I'm to lazy to go back and find it, but I do remember stating the fairly obvious 5 weeks ago.  St. Olaf, which started 5-0, would finish 5-5... lol   and I live in Northfield... I get a lot of looks at the gas station and grocery store with a SJU Football sweatshirt on or my SJU Football license plate..   ;D

You better watch it.  Those inclined to being angry may show up and protest you.

EDIT:  This is another of my protest favourites...

I had a vague recollection that Don Beebe was coaching D3 but it was just on the WIAC board that I realised he coached Aurora.  He's got one of the best "never give up" plays in NFL history to his credit.  Apparently he's been a great coach since his playing days finished.

Yeah he has done wonders in his first year at AU. Zimbelman shattered the single season TD record with 51 TD's (next closest is 34). Aurora is probably kicking themselves that they lost to Hope in a tight one. They could've been hosting if they could've finished off the comeback.

Pat Coleman

We interviewed him on a podcast during the offseason and there was a span of a few weeks where it seemed like we were talking about Don Beebe and Aurora all the time.

So only 19 of the 32 team field are ranked and 13 are unranked. It will be interesting to see how many unranked teams survive round 1,2,... Oh well, It was a great year and the playoffs will be fun to watch. It looks to me like the Johnnies got a great draw. They should easily make it to the Semi's and then have a great chance to beat either UMHB or UWW.

Easily make it to the semis? Good luck with that. No more Concordia Moreheads left to play so the Stagg should be a cakewalk

1 TD for Bethel in 8 quarters against SJU & UST. Woof! I though the Tommie D (especially the secondary) was vulnerable too. Erdmann and Veldman sure made them look like it.

Solid finish for UST today. A two score win with a backup QB

That was on my mind as well - coming into the year, I thought that the offense would be on more solid footing, and that the defense would have taken a further step back.  In reality, the defense wasn't as far off of last year as I expected.

The offense seemed as expected early on, and against lesser opponents, but was quite exposed against SJU and UST.  They moved the ball at times against both, but couldn't  finish drives.  Lots of receiver experience lost to graduation after this year, but they do seem to have a number of interesting younger guys at the position on the roster.

Looking forward to watching the playoffs unfold...SJU - Wheaton will be a doozy, I think.

Also - based on the way things worked out, if BU had won, would they have likely been left out anyway?

Pat Coleman

We would not have projected Bethel into the field even with a win, no. And unfortunately, that's more because of SJU losing to Concordia than anything else -- it means Bethel's loss is to a lower-ranked team in the regional rankings and sets them back behind similar teams who were 0-1 vs. RRO.

Easily is an exaggeration, but the C-M loss was a total fluke.  SJU outgained them 581-249.  You replay that game 9 more times and I'd bet SJU takes all 9 of them.

Welcome Back MUC!

Agree Duff! Total fluke!

In fact If SJU doesn't make it to the Finals, Gary should probably be fired  ;D
