Not a lot happening right now in CCIW land, so from a loosely associated D3 connection, interesting to see the beats all talking about Leipold as a top candidate for the I-L-L job.  Personally, and from a more direct CCIW association, Jeff Monken would be cool to see, though I'm not sure how service school recruiting would translate to B10.

I don't see Monken getting the job, though his ties to Illinois football (whole family is HS coaches, grew up in Joliet, played at Millikin) are strong. Problem is he has always been in a triple option offensive scheme. He was at Georgia Southern with Paul Johnson and then the HC there. Not sure he is a viable candidate but would love to see it.

Wheaton fans

I watched a Christmas special on PBS last night put on by The Wheaton College orchestra and chorus. What a really professional performance. Well done by a group of very talented students. Most enjoyable!

Several nights ago, I watched a performance by The Hope College (Michigan) orchestra and chorus. It was also outstanding. Nice to see our D3 schools getting some air time. Who needs big names for these types of broadcasts? D3 students are just as talented! 🎼
I'm old! I get mixed up and I forget things! Go Everybody! 🏈 ☠

In other news, former Thunder OL signs with the Seahawks:

Glad to see this.  He dominated all the big men he faced and had a little trouble with the smaller D linemen that he will not see in the NFL.  I wouldn't be surprised to see him have success in the NFL as he has size speed and strength with decent technique.

Hmmm. To be honest, he had a great and dominating year as a Junior, was pre-season AA going into his senior year and then played so poorly he was benched as a senior. He really didn't factor into the Thunder's season his last year. Always has had the tools to be D1/NFL. Hopefully he has it figured out in his head and can make a splash in the NFL.

He was cut from the Seahawks 12/22 after being signed 12/17.

Very sad news...

@IWUTitanFball
The @IWUTitanFball family mourns the loss of alum Jeff Jerome. Jeff was a 3x letter winner and co-captain of the 2014 team. Our thoughts and prayers will continue to be with the Jerome family. #RIP92

"Both defending NCAA Division III national champion North Central and league power Wheaton have opted out of spring games. Both plan to have a normal spring practice season but not participate in games in the makeup season."

So NCC is playing one game. Interesting.
And no Wheaton.  Very curious as to how all that was determined.

My take on it is they have a large number of 5th year seniors who planned on playing last fall and almost all of them are taking the year off to come back in fall 2021. That and with their QB playing basketball, it's really a question of numbers and avoiding injuries that may leak into the fall in a game schedule. So doing their own thing via practices and intrasquad scrimmages, they can control the contact a bit more.

I'd like to have seen a game or two at least but I understand the sentiment as Wheaton will be stacked this Fall.

I liked your idea of JUST a bell game.  I imagine NCC had similar thoughts with just playing Carroll.
