Hey Pat/Gordon/Dave do you want a start a new thread for 2016-17??
The NESCAC concludes their regular season Sunday with 1 game (Williams @ Bates). Seeds 1 (Tufts), 2 (Middlebury), 3 (Amherst), 4 (Wesleyan) & 5 (Trinity [CT]) are set and locked with the rest of the tournament field set and locked as well: Bates, Hamilton & Williams will be the other 3 teams competing with the first 5 for the auto, pool A bid. A Bates win puts Bates (6), Hamilton (7) & Williams (8) while a Williams win will leave Williams (6), Bates (7) and Hamilton (8). First game are on campus sites 2/18; semifinals and finals are on the site of the highest remaining seed after the quarterfinals Saturday 2/25-Sunday 2/26.
The NESCAC tournament is set:
#7 Bates (15-9, 4-6)
@ 2/18 2:00 PM
#2 Middlebury (22-3, 8-2)
#6 Williams (17-7, 5-5)
@ 2/18 2:00 PM
#3 Amherst (17-6, 7-3)
#5 Trinity (CT) (15-9, 6-4)
@ 2/18 3:00 PM
#4 Wesleyan (19-5, 6-4)
#8 Hamilton (16-8, 4-6)
@ 2/18 2:00 PM
#1 Tufts (19-5, 8-2)
Semifinals 2/25 at the highest seed remaining after the quarterfinals.
Tufts, Middlebury & Wesleyan should all be NCAA tournament teams no matter what happens in the quarterfinals or the rest of the NESCAC tournament. The winner of Amherst/Williams will probably get added to that list as well (more so Amherst than Williams). The loser of Amherst/Williams will be squarely on the pool C bubble, but Amherst is probably in better shape than Williams is. The other 3 teams (Bates, Hamilton, Trinity) have no realistic pool C chances and need to win the automatic bid to get in.
