I'm surprised Massey has IWU over #11 Wash U, even with home court advantage.

That game between IWU & WashU will be a fight to the finish.  Augie plays them later in the non-conference part of their schedule in St.Louis.  Along with UW-Stevens Point and that has the makings of a very tough non-conference part of the schedule.  The CCIW should get a lot more respect from the media as one of the toughest conferences in the country.  Maybe 3 maybe 4 teams get in if their record is sufficient.  5 teams from a New England conference got in last year.  I'd like to see the CCIW get hyped up like the east coast conferences and see that the CCIW gets its just due.

Yes, so looking forward to the Wash U - IWU game . . . and Emory in ATL later on too.  I tough stretch of games for my TITANS.
WashU-IWU games always hard-fought.  Two great programs going to the mat.

AndOne

North Central 83
Aurora          68

* Connor Raridon with an all time NCC single game record 13 Assists vs 0 Turnovers.

Senator Alex Sorenson with a huge double-double of 29 points and 15 rebounds.
Mike Pollack - 17 points (4/7 threes), all in the 2nd half.
Erwin Henry - 15 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists.

With 12:15 left in the 2nd half and Aurora holding a 57-50 lead, a minor miracle occurred. North Central went into a 2-3 zone. I'll say it again. North Central went into a zone. Hard to believe, I know.
However, that zone was just what the doctor ordered as the Cardinals played the seldom employed defensive alignment almost perfectly, and gave the Aurora squad fits. Beginning at 12:15, Aurora was held without a field goal until the 4:52 mark, making only 2 FTs during the interim, and being outscored by NCC by a margin of 16-2.

NCC shot 51.7% compared with Aurora's 37.7%, and out-rebounded their hosts 42-33.

The Cardinals renewed acquaintances with Nick Chambers who played at North Central last season, but transferred to Aurora this year. In his 12 minutes of relief duty, his former teammates held the 3 point specialist scoreless.

Maybe it's me, but I don't think the CCIW really suffers from a perceived lack of respect. I know at least internally we all talk about how it's a gauntlet so maybe there's a bit of an echo chamber, but I'm pretty sure at least on a more national level the CCIW there's no issue with disrespect. This hasn't been a one bid league in a decade, and a CCIW team has made at least the Elite Eight every year since 2010.

Also, considering D3Hoops ranked the CCIW the best conference in D3 just over a year ago...

I agree on the general respect nationally for the CCIW -- lots of good teams going far in the tournament over many years.  No question league play is a gauntlet.  Will be the same again this year.  EC and MU likely much improved.  No one really wants to play WC if Samuelson and Francis get hot.  Augie and NCC just loaded.  Whom ever comes out at the top has been through a test.

Augie up 59-23 at the half. More importantly Coach G's jacket has stayed on the entire time.

One has to wonder what would happen to it if the score were reversed.

Pictures, or it didn't happen...

Maybe the jacket will come off at The Shirk on January 3rd.  :)

AO, that game by Sorenson vs. Aurora, now that's the kind of monster game, "going off" that I was talking about earlier.  He's done that vs. IWU in the past.  Surely showing his All-American credentials with that performance.  Raridon is so smooth, such a good fundamental player, hard to contain.

Happy holidays to all CCIW chatsters.

I don't think it's an "if", more like the over / under on the when.  I would put it before the "first media timeout" at the 16:00 minute mark the jacket will be off.

Now, I thought the same thing when Augie came to Naperville last year, but the jacket lasted almost 15 minutes of game clock before it came off. The most likely outcome is probably somewhere in the middle of that.

70, you could always do what I do and try to get a pool going for when it comes off... :)

It's funny that you didn't mention the team that beat you at home as you quickly reviewed the league's 'tests.'

Just watched the Wheaton vs. Elmhurst highlights on Wheaton's website, and Aston Francis never ceases to dazzle. He will take any shot from any place in any scenario, with the ability to make all of them. How many D3 players have a fade-away jumper of that caliber. He might be a volume shooter, but he is the best heat-check player I've seen in D3 in years. I know it's easy for CCIW followers to kind of take his scoring prowess for granted when you see it regularly, but he is my favorite player to watch nationally.
