The SCIAC board shows some predictions that CMS might pull off an upset.     Look at the four common opponents:
                              Whitworth            CMS
Puget Sound            45-13                   35-45 lost
PLU                          55-13                     7-10 lost
LaVerne                   38-2                     37-24
Chapman                 31-28                     16-9

Whitworth will be hyped up, just like they were for Linfield.      Whitworth  40-10.

GT

Chapman is the only result that supports the upset argument. The others are a widely in favor of a comfortable Whitworth W.

Whitworth 35 - 7

You see that final NCAA Regional Rankings?

Strength of Schedule

1). Centre   .579

2) .UWW     .573

3). LINFIELD   .565
just keep in mind the Carroll game isn't factored into that....

I think we'll be seeing an all D3 schedule for Linfield next year.
a little "R & R"--Redlands and Rowan?  Any chance for a 3rd non-conference?  I also hear that our live-streams may be headed towards HD (fingers crossed).
Go Cats!

Still GT, all those stats and a 5 point differential.

One of those throws in the end zone completed and it's a1 point win - pending the outcome of the XP.

Not expecting them to beat SJU but I think they'll give SJU a stiff game.

I've entered the statistics from Whitworth and CMS into the Viscarian Football Projection Application I found on line on the Dark Web. (not available to most regular people) It projects a complete hologram of the entire game including cheer leaders and pep band songs that will occur at the game (along with a streaker in the 2nd quarter that ran over the popcorn machine on the sideline). I had to tweak several of the parameters because there may be chili eating contest nearby at the Pine Grange Hall that may affect the weather patterns in the area. Unfortunately after waiting 2 days for all the computations to formulate I received an error message that said the game was canceled do to a herd of goats that had eaten the field. I will try again later this evening for a better result.

True story.  Back in 1999, I was a freshman at SJU, and I was not on the playoff roster.  At that time, the field was grass, and there are a lot of deer on campus that liked the tender grass of the field.  Well, my work study job that year was with the grounds crew.  I don't recall exactly who we played that day--UW Stevens Point, I'm pretty sure, but the field was covered in deer crap, so I got the call to grab a shovel and clean up.  I took a lot of guff from the opposing team while they were warming up.  Thankfully, we won.

Oh my... I know exactly what deer crap looks like.... it's black pellets about 100 spread out in a pile. You should be awarded a medal of honor... LOL!

Playoff selection questions:

1.   Why should every conference champion automatically earn a bid?
Last year, these conferences failed to win a playoff game: MASCAC, HCAC, USAC, MWC, NACC, NCAC, NEWMAC, ODAC, CC, UMAC, CCC and SCIAC.

11 teams from these conferences were rated by the D3 experts at the bottom of this year's playoff teams.

2.   Over the years, are the same conferences winning very few playoff games?

3.   Were better teams from tougher conferences left out of the playoffs?

4.   Should the playoffs have the widest geographical teams or the best 32 teams?

Because that is in line with the NCAA Division III philosophy.

Exactly Pat... Linfield lost their first game to a mediocre NAIA Team... that was a stain! And then Linfield had their chance to win the NWC and get an auto bid and didn't!.... but I don't think Linfield was a playoff team this year. I think Whitworth is a better team and they proved it. Linfield will be back next year.... JMHO!

I will say that last Saturday this Linfield team finally peaked and they look freaking great. Like playoff dangerous great.  However, the early season stumbles killed their chances and it's the complete season picture that matters.  I wish the 'Cats could have gotten in but I'm not going to freak out about it.  We had our chances early and didn't come through. Lesson learned.

Go get 'em Whitworth!
