Here's two non-conference games for Scranton ... MAC Freedom teams Kings and Stevens. I know last year was part 1 of home/away vs Stevens so should be at Scranton this year. Kings schedule is out there with Scranton on it.

A few more transfers of note ... Collin Jones of Lebanon Valley will be using his extra year of eligibility playing for D2 Lock Haven U in 23-24; Jalen Watkins will use his extra year of eligibility and return to Arcadia as a grad student; Stephen Braunstein has transferred from Scranton to Stevens as a grad student for his extra year of eligibility

When it comes to O'Neil, it is true that he was a very accomplished high school and post grad player playing with and against some really good competition. Had the opportunity to see him play in multiple high level AAU events prior to his prep school year against many, many future D1 players and he certainly fit the part of a player who had the potential to be an impact player at a school like Harvard. If I recall correctly, he had a dozen or more D1 offers. How/why he never met those expectations at Harvard is a mystery (the comment about him being a tweener at the D1 level is as good a theory as any). In regards to how impactful he will be at JHU, I think if he puts up numbers anything like his brother did at JHU (7-8 pts / 4-5 reb) the new coach will be thrilled. Assuming Carson James is back, you can expect the bulk of the scoring to come from James, Windley, Johansson and Yeutter (assuming he is still around). Thybulle (although not a great scorer) will do his thing and will certainly draw plenty of attention in the post.  That definitely leaves a great opportunity for O'Neil to have plenty of impact on the success of JHU next season.

Swat had all of their relevant players take off the 2020-2021 school year. So In addition to the three mentioned being done, DeAngelo and Caprise have 1 year left (not 1 plus a Covid year).

Congrats to all the recipients of CC All-Conference recognition. DeAngelo really separated himself from his peers as the season progressed and definitely earned the player of the year, and has to be on All-American teams. Other first team players seem like the right choices, and was happy to see Rubino recognized on the first team as he was without question the breakout performer in the CC this year. Hughes and Gaines close out their careers as a couple of all timers for their respective schools. 

Thybulle as repeat Defensive Player of the Year is a bit of a mystery but given that Hopkins captured first place in regular season, the coaches gave him the nod. Quite honestly Thybulle regressed in every statistical category from last year and you can't have him on the floor in last few minutes of a tight game because he can't make a foul shot. Thinking Caprise is the right choice for DPOY. Rookie of the year had several worthy candidates, but Nocito is a solid choice. ROY could have easily gone to Edmond from Dickinson, Hanson or Paquette from Swat, or Sujeta from McDaniel. All have bright futures ahead of them. A bit surprised that Stafford was the 2nd team choice ahead of his teammate Schaller. Gettysburg really bounced back from a slow start to the season and was clearly the 3rd best team by the end of the season, and if you are watching their games, Schaller is the guy ... as he goes, Gettysburg goes. Nice to see Frink from Washington College get HM recognition as he had a heck of a season, but I was surprised Mann from Dickinson did not get recognized with HM as he had a very impressive season and was probably the most consistent post player in the conference.

Enjoyed the season a great deal. Good luck to Swat and Hopkins in the NCAA's. Congratulations and best wishes to all of the seniors closing out their college careers.

Great game for sure and full credit to Swarthmore for coming back they way they did against a really, really good Hopkins team. DeAngelo was tremendous, and great work from Caprise and Corzine. Hopkins really missed Quarry in this game. These two teams remain several steps above the rest of the conference, and honestly it is not necessarily that they are more talented than the rest of the conference. The intensity, focus, commitment, player investment and team first approach at all times truly separates them from the rest of the conference. I could legitimately make the argument that Gettysburg, Ursinus and Muhlenberg have more talented individual players, but as collective units those teams are no where near Swat and Hopkins.

Both were disappointed in their NCAA performances last year.  With both hosting first weekend this year, I am sure the expectations are high.

For the record, Spencer Freedman graduated high school (not prep school) in June of 2018 and promptly turned 20 two weeks later. While his classmates were graduating high school at 18, he was graduating at 20. The reason he was able to do this is because the California high school athletic governing body has a rule that states you can still be eligible to play sports in high school as long as you are 19 or younger on June 15th (he was 19 and 350 days at that point). The vast majority of states follow a August 31st or Sept 1st date for this. These rules are typically in place for hardship scenarios and kids with social or economic disadvantages.  Freedman is obviously an outstanding student (having first attended Harvard and now NYU), there was no academic or hardship reason for him to still be in high school at 20 years old. So clearly an orchestrated effort that started in middle school to get him the opportunity to play D1 basketball at an elite institution - which worked, so good for him. Heck, I guess it could be even more distorted had he attended a prep school for a year after high school. When you attend an Ivy league school as an athlete, you know you are signing on for only four years of eligibility at that institution. So that choice was made by he and his family. He had no intention of playing D3 basketball at any time in his career. I get it, things happened and here he is at NYU for two years and will still be playing next year as he approaches age 26. Nothing against Freedman as I am sure he is an outstanding young man, but this can't be the example of how D3 athletics should work.
