Things are never as good as they seem and things are never as bad as they seem.

Carthage totally dominating the game from a stats perspective: 385 yards of total offense to 142 for Lakeland.  Yet Lakeland winning in the most important one - the score: 28-23 half way through the 3rd quarter.

29 yard TD pass from Jones to Koeneman, missed extra point.  Carthage up 30-28.  What's up with all the missed extra points this year?  Seems far more prevelant this year...

Jones 31-44 for 347 yards and 3 TDs.

Mr. Ypsi

At the end of the third, Carthage had a 27-7 lead in first downs, and a 505-154 lead in total yardage.  Since each team had only one TO, it is mystifying how the score could be so close. ???

That is what I'm waiting to hear.  Now that the Wheaton game is over, I'm going to dive into the play by play to see if it was long kick returns.  I assume the one Carthage turnover resulted in a short field TD since Lakeland only has 150 some yards.

Ah... that will do it.  Lakeland has a 86 yard kick return for TD and a 55 yard INT return for TD.  That's half the picture.  So how'd Lakeland get the other 14 points?

I'm on it...

Lakeland actually in the midst of a drive.  Down to the Carthage 5.  3rd and goal.  43-28 Carthage.
