Congratulations to Rowan's Matt Woods and Danny Serreino. Both selected in MLB First Year Draft. Woods was selected in the 29th round (871 overall) by the Los Angeles Angels and Serreino was picked in the 32nd round (954 overall) by the Cincinnati Reds. They are the 23rd and 24th players to be drafted from the baseball program.

Rowan Opens Season with 1-0 Win Over Stevens

Baseball is back in Glassboro!

Senior Drew Ryback threw five scoreless innings as the #24 Rowan baseball team opened the 2020 season with a 1-0 win over Stevens Tech.

Senior second baseman Alex Kokos went 1-for-3 in the contest while Trip McCaffrey was 1-for-2 at the plate in his Rowan debut.

The Profs got their lone run in the fourth when McCaffrey walked, advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Jared Marks, moved to third on a passed ball and eventually scored on a wild pitch by Stevens' starter Chandler Brierley.

Ryan Mostrangeli saved a run for Rowan at the top of that inning, when he threw out Thomas Paulich at the plate, as he tried to score from second on a hit by Tom James.

Your 2020 Profs:

3B Ryan McIsaac........ Big-bat transfer from the community college ranks, the Profs have had tremendous success recruiting from the talent-rich community ranks in NJ, and McIsaac appears to be the next big-bat to join the list.
RF Jason Bobiak....... A promising freshman last season from HS baseball powerhouse Gloucester Catholic, Bobiak will finally get the chance will show his potential in the line-up on a daily basis
2B Alex Kokos.......... Captain Kokos has been a force at Rowan since he stepped on campus, the Profs will have a seasoned leader on the field in Kokos who has been a starter almost in ever game of his career
1B Mitch Walker....... Walker had a phenomenal junior season after joining from the community ranks. He will be a leader on the field and one of the most dangerous hitters in the NJAC this season.
DH Michael Manganella..
LF Ryan Mostrangeli....Another transfer from the community college ranks and starts immediately in the outfield. Interesting to see how he adapts to the NJAC schedule.
PH Eric DiDomenico.....
LF Brian Hoversen..... Promising freshman who may see playing time early in his college career.
CF Trip McCaffrey..... Transferred to Rowan after two seasons at UMass-Lowell. Hopefully a change of scenery will help McCaffrey show-case his potential.
C. Jared Marks......... Marks will get first crack at the catcher position
SS Nick Schooley...... Schooley has big shoes to fill at the SS position but he brings sufficient experience to the plate to provide leadership at this critical position for the Profs.

02/24/2020 | Rowan Baseball Update

Per Rowan Athletics : Former Rowan standout Andrew DiPiazza has signed a contract with the Colorado Rockies, as announced by the pitcher on his social media account.

This is the third Rowan Prof from their 2019 squad to sign with an MLB team

The righthander was a two-time ABCA All-Region and two-time All-NJAC selection while playing for the Profs. During his senior season in 2019, he went 6-1 with a 3.03 ERA and 85 strikeouts, and opponents batted just .200 against him. He ranked second in the NJAC in strikeouts while his average of 12.89 strikeouts per nine innings was the ninth-best in the NCAA.

In 2018, DiPiazza compiled a 7-1 record with a 1.49 ERA in 10 starts, and limited the opposition to a .184 batting average. He totaled 78 strikeouts on the year and tied the school record at that time when he had 15 in a win over Ripon.

Kinda quiet on this board.  Rowan is off to a good start in 2021. Some of the seniors are back after the Covid shortened 2020 season.  Transfer Ryan Murphy has taken over the big hitter role for Rowan this season (hit 3 HR's in his first 4 Rowan games). Overall the team is looking solid and should fight for the NJAC title.

Rowan had a phenomenal 2021 season. Was great to see their progress through a tough NJAC season, NJAC tourney, Regionals, and up against the best at the World Series.

Plenty of building blocks should return in 2022 for another run to the D3 WS.

A lot of senior laden teams with lots of players returning for a fifth year. Rowan had a lot of seniors who were key contributors but a good core returning.

Rowan has had a solid 2022. They were the NJAC in-season champs, but were eliminated in the NJAC post season tournament.  They rebounded with a 3-0 victory in the regional.  In a few days they kickoff the super regional against #1 East Conn State

This is certainly possible. As is often the case with state schools, there are lots of things to consider, including whether Rutgers would allow/want another D-I in the state, all of the funding issues, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if schools such as Rowan pursue agreements with D-I schools just in general, which may or may not affect athletics. St. Joe's in Philly just merged with University of the Sciences in Philly. Are other Philly-area schools looking for such partnerships, whether in the form of a merger or otherwise? There are lots of possibilities in play.
