Haven't been on the board in a while but had to come say congrats to Randolph Macon! And to win by 30 in a national championship is very impressive! Josh Merkel is a great coach and good guy and deserves all the success he is having. Happy for the Yellow Jackets! Now I need my Marlins to hurry up and get back to the tourney!

I'm sorry but I'm having trouble wrapping my mind around this. Is the committee really telling us the ODAC is a one bid league? Essentially VWU had to beat Randolph Macon to get in....lost to RMC twice. So that means the other 3 losses (one in double OT, one in the final seconds) were so inexcusable that they only way they got in would be to beat a top 3 team nationally. What a slap in the face not just to VWU but to the whole conference

And I'm going to have to wait another year....color me shocked smh

An impressive 72-57 win for R-MC over VWU. The defense was tough, as usual, but the offense was more in sync than what little I saw yesterday. Having Miles Mallory back was definitely a huge help.

Congrats to VWU on a great season. Hopefully it's not over for them. Also, here's hoping the Jackets get to host next weekend.

Yes congrats to RMC on the chip! They have been rolling all season. It looks like my Marlins have a decent shot to make it seeing as they were ranked in the region and had 2 of their 5 losses come to a top 3 team nationally. I'll just be glad to hear that we ended the tourney drought!

Gonna ride over to Va Beach with a bunch of other RMC Alums tonite to the Fish Tank to watch the game .....tall order for our Jackets in their house . I have nothing but respect for Coach Macedo and what he's done there and we will be lucky to come out of there with a win! Better bring our "A " game tonight!! GO Jackets! Havent heard much from DeWayne this season.....bet we will if the Fish win tonight! ;) ;) ;)

Been busy with my own basketball season but I'll be watching! My favorite ODAC matchup, VWU vs Randolph-Macon! Both teams are ranked and playing well so it should be another instant classic! They only meet once so I'm sure they will leave it all out on the floor tonight! Good luck to both teams!

HSC landed a former Arkansas State walk-on who is 6'8 and related to Luke Hancock

Speaking of Luke Hancock, he was verrryyy close to being a Marlin. If not for him opting to go to Hargrave for a prep year its believed that VWU would have been his choice

Daniel spencer has transferred to virginia wesleyan university. From what I hear he has already enrolled and is taking summer classes there. Also not sure who but heard another returner for E & H has transferred to Lynchburg. Anyone have any info on these incoming freshmen names I'm about to put as far as skillsets .

Lynchburg- Kavon James from va beach (how did he get away from the marlins)
VWU- Miles Wallace from atlanta GA and Jordan Crump from Richmond.

These are some of the names ive seen on twitter committed to these places. We post more as I hear them.

Was listening to an interview from Coach Macedo and he said that they saw the Wallace kid playing on ESPN against IMG Academy. Pretty cool story. Also, pretty big that the Spencer kid is coming over. Hopefully that type of impact player can end VWU's tourney drought!

Brayden Gault to Roanoke is going to be big for them as well. Coached against him and watched him alot when he was in high school and he was a very good player. Good size, can really shoot it, just is really good at scoring the basketball. Looking forward to another fun ODAC season!

Lastly, VWU's schedule just came out and I think its a travesty that they only face Randolph Macon one time! I guess they've hit that part of the cycle but thats a game I believe needs to be played twice a year!

Two big games tonight -- VWU at R-MC and GC at Lynchburg. If R-MC and Lynchburg (the home teams) win it separates them a bit at the top of the conference standings. Any other outcomes makes things a bit tighter. Roanoke should win at home vs Randolph, as should W&L vs SU, to help keep it even more interesting at the top.
Being the ever optimistic Quaker fan I am, if RMC and UL both lose, then GC is tied with them in the loss column, but would have three head-to-head wins over the Yellow Jackets and the Hornets.  :)

Hope my Marlins can pull off the miracle in Crenshaw tonight. I always looked forward to traveling to RMC to play, was the best home court atmosphere in the ODAC IMO. There were some BATTLES in that gym between Virginia Wesleyan and Randolph Macon in Crenshaw, most notably in 08 when TonTon Balenga hit a deep three with Jordan Brown draped all over him to seal the game and the Elite 8 game when RMC missed a shot at the buzzer to send VWU to the final four in 2015 I believe? Coach Merkel and Matturo are both really great guys. But I gotta root for my Marlins on this one!

R-MC lost an exhibition game at D2 Virginia State yesterday 75-67. The Jackets shot 39 three pointers and took 32 two pointers against what appears to be a taller team (four guys 6'7" - 6'9" logged 10+ minutes for VSU). Twelve made threes (vs seven for VSU) is probably what kept the score as close as it was.

This looks like RMC is gonna be a force to be reckoned with this year. VSU is a top 10 D2 team in the country going into the year. ODAC looks to be a battle like always

Pete Hamilton has done a great job. Great guy as well. Got to give him and Randolph credit for beating my Marlins. Didn't see the game back was very shocked. Seemed like they may have turned a corner only to have their season end this early. Welp. More time to get back in the gym as individuals and get VWU back to where we used to be. Still have faith in Macedo.

These last 2 games loom large for seeding for the ODAC tourney. RMC at 11-3 has 2 tough ones vs HSC & W&L, E&H at 10-4 has WLU and EMU, VWC at 9-5 has Randolph and Bridgewater, and Roanoke at 9-5 has Randolph & HSC. W & L and Guilford both at 9-5 have E&H/RMC and Lynchburg/Shenandoah respectively. This week is promises to be a wild one, and next week looks to be even wilder in the ODAC!!!

VWU knocked off both RMC and GC this week. Has the light come on for the Marlins? We'll see. With 2 winnable ball games left vs Bridgewater and Randolph, the Marlins could potentially end the season with 4 straight wins, and with wins in 7 out of their final 8 games. Macedo is a big proponent of playing your best basketball in this time of year, so the Marlins could be a team that no one will want to play in the ODAC tournament. Looks like Roanoke will have that distinction as well, winning 7 straight games.

Also, I see that EMU has named Melvin Felix as their head coach going forward. Congrats to him! I've had the pleasure of meeting him and speaking with him over this last year or so as he has been recruiting a couple of the players at the high school I coach at. EMU is getting a fine young coach

The two games that loom large tomorrow: GC at E&H and RMC at VWU. An RMC win and an E&H loss, or vice versa, would leave one team alone in first. Will E&H, after losing its last two on the road, bounce back and get a win at home? If Roanoke and VWU win and GC and W&L lose there will be four teams tied for 3rd place at 8-5.
Or if E&H and RMC both lose and GC, VW, RoC and W&L all win ... there will be 6 teams within 2 games of each other with 3 games to go.  Last week and a half to play should be interesting.

By the way, I attended tonight's GC at E&H game.  The Quakers looked sharp and played without customary starting Forward Alston Thompson who got a concussion midway through last Saturday's game at RMC.  I am hoping he will return for this Saturday's VW at GC game.

I have seen both GC vs E&H games this year ... the Quakers looked better this time and the Wasps did not look like the world beaters I saw Jan. 3.  I think this year's ODAC tournament is wide open.

I definitely agree. I can easily see the top seed in the tourney losing in their first game. RC beat LC last night 100-74. RC was up by 20 with 8 minutes left in the first half and didn't look back. RC has been playing lights out the past 2 weeks...if they can keep playing like this they have a good shot to make some noise in the tourney. RC's final three games are against W and L, Randolph and HSC.

Interesting enough it appears that out of the top teams in the league, RC appears to have the easiest schedule left and could slide into a tie for the 3 spot if Guilford (who has been playing very good the past couple of weeks) loses to VWC on Saturday and RC wins (Guilford holds the tiebreaker though).

Didn't get to see VWU vs RMC but judging by thje 56-54 score, it looked like the typical, hard nosed, defensive struggle type of RMC vs VW matchup I've been accustomed to. The Marlins defense hasn't been up to par all year but if they can hold a team like RMC to 54 points, hopefully that gives them confidence on that end of the floor vs everyone else and will allow them to shore up their biggest weakness. Macedo always preaches playing your best basketball towards the end of the year/ODAC tourney time so lets hope this springboards VWU into playing their best basketball!

Anyone have any idea what's going on at Bridgewater with regards to their top 2 returning scorers from last year-Saylor and Boggs?  Neither has played a minute this season yet they are both on the roster still.  I saw the JMU exhibition early in the year and they were both shirt and tie on the bench.  Injuries, suspension, discipline issues?  The loss of these 2 players has really been glaring so far for BC.

Philip Baumgartner
Jesse Case
Paul Brown
Romello Crowell
Efe Balfour
Essex Thompson
Joe Lewis
Maalik Howard
DJ Caldwell
Hunter Dotson
Cameron Thurston
Logan Seacrist
Brandon Walters
De'quan Whiting
Trenton Ray
Kevin Jones
Norman Barnes

Add to the list:
Bryce Boggs
Kevin Saylor

19 guys in 2 season have transferred to a different school or quit basketball altogether. What is the common denominator here? Shawn Postiglione. The verbal abuse and unfair treatment of players has led to poor team chemistry and mistrust between players and coaches. None of the above mentioned players deserved what they've gotten. He's forced out multiple all-ODAC quality players and has lost two more this year in Boggs and Saylor. Neither player's actions deserve the treatment they were handed and no other coach would have put them in the position he did.

Don't let their current record fool you, the state of Bridgewater basketball has ventured down a dark path.

This post is very misleading. When Coach Postiglione took over, the men's basketball program was in dire need of a rebuild. Many of the individuals you listed were walk-ons and fill-ins during their first season, as well as players left over from the previous regime, and there are definitely no All-ODAC players on this list.

Coming from a donor, the alumni base is very pleased with Coach Postiglione's progress on the recruiting trail. Having watched this years team play on several occasions, it is obvious that serious strides have been made with the overall ability of the players and in terms of building a winning culture. This team is leaps and bounds further along than the past two years teams were. Large turnover is very common at the Division III level, especially when there is a coaching change at a program. With seven freshmen and six sophomores, as well as an impact transfer in Horde, a roster made entirely of Coach Postiglione's first two recruiting classes, the future is very bright in Nininger Hall.

Additionally, this sounds to me like a post written by a jilted parent or player, and doesn't make a whole lot of sense when you look at the level of play exhibited by the team so far this year.

Great post, coach..

Each of Postiglione's first two years has been the same story..."this BC team is being led by great freshmen and sophomores and the future is very bright..." only to have all of those promising freshmen and sophomores transfer out and this year is no different. Half of the team will be gone again in the off-season and you can take that to the bank. So far, who has BC beaten in ODAC play? Last place Randolph and EMU, each by single digits. Horde, I'll give you has been a stellar pick up for them, but don't be misled by great play against struggling teams.

This post is neither a jilted player nor parent, just someone who knows what's going on and has seen it going on for long enough. But hey, if the alumni base is "as supportive as you say..." then I guess they will enjoy 1-2 years of great young talent before it being ran off to another school.

Not a coach. Posting from Connecticut. Just an avid supporter of Bridgewater Basketball.

I'm not sure if you've been following, but big win on the road Saturday at Guilford, and a convincing win tonight over Virginia Wesleyan at Nininger. Go Eagles!

Right, whatever issues they're having can't be too bad. They just thumped my Marlins smh

The three teams that were undefeated in conference all won tonight by decent margins -- E&H at GC, VWU at HSC, and RMC at home over SU. W&L, also undefeated in conference, plays at Lynchburg tomorrow. BC eked out a one point win in OT at EMU.

Surprising result in that E&H vs GC game. Also, Bridgewater and W&L are both near the top of the standings. Still very very early in ODAC play but this year again looks like a wide open conference
