Carroll has assembled quite a schedule: http://www.gopios.com/schedule.aspx?path=mbball

Yep, quite a bit of tough OOC competition. The TBD game on 12/29 will be against either Drew or Stockton.

This didn't get mentioned last week when the press release came out, but Chris Martin is stepping down next spring as CCIW commissioner after 17 years on the job. Chris has served as our first full-time commish, as his two predecessors, Jack Swartz and Merle Chapman, basically did the job on the side while serving as administrators at their schools (Wheaton and Millikin, respectively).

Joe, are you going to be the one to coax Dennis Prikkel out of retirement to take the job?

I wouldn't want to lose the friends I have in the CCIW.

Joe, do not worry.  Your friends, like myself, will always be in your corner.  :)

Elmhurst has lost the services of 6'5" F Justin Fox.
A freshman last season, he basically functioned as EC's sixth man. Fox started 10 games, and was one of only six Bluejays to play in all 25. He averaged 3.1 RPG, and 5.7 PPG on .509 shooting.

As it was told to me, "Justin is a farm guy who decided he wanted to take agricultural related classes which really aren't too plentiful at Elmhurst." Accordingly, he has transferred to UW-Platteville. 🏀

If anyone at any of the CCIW schools knows anything, they're evidently not telling. 🤫 😏

Jordan Robinson is enrolled at North Park. Forget all of that nonsense that Mark posted here about Jordan a couple of months ago, because Jordan was never going to play anywhere other than NPU this season. Whether he will play for the Vikings this season is still up in the air at this point. That's a matter of how diligent Jordan is about his schoolwork.

I really hate that we have to talk about this, and it has nothing to do with the fact that this is a North Park student-athlete we're talking about. After all, nobody's immune by virtue of his institution. Over the years, every single school in this league has had a starting player for its men's basketball program have to sit, if not leave school, because he failed to make grades. In fact, Jordan Robinson isn't the first, or even the second, CCIW MOP who's had to deal with academic ineligibility. But it's one thing to talk about a student-athlete's academic situation when he or she is a D1 athlete, because an athletic scholarship makes him or her more or less a public figure. It's another thing to discuss this on the D3 level, where a student plays sports as a matter of personal desire and not as a scholarship requirement. It doesn't seem right to me to have his or her privacy invaded like this. But it is what it is, I guess. The horse is out of the barn, and, in a sense, Jordan Robinson is the victim of his own ability. If he wasn't talented enough to do anything more than sit at the end of the bench on a CCIW men's basketball team, nobody would even notice if he suddenly vanished because of grades.

Nick Coleman is also missing from the 2018-2019 roster.

Coleman had a nice sophomore campaign and started last season OK before disappearing in the second half of the season.

Zach Knobloch no longer with the Titans it appears...

https://www.iwusports.com/roster.aspx?path=mbball&roster=214&

After being at Wis-Whitewater in 2016-2017 and IWU last season, it appears Knobloch now has a chance to play for his third school in three years. 😗

I sense that after transferring from Whitewater, Knobloch wound up not playing as much as he anticipated. However, with last season's emergence of Jason Gregoire who played quite well, his diminished PT is understandable. And, Knobloch was basically a one dimensional player, a three point specialist who wasn't of much value when he wasn't on. Gregoire, on the other hand, is a more accomplished ball handler and passer, in addition to having shot a better percentage, both overall and from three. Also, in the games I saw Knobloch play in person, And in some that were streamed, he appeared to be somewhat of a defensive liability due largely to his lack of much appreciable foot speed. I don't think this will be a big loss for the Green Machine.

As WUPHF advised, also apparently gone is would-be senior guard Nick Coleman who, after doing some pretty impressive work two years ago, virtually disappeared last season when it seemed he spent a large chunk of time in the coach's doghouse.

Lastly, IWU seems to have lost the twin towers of 6'7 225 Ethan Pogge, and 6'8 240 Hayden Monix. Two ships that passed in the night. 🌙
