Those who have "done the math" and rated the Pool C contenders (see the Pool C board under Multi-regional topics) suggest that Oswego is still in pretty good shape to this point. I think there would have to be a few more upsets to really put them in trouble.

I do take pause however given Plattsburgh's situation in previous year.

The Lakers were #5 in the east on Wednesday.  Is one win over Plattsburgh worth that much?

Cortland wins 77-74! What a comeback again! SUNYAC 3????

Yes Sunyac 3 bids!!!

Are we sure about this?  It would seem Rochester and Plattsburgh are going to keep Oswego away from the table for awhile.  Not a good day for the bubble...

Much thanks All-Time. I must admit, the Sunyac family has never been stronger. After game Oneonta coach Medici wished Bengal coaches the best of luck and encouraged Bengals coaches to " go get em" in the playoffs!! Friday night, before tip-off, New Paltz coach Rejniak walked down to Bengals bench, and offered Bengal coaches condolences and mentioned how tough a year it's been for all of Sunyac. After game ( which was attended by over 2,000 people and every media outlet in WNY), along with Bradleys family (who were recognized at halftime), Rejniak encouraged each Bengal coach and player to win Saturday to get to the playoffs!  Class act by both coaches this weekend under difficult circumstances for everyone, and especially a visiting team!

I'm honored to be part of the SUNYAC fellowship like the 1 we have here fellas.  Honored and proud to know all of you!

#playforbradley!!!!

In the SUNYAC family vein, before last night's Plattsburgh/Geneseo hockey game, Plattsburgh presented a check to Geneseo for $1500 as a donation to the Geneseo Volunteer Fire Department in honor of Matthew Hutchinson murdered earlier this year.  It's been a rough year across the SUNY family, but as with any stong family, the adversity has only made us stronger.

New Regional Rankings have been released.

Plattsburgh State hangs onto their #1 ranking.

#1 Plattsburgh State
#2 Rochester
#3 Geneseo State
#4 Brockport State
#5 Oswego State
#6 NYU

Here's a link to the entire regional  rankings:

As I think they should have.  This looks about right, save the Lancaster Bible question.  For the record, the schedule you play has to count for something.  I don't have a problem with them not appearing in the NCAA rankings...

Terrible, selfish play by Cardinal player Jonathan Patron to get tossed from the game.  He threw the ball at the official after a foul call and deserved the ejection.  Oswego has gone on a 14-4 run since to make a one point game an 11 point game with 9:03 to go.

edit:  Now it's a 25-9 run...

He didn't throw the ball at the official he passed it to him rather firmly. Jon wasn't happy as that official had called him for 3 rather cheap fouls that were all highly questionable. He called 2 fouls on him early in the first half about 50 seconds apart limiting Jon's 1st half court time to 3 minutes. Then he calls another cheap foul on him and that's what precipitated the technical. Jon was getting banged pretty good inside with no calls on his end, so naturally he was upset at getting his 3rd foul from this same ref. Normally most refs would call a technical but I can't remember the last time time I've seen a ref eject someone from a game for being unhappy over a call and getting a little pissed off. This ref had Jon in his crosshairs from the moment the game started as he was an official at a game in Plattsburgh a few weeks ago and had words with the Coach concerning Jon, at that time. This ref was out to lunch the entire game and made a number of poor calls against both teams. He is without a doubt, the worst referee that has officiated games in Plattsburgh in the 40 plus years I've watched games in Memorial Hall. If we never see him again it will be too soon.

Having said that I don't think the 3 best refs in the world would have made a difference in the game tonight as Oswego State, and particularly Brian Sortino, were firing on all cylinders. When you nail 18 three pointers in a game and shoot better than 56% from downtown, you are usually going to win. Hats off to Oswego.

He "passed it to him rather firmly"?  That's your defense?  I watched the game and while the officiating was less than ideal, players passing the ball that "firmly" at the official should be at least a technical every single time.  I am a Card alum, but the glasses aren't completely rose colored.  It was a one point game at the moment that happened and became a blowout afterwards.

Sorry, to me that play is inexcusable.  That said, there hasn't been any discipline issues with this team all year, so I would chalk this up as a bad night and move on to bigger and better things.  Maybe, just maybe, we'll get another shot at the Lakers...

It is baffling to me that a team in the East like Lancaster Bible doesn't get in over a team that has 6-7 losses. I mean if a team that is undefeated cant get into the rankings that tells me the NCAA has to go back to the drawing board and find different criteria. Another example Penn St Behrend a team who was 19-1 going into the rankings in the Great Lakes cant get into the top 9 in there region!! I just think its a bit ridiculous that NCAA is rewarding teams that have a bunch of losses over teams that win the games on there schedule.

I get the SOS factor but reward teams that win there games. Its not like these teams can just go join the NESCAC or UAA OR SUNYAC.

Lancaster and Behrend also ranked top 15 and top 25 in the D3hoops poll.

rant over.

would love to here what people think

SOS has to be a factor.  In the case of Lancaster, their SOS is so weak that it does overcome their record.  I think it's widely believed that the teams ranked above them would probably have the same record if they played Lancaster's schedule.  Hey, if they win their league, they'll get their shot to prove everyone wrong...

Well, I was still hoping Plattsburgh would sneak in with one of those last Pool C bids.  It's been eye-opening getting more into the Division III basketball process.  As with hockey (which I follow more closely), if you don't win your conference, you have no one to blame but yourself!  See you in 2015-2016!

Good luck to the Lakers in the tournament!

Looking like the East will not get any Pool C bids this year if Fisher wins the E8, Plattsburgh wins the SUNYAC, and Skidmore wins the Liberty League. I think if Fisher loses in the conference tournament they will be on the bubble because of there low SOS numbers but i think they will ultimately get in tho. Despite the great record.

If Fisher, Plattsburgh and Skidmore all win their leagues and NYU beats Brandeis Saturday, NYU very well might be the first East rep and that maybe enough to get them in late in the process.  However if any of those 3 teams lose, NYU is definitely out and the East probably gets no bids (unless Fisher is the one that lost).

Figures Plattsburgh is the one to prove you right!

With brackets coming out in about 14 minutes I still cannot decide Plattsburgh or NYU from the East. NYU numbers are just better but I feel like the committee is going to have Plattsburgh in the field. Guess we will see!

I believe they mentioned on last night's projection that they knew  Plattsburgh was #2 and NYU was #4.

So I don't post on the d3 BB board at all, but I'm curious after reading the Pool C board on the other thread that Plattsburgh isn't mentioned at all, even in the post about Pool A team's shot at Pool C.  Do they have to win the tourney to get into the NCAAs?  Would the East Region really not get any at-large bids?
