Emma, we took a trip to the BWCA this past summer, a first time for my wife and daughter.  We caught tons of fish and had a blast.

Those are some great fish. Took my dad fishing for the first time in years. It was a great time. Hope it continues for y'all through the years.

Go Frogs!

Thanks!  Our daughter loves to fish but lacks the patience, so this was her first time targeting fish bigger than panfish.  She did very well and caught her fair share of walleye and landed that nice pike by herself (with a net job by Dad).  She thought she had snagged a rock, so she handed me her rod to free it up, but as soon as I felt a head shake, I gave her the rod back and coached her to land it.

There's not much better than a fresh meal of fish in the pristine wilderness!

Wow, great photos- thanks for sharing. BWCA!!  You have a beautiful family.
My daughter fished as a kid, but never went on one of the trips until this year. She flew in from NY (first year out of college) and joined us for her first Canada trip. Three of the days were rain/wind and 50 degrees- and she loved it all.

How big was that Northern. 12lbs?

No clue on weight.  My son's was pushing 34" and my daughter's was about 32".  The Mrs. had a 30" that was proportionally the thickest pike I have ever seen!

The FBS championship game has shades of the '93 game between SJU and MUC.

Ice understands what Keith and Greg are trying to say here...but to Ice, the title and focus on UMUC being one of many who don't win a Stagg Bowl...is way off the mark and somewhat of an insult to the rest of D3. Ice says, the parity has improved, a tad. Yet to infer that we are all (over 230 something of us) in the same place as a team that has won 13 national championships since 93 is simply too much IIBHO. To Ice, maybe a hair was raised because UMUC was not the clear favorite, yet they still gave the NCC a hell of a game in the Stagg Bowl...yes the UMUC in the Stagg again. Ice says they are still UMUC and D3 still sits with a handful of teams, maybe two handfuls at the most, that even have a prayer to win it all. Ice says is there parity compared to 8 years ago? Sure, a little. Does Ice enjoy that parity? Ice says **** yes. However, Ice says to put UMUC as the poster for representing all of us because they lost the Stagg...Ice says he doesn't buy it and/or feel it at all. Ice says he could maybe see, "...we are all Pomona-Pitzer" or even a stretch, "...we are all Wheaton" (whose pedigree admittedly sits higher than most).

Ice says with all due respect to UMUC and the top 5-10 teams in D3 (because Ice certainly respects all of those top programs), we are not any of them. Ice says the CLEAR MAJORITY OF US are, Springfield, George Fox, MMA, Augustana, Eureka, Luther, Bluffton, Rose-Hulman, Hampden-Sydney, Southern Virginia, Hartwick, CNU. Umass-Dartmouth, etc.

Ice says go ahead, hammer him here for being too literal or too sensitive. Honestly, he's not upset, he just thinks a headline like that is so blatantly off the mark that he felt the need to point it out.

Ice Bear I thought the same thing. I've got another one for you that happened several years ago when MUC won it all. The headline was something like "The Seniors Finally Get Their Ring" as if playing at Mount Union means that you for sure will get a ring and the seniors on that team almost missed out.

Maybe I'm not remembering that quite right but it has stuck with me. This latest headline that Ice Bear is pointing out hit me in a similar way.

BDB, you need to say it in Ice Bearese:
