From Cortland's web site. Zaccardo signs with Phillies. He should have been drafted, but at least he'll get a shot.

So far his shot has been limited to one game. He went 0-for-2 in a limited appearance last month and he hasn't made the line-up since.

Bryan Burke (Kean 2008; Frostburg 2007) has now played 19 games with the Texarkana Gunslingers of the Continental Baseball League. His numbers:

Guess there's a reason he didn't make the line-up. The Phillies released him.

Kenny Moreland from CNU, another quality start for the Bluefield Orioles (Rookie League), 6 innings, 6 hits, 6 K's, no runs, but no decision.

Moreland is 2-3 on the year, and seems to be getting better every outing.

Good for Kenny.  He showed me A LOT in regionals when Hopkins got to him early and then he just shut the door on them the last 7 innings.

Kurt Yacko (Chapman University)
Casper Ghosts Rookie Pioneer League(Colorado Rockies)

Yacko can only control what happens on the field and do the very best with the assignment he is given  by the Rockies.  He certainly appears to be doing both.
It is curious why the Rockies do not/did not challenge him by placing him with their NWL team which is short season A, rather than Casper which is short season Rookie.
He is a pretty high pick with very good tools.  His ability to pitch won't  be challenged much in  the Pioneer league, which has many young Latin players and many signed from high school.

That may be the Rockies plan.  Let him get a feel, build up confidence, then move him up.  Let's not forget he was a junior in a DIII school with the tools like you said and they may just want him to have that same type of success he had at Chapman to start his career.  Move him along slowly because of the tools he has.  Who knows, but he will move with those numbers, I would think.

It looks like he has had trouble only against Helena, where Vass plays.

Every organization is different, that is for sure.
But Yacko had totally dominating numbers last summer in the Northwoods league, maybe even better than with Chapman.
I would think a pick in the top 10 rounds coming from college, who has shown plenty in a top Summer league would be with their NWL team.  Maybe they have him working on a new pitch and/or new approach and wanted him to gain confidence.
Either way, his stats pretty much prove he has not much to prove in the Pioneer league.

His numbers are real nice.  Can't he be moved up anytime?

Ronnie LaBrie (Lynchburg College) has his average over .300 for the GCL Nationals and got his first pro dinger earlier in the week.

szlongball

Jordan Zimmermann (UWSP) improved to 6-2 and lowered his ERA to 3.25 tonight with the Harrisburg Senators(AA). Rumor has it that he will be making the move to AAA very soon.

Nice article on the LC web site about LaBrie:
http://www.lynchburg.edu/x13517.xml

QuoteRecent Lynchburg College draftee Ronnie LaBrie (Vinton, VA/Staunton River), drafted in the 38th round this summer by the Washington Nationals organization, has been playing well in his first taste of professional baseball.

As of August 5, Labrie is hitting .338 for the Nationals Rookie League affiliate, the Gulf Coast Nationals, based in Viera, FL. He has played 24 games at third base and has an on-base percentage of .421 and a slugging percentage of .463. LaBrie has scored 21 runs, driven in 15 and has stolen six bags in 80 at bats.
