NESCAC tournament field officially set, first conference tournament for 2016:

Quarterfinal round 2/20 @ higher seeds; semifinals and finals 2/27-2/28 at the highest seed remaining after the quarterfinals:

#5 Colby (14-10, 6-4) (75)
@ 2/20 3 PM
#4 Conn College (17-6, 6-4) (66)

#7 Bates (9-14, 4-6) (29)
@ 2/20 2 PM
#2 Amherst (23-1, 9-1) (82)

#6 Williams (17-7, 5-5) (50)
@ 2/20 2 PM
#3 Bowdoin (19-5, 8-2) (73)

#8 Middlebury (11-12, 3-7) (36)
@ 2/20 2 PM
#1 Tufts (21-2, 10-0) (68)

#2 Amherst (24-1, 9-1)
vs. 2/27 4 PM
#3 Bowdoin (20-5, 8-2)

#5 Colby (15-10, 6-4)
@ 2/27 2 PM
#1 Tufts (22-2, 10-0)
In the NCAA picture: Tufts, Amherst & Bowdoin are locks and will be picked up fairly early on; Williams was #5 but they lost twice this week, and Conn College was #9; they did beat Williams but probably too far back to jump ahead of them this week.

LEC set.  I'll update the picture later tonight.  All 8 teams in; quarterfinals 2/23 @ the higher seeds; semifinals and finals 2/26-2/27 at the highest remaining seed after the quarterfinals.

#8 Plymouth @ #1 Eastern Connecticut, #7 RI College @ #2 Keene State, #5 UMass-Dartmouth @ #4 Southern Maine.  These 3 teams have the men's team hosting as well so these 2 games will begin at 5:30 PM.
#6 UMass-Boston @ #3 Western Connecticut is just playing a single game after the Western men completely screwed the pooch losing to a 4 win team on Wednesday and now because of it open on the road instead.  This game will begin at 7.  This was also the same matchup in last's year's tournament (was in Boston) and was also the lone game that wasn't part of a double header.  So, since the other 3 games will be about over by the time this one begins, at least the loser will be one of the last 5 teams left playing for the 2nd year in a row!

#8 Plymouth State (6-19, 0-14) (58)
@ 2/23 5:30 PM
#1 Eastern Connecticut (19-6, 11-3) (68)

#5 UMass-Dartmouth (17-8, 7-7) (61)
@ 2/23 5:30 PM
#4 Southern Maine (14-11, 8-6) (58 [overtime])

#7 RI College (7-16, 5-9) (58)
@ 2/23 5:30 PM
#2 Keene State (21-4, 10-4) (70)

#6 UMass-Boston (14-11, 6-8)
@ 2/24 6 PM
#3 Western Connecticut (16-9, 9-5)

#5 UMass-Dartmouth (18-8, 7-7)
@ 2/26 5 PM
#1 Eastern Connecticut (20-6, 11-3)

#6 UMass-Boston (15-11, 6-8) /#3 Western Connecticut (17-9, 9-5)
vs. 2/26 7 PM
#2 Keene State (22-4, 10-4)

NACC tourney field is set. Just waiting on seedings. Top two seeds have byes to the semifinals.

1. Concordia Wisconsin (CUW has the head-to-head tiebreaker over WLC)
2. Wisconsin Lutheran (WLC has the head-to-head tiebreaker over MSOE)

3. MSOE (MSOE has the head-to-head tiebreaker over Aurora)
4. Aurora
5. Lakeland
6. Benedictine

Quarterfinals

#6 Benedictine (15-10, 12-8) at #3 MSOE (18-7, 15-5) Winner faces #2 Wisconsin Lutheran (18-7, 16-4)
#5 Lakeland (14-11, 13-7) at #4 Aurora (15-10, 14-6) Winner faces #1 Concordia Wisconsin (20-5, 17-3)

With how the NACC shook out this year, it could be wider open than in previous years (Wisconsin Lutheran has won the last 5 tournament titles and has won 15 straight NACC Tournament games).

NACC Semifinals

2/25

#4 Aurora (16-10) 66 at #1 Concordia Wisconsin (20-6) 63 (Season Series: Tie 1-1)
#6 Benedictine (16-11) 52 at #2 Wisconsin Lutheran (19-7) 70 (Season Series: WLC 2-0)

Again the NACC throws a curveball as Concordia Wisconsin (#6 in the Central Region) falls to fourth seeded Aurora. That means Wisconsin Lutheran hosts the NACC Title game for the sixth straight year.

Opening round Tuesday:
#1 Bluffton - BYE*
#2 Rose-Hulman - BYE*
#6 Defiance @ #3 Franklin
#5 Mt. St. Joseph @ #4 Transylvania

Friday at Bluffton
6:00pm Bluffton vs. MSJ or Transy
8:00pm RHIT vs. Defiance or Franklin

Saturday
5:00pm Championship

*At the end of the regular season, Bluffton and RHIT were tied at the top (16-2), and Franklin and Transy were tied at 3/4 (14-4). Neither tie could not be broken by the first four tie-breaker steps (head-to-head, performance against the rest of the conference, conference road record, and record against common non-conference opponents), so a coin flip broke the Franklin/Transy tie in favor or Franklin, which in turn broke the Bluffton/RHIT tie in favor of Bluffton (by virtue of Bluffton's sweep of Franklin in the regular season).

Final
Bluffton (25-2) 52
RHIT (23-4) 46

Keene is #7, but they are probably going to get blocked by Johnson & Wales, so I wouldn't be surprised to see the Warriors nab the conference's lone bid.

#119
2017:

The NESCAC has 1 game remaining in its regular season (Bates @ Williams Sunday) but the 8 teams are set for the conference tournament.  Amherst (1 seed), Tufts (2 seed), Bowdoin (3 seed) and Middlebury (4 seed) are locked into their respective seeds while the 5 to 8 seeds will be determined by Sunday's game, but no matter who wins Conn College, Colby, Bates, and Williams will be joining those first 4 in the quest to grab the pool A bid.   Quarterfinals are Saturday, February 18 at the higher seeds; Semifinals and finals are Saturday-Sunday 2/25-2/26 at the highest seeding remaining after the quarterfinals....aka at Amherst.

The NESCAC tournament is set:
#6 Conn College (16-8, 4-6) (47)
@ 2/18 3:00 PM
#3 Bowdoin (20-3, 8-2) (72)

#7 Williams (15-9, 4-6) (40)
@ 2/18 4:00 PM
#2 Tufts (23-1, 9-1) (58)

#5 Colby (12-11, 4-6) (48)
@ 2/18 4:00 PM
#4 Middlebury (17-7, 6-4) (39)

#8 Bates (9-15, 3-7) (35)
@ 2/18 4:00 PM
#1 Amherst (24-0, 10-0) (76)y

#5 Colby (13-11, 4-6) ()
@ 2/25 2:00 PM
#1 Amherst (25-0, 10-0) ()

#2 Tufts (24-1, 9-1) ()
vs. 2/25 4:00 PM
#3 Bowdoin (21-3, 8-2) ()
Semifinals 2/25 at the highest remaining seed at the conclusion of semifinal play
Amherst, Bowdoin & Tufts are absolute locks for the NCAA tournament.  Conn College was looking decent (#7 in New England) until they lost twice in Maine over the weekend to Colby & Bowdoin.  Now they probably have to make the finals which will mean beating Bowdoin & Tufts.  Middlebury (#10 in New England) is in worse shape than Conn College as their quarterfinal opponent (basically .500 Colby) won't do anything to help them, so I figure they have to win the tournament.  Williams, Colby & Bates need the automatic bid to get in.

The 1 seed in the Little East has been won by the Eastern Connecticut Warriors for the third straight year.  Seeds 2-3 will be Dartmouth & Keene State with an order still to be determined.  All 8 teams qualify.  Quarterfinals Tuesday, February 21 at higher seeds; semifinals-final Friday-Saturday February 24-25 at the highest seed remaining after the quarterfinals.

Update: LEC tournament field finalized:

#7 Southern Maine (5-20, 4-10)
@ 2/21 5:30
#2 Keene State (18-7, 11-3)

#6 UMass-Boston (9-16, 5-9)
@ 2/21 5:30
#3 UMass-Dartmouth (21-4, 11-3)

#5 Plymouth State (8-16, 5-9)
@ 2/21 7
#4 Western Connecticut (14-11, 6-8)

#8 RI College (5-20, 2-12)
@ 2/21 5:30
#1 Eastern Connecticut (18-7, 12-2).
For pool C implications: Keene State (#8) needs a lot of favorites to win their pool A's.  An Eastern/Dartmouth final will be interesting.  Since the last rankings came out, Keene has a win over Eastern Connecticut, is that enough to push Dartmouth back in front of Eastern (Eastern was 5, Dartmouth was 6 last week) even though Eastern has 2 wins head-to-head??  That could be the difference between the LEC getting 1 team to getting 2.  They definitely aren't getting 3 teams, but I think they have a pretty good chance of getting 2 teams.  IF Keene wins the tournament (beating Dartmouth & Eastern) I think Eastern would be a pool C team; IF Dartmouth beats Keene but loses to Eastern for a 3rd time I think the Corsairs would sneak in as one of the final selections.  What's good for both Dartmouth/Eastern is assuming Babson wins the auto qualifier, Bowdoin, Tufts, Amherst whichever 2 don't win the NESCAC A should be off the board fairly quickly (probably within the first 4 rounds: if Bowdoin wins the pool A, Amherst & Tufts will likely be 1 & 2 off the board) which will put the LEC team on the board from rounds 3 and on which'll help their chances of getting multiple teams.  Of course, that's assuming all favorites win which NEVER happens!
