In looking at the NJAC this year there are a couple of things to know as there has been a lot of changes since Montclair State won the conference championship last year. Some of the best players to ever play in the NJAC are gone. Colofranson from Stockton is gone and the trio of Terci, Olla and Damian graduate from Montclair. There has also been some movement inside the conference with Ramapo's first team all conference forward Ryan Campbell having transferred to Rowan along with another former Ramapo stand out Modou Sowe.

Top Returners

Rowan returns six all-conference players from its 2016 NCAA Tournament squad, including junior forward Shane Doherty, senior forward Travis Ward, senior midfielder Jake Conners, senior midfielder Tyler Logar, junior goalkeeper Kyle Dennis, and the 2016 NJAC Defensive Player of the Year in junior back Will Sjaastad. Also, first team all conference forward Ryan Campbell having transferred to Rowan along with another former Ramapo stand out Modou Sowe.

Rutgers-Newark returns six all-conference players from its 2016 NJAC regular season championship squad, including senior back Arek Szoldrowski, junior midfielder Breno Lustosa, sophomore goalkeeper Andres Medina, senior midfielder Carlos Castro, senior back Isaiah Kuris, and the 2016 NJAC Rookie of the Year in sophomore forward Fabio De Sousa.

The Red Hawks return a pair of all-conference players from their 2016 NJAC championship team in junior midfielder Rafael Terci and senior back Mike Taranto.

Rutgers-Camden returns four all-conference performers from its 2016 ECAC Tournament squad, including senior forward Aaron Muse, senior midfielder Brad Maine, senior midfielder Darnell Brown, and the 2016 NJAC Goalkeeper in the Year in junior net minder James Brett.

The College of New Jersey return one all-conference player from the 2016 season in junior goalkeeper Dan Walsh.

Kean returns one all-conference player from its 2016 NCAA Tournament squad in junior back Nicholas Sica.

Ramapo returns a pair of all-conference players from its 2016 ECAC Tournament squad in junior midfielder Trevor Albrecht and sophomore back Justin Charkowski.

WPU returns four all-conference performers from its 2016 ECAC Tournament squad, including sophomore forward Keysean Brant-Sharp, sophomore midfielder Darwin Cruz, senior midfielder JP Gonzales, and junior back Zach Perez.

3)Kean
4)Trenton
5)Montclair

7. Kean
8. Ramapo
9. William Paterson
10. New Jersey City

franklyspeaking

TCNJ roster is up and it is a bit confusing.  Not a lot of upperclassmen numbers.  5 SR, 7 JR and only 3 soph.  That seems very light, what happened to the freshman class last year?  Good year to be a freshman I would think.

Unless Kean picked up some serious talent, I would be extremely surprised if they finished in top 5.  And Montclair always seems to reload their talent so I'd move them into the hunt for 1-3 finish. Did CNJ officially go back to Trenton State (lol)? And given what's returning for Camden, they should be able to finish higher than WPU and 'Po

In the last 9 years, Camden has made it to the NJAC final six times with four titles.   Have only missed the playoffs in 2009 and 2010, both on tiebreakers.

I do not see them finishing any worse than 6 and for the most part, I agree with the Coaches Poll.   Camden has owned Newark over the years and have not lost to them since 2012.  I'll back consistency over hype.

1. Rowan (7) returning class and MSU at HOME.
2. Montclair State (1)
3. Rutgers-Camden (RUC has MSU and Rowan at home, should get a DRAW at RUN).  Struggle at TCNJ on the road...
4. Rutgers-Newark (RUN has MSU and Rowan on the road)
5. The College of New Jersey (dark horse)
6. Stockton
7. Kean
8. WPU
9. Ramapo
10. New Jersey City

Didn't Kean pick up a new coach this year? The adjustments might be difficult to adapt to this season.

We are only a few weeks into the season but lets take a look.

SCHOOL   CPTS   CONF   OVERALL
RUTGERS-NEWARK   0   0-0   5-0
STOCKTON                0      0-0   5-0-1
ROWAN                   0      0-0    5-1
WILLIAM PATERSON   0   0-0   5-1
NEW JERSEY CITY   0   0-0   3-1-1
THE COLLEGE OF NJ   0   0-0   4-2
KEAN                    0      0-0   2-1
MONTCLAIR STATE   0   0-0   3-2-1
RUTGERS-CAMDEN   0   0-0   2-3-1
RAMAPO                   0      0-0   1-3

It looks like Newark and Rowan are both back and strong. Stockton tied Arcadia tonight and haven't beat anyone good yet. They are pretenders!
What jumps out the most here is Montclair sitting 3rd from the bottom. I watched some of their game against Messiah and they didn't look anything like the teams that won so many games over the last 3-4 years. Rutgers Camden is in real danger of missing out on postseason play.

Camden needs a win at newark to save their season...already

So Camden got run by Newark and now face Montclair to try and change the momentum of this season. The tide has turned in the NJAC with Rowan and Newark clearly taking over from Camden and Montclair. I'm curious about the academic standards at Newark. They seem to be able to get kids eligible that wouldn't be anywhere else.

Newark is loaded with kids from St. Benedict's, which has been the #1 or #2 HS team in the country for like the last 20 years.  I'm not sure it's academics or they're simply getting quality in the door.

Also found these fun facts...
Rutgers-Newark is a Much Larger School: (11,720 vs. 6,408 Total Students)
Rutgers-Camden is Slightly More Difficult to Get In: (58.4% vs. 64.6% Acceptance Rate)
Rutgers-Newark Offers Slightly Cheaper In-State Tuition: ($13,597 USD vs. $14,000 USD)
Rutgers-Camden Offers Slightly Cheaper Out-of-State Tuition: ($28,890 USD vs. $28,987 USD)
Rutgers-Camden Provides Much Better Freshmen Financial Aid: (95% vs. 81% of Eligible Freshmen Receive Aid)
Rutgers-Newark Students Graduate More in 6 Years: (67% vs. 55% Graduation Rate)
Students at Both Institutions have the Same Median Post-Graduation Salary: ($54,500 USD)
Rutgers-Camden Has Slightly Smaller Class Sizes: (12:1 vs. 14:1 Student-Teacher Ratio)
Rutgers-Camden Has Slightly Hotter Summer Weather: (77 degrees Fahrenheit vs. 75 degrees Fahrenheit)
Rutgers-Newark Has Slightly Colder Winter Weather: (34 degrees Fahrenheit vs. 38 degrees Fahrenheit)

you forgot to add the one about Rutgers Camden having 6 NJAC Championships to Newarks 0.
Newark is also 2-10 in the last 12 games against Camden.
Could also argue Camden is a much safer campus

Looking forward to the most intriguing match of the year in the NJAC: Rutgers-Newark v Rowan. I think it will come down to this game to decide who wins the NJAC this year.

Rutgers-New Brunswick is struggling dearly in the Big Ten, maybe they could use some kids from the Rutgers-Newark team!

Rowan beat Stockton 3-0 tonight, probably could of been more.  Rowan definitely had the better of the play, Stockton did have a break away early in the 2nd half that could of made it 2-1 but the shot was wide left.  Who knows if that would of made it a different game.  This was my first time seeing Rowan in person this year, I didn't realize how tall they are.  Stockton has had a good start to the season, there schedule isn't the toughest, hopefully they can brush this one aside and keep going because they could still finish in the top 4 of the conference and see what happens in the NJAC tournament.  Would be interested in seeing the Newark / Rowan game, they are both the top teams in the conference this year.

Absolutely nothing to do with the game, but you have -- in my opinion -- the best username on these forums.
