Men's soccer / 2016 Tournament MVP
December 01, 2016, 04:33:26 AM
I thought it might be a good idea to discuss some of the best individual performances so far in this tournament, in an attempt to decide who might be the MVP thus far.

Base solely on statistics here are a few names from the final 4 teams:
- Josh Ocel (Brandeis) - 1 goal, 4 assists (out of 10 total goals); 1 goal and 2 assists in the quarterfinals
- Mike Lynch (Brandeis) - 3 goals (out of 10 total goals); 2 goals in the quarterfinals
- Bobby Mcgraw (Calvin) - 4 goals, 1 assist (out of 8 total goals); 1 goal and 1 assist in the quarterfinals
- Tony Kuplic (St. Thomas) - 5 goals (out of 9 total goals); 2 goals in the quarterfinals
- Nathan Majumdar (Tufts) - 2 goals (out of 5 total goals); 1 goal in the quarterfinals
- Dexter Eichhorst (Tufts)- 1 goal, 2 assists (out of 5 total goals); 1 assist in the quarterfinals

While I've seen all of the final 4 teams play so far this tournament, Brandeis is the only team I've seen play more than once, so I'll add the workhorse Zach Viera and GK Ben Woodhouse to the discussion. Also, considering Tufts has yet to concede a goal this tournament, Scott Greenwood definitely deserves some consideration too.

Men's soccer / 2015 NCAA Tournament Standout Performers
November 16, 2015, 06:38:38 PM
Through the first two rounds who have been the top individual performers and that we should be on the lookout for in the upcoming rounds?

I've got a homer nomination: Josh Ocel from Brandeis. He's been the most threatening and dominant player offensively for Brandeis and has been a part of 2/4 goals so far for the Judges this tournament. In the first round he scored the game winner (4th on the season) in the 89th minute off a beautiful 25-30 yard shot. In the second round he had the assist (10th on the season) on the first goal off a wonderfully served free kick.

So far on the year Ocel has scored or assisted on 14/29 of the goals that Brandeis has scored. Their success in these last few rounds is directly dependent on his performance.
