not the case with Bard. They shot a lot of threes under Linehan and were a lot more uptempo than previous Bard teams.   He seemed to get a lot out of his players who also seemed to enjoy playing for him.

The Serpone interview was one of the better ones in my opinion, my thoughts on the Amherst program are well documented but I've consistently said that the results Serpone gets are quite admirable.  I was pretty impressed with his answers on the philosophical and leadership side of coaching.  It's very difficult to get a group of 25 kids aged 18-23 to all be on the same page and uniformly buy in to something but he seems to do it on a yearly basis.  I do think they are sometimes unfairly criticized in terms of tactics which he alluded to.  Yea they do play back to front sometimes but when they have the ball they move it well and keep it on the floor.

Kudos to SC for asking some difficult questions but without being confrontational about it.  Of course, there were things I definitely did not agree with (my thoughts are well known) but that's the beauty of SC's channel, it's awesome to get a look under the hood of a perennial national championship contender and see things from their point of view.

If Top Drawer Soccer is to be believed then Lucas Fecci appears to be heading to Grand Canyon for his 5th year.

Former Saint player and assistant coach Corey Begley was just announced as the new HC at Washington College.  The Downs coaching tree continues to grow.

Fauth returning provides a big boost obviously, on top of what was already returning.  The league didn't do preseason predictions last year but at this point I'd be confident in saying SLU and Vassar would be picked 1st and 2nd in either order.  SLU loses some great players including Sibanda, but there's still a lot returning.  Several key players missed extended parts of the season last year due to injury as well.  2 first years were thrown into the back line last season and noticeably improved throughout the whole campaign, I think if the Saints have success this season it will be due to the back line resuming the program's old ways.  Hard to tell obviously until we see things in person, only 3 months away!

Seems to me that Vassar is finally starting to mold into the same program profile as the NESCACs/Centennials in that the school reputation is finally selling itself to the upper tier group of players.  Not that Vassar was ever a bad program, but being similar to the aforementioned schools they never really seemed to consistently attract the type of players that ended up there on a yearly basis.  Now they are truly a national program and it can only continue to improve the quality of the league.

Of course, this is all academic, who knows what program is lying in the weeds waiting to pounce on the upcoming season.

Couple schedules have been posted.  One that stands out so far is Union's.  Total opposite non-conference slate compared to the Guinn years.   The Garnet have Oneonta, Western New England, Williams, New Paltz and UMass Boston on the non-con docket  :o

Looks like Cortland losing the SUNYAC championship knocked Rochester out.  Given the gaudy offensive numbers this year's senior class had every year, pretty disappointing way to go out.  First round exits in the NCAA tournament followed by this season where they didn't make it.  Just shows how important pitching is.

Not sure if Rochester is in at large contention, but they just got eliminated by RIT in the LL tournament.  Same story every season come playoffs, they have the hitting but run out of pitching pretty quick.

Good to see new faces on this board.   Clarkson has a new AD so hopefully things change a bit for the better.  The lacrosse team created a buzz this spring so maybe it will spill over in to the entire department with the change in regime.

@NESCAC1 -- Here is another recruit for Bowdoin:

Matteo Cervone, Haldane HS (NY), 6-5, SG:https://sportsrecruits.com/athlete/matteo_cervone

Got to see him play at the NYS final 4 back in March.  Solid player, pretty polished under the rim.  Needs some development like most players but he has a decent amount of athleticism.  Listed at guard along with forward but he played center/PF for Haldane, didn't see him take many outshot shots.   He's big enough to play forward in dIII.

Looks like Vassar’s Eric Wnorowski is using his extra year to move up to division I and play at the College of Charleston. CofC soccer has been in the news of late with program alum Troy Lesesne getting appointed interim head coach for the NY Red Bulls.

Tautvydas Kupstas is heading to division II, will be playing for West Florida next season.  Great player who more than earned a chance to play a level up.

Looking at Cortland's roster, I would be shocked if this team didn't win a championship in the next few years.  Most of their lineup and pitching staff are sophomores.

Ike Irabor gets picked up by the Giants for rookie mini camp.  Would be cool as a Giants fan to watch a LL guy on the team.
