I know I'm a bit late to the party on this one--I just listened to the archived SJU-Gustavus MIAC playoff game--but I'm a big fan of Bob Alpers doing color with VOJ.
Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

I agree....Imagine how great a football webcast could be with a former player or two adding commentary.  It would give insight to the program and would be an opportunity to further promote the tradition of SJU football and athletics.

Does anyone know who the Concordia ex-player featured in the Enterprise commercials is? (Can't find a link, sorry, but it is playing ubiquitously during the NCAA D1 tournament TV coverage.)

Erik Johnson.  Tougher to recognize without the 'fro.  http://wwwp.cord.edu/dept/sports/winter/mbb/johnson_er.php

another blurb from Concordia, we have a new frontrunner for the "All Name team"

Brodie Running, 6-foot-6 senior forward for Roosevelt and SD Heat, has committed to play basketball at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn.

Concordia making some waves. Add that commit to:

6'7" Adam Nibaur from Willmar
Austin Rund from Fergus Falls
Joel Carter (Willmar), Kevin Wolfe (Sartell) and Adam Jensen (Sauk Centre) ... latter two are both 6-8

Kilroy -
How's recruiting for a couple of the new coaches in the league at SMU and Bethel?

I've heard Hamline has about 5-6 commits and they're pleased with what their class could end up looking like.

Hmmm...the committee certainly thinks the name has good potential.  Brodie "Forrest Gump" Running.  :D

I'm gradually falling out of the loop with high school basketball. Did they play the annual HS All Star games this year? if so, I missed it.  Perhaps  AO, Kilroy, or Jimhoops could post the names of the players in the games and we could start filling in the gaps and list where those players are going to college next fall.

The names escapes me at the moment, but I heard a nice post player out of Sibley HS in Mendota Heights is going to Hamline next year. Jimhoops - is this one of the players you were referring to?

It took me a day to remember :P but the kid's name from Sibley HS is Mark Pumper.   Reminds me a bit of Connor Nord from UST, but with more explosiveness & closing ability around the basket.   ;) Now if he would just stay motivated.

There must be some mistake, Kilroy--- I don't see anyone committed to Macalester  ;)

nice, thorough list!

jimhoops1234

Board is dead and has been for quite some time.

Thought I'd break the silence and throw some info out there.

Bethel has a chance to give UST a run next year. Addition of Bridge Tusler and Kyle Zimmerman getting another year gives them a boost inside and out.

The following players will all NOT be returning to SMU next year
Evan Pederson
Trent Vix
Johnny Spillane
Ben Meyer
Brandon Larson

The loss of Pederson and Vix is huge to the backcourt. Lots of minutes there. 5 guys leaving after year 1 for Coach R is not a great sign. Also heard there may be a freshman or 2 not return.

SMU will bring back Mark Schumacher after a year hiatus. Be interesting to see how long it takes him to get his legs back. Was a very good high school player and had some good games as a freshman.

Johnnies will have 40 guys on roster to choose from, so they'll always have talent.

Gusties were young last year and will have some key guys to replace but Hansen and his motion O will always shoot a good percentage and guard you.
