umhb2001

UMHB has players from the following

LA: 1
IL: 2
CA: 1
OH: 1
FL: 2
GA: 2

The rest are all from Texas. A few of those numbers above are transfers, so that should be interesting.

dlip thinks more night games would be beneficial for all involved. hsbsballcoach7 touched upon the heat issue, which certainly sucks for fans and most definitely for players. dlip thinks games under the lights not only would provide a cooler setting (both figuratively and literally) but would most definitely draw more student interest (at least at Union where student support is ****).

Here's a link to Heidelberg's roster. They have a lot of Florida guys too.

I also noticed that Heidelberg has 4 night games this year. That's quite unusual for D3.

CWRU has five - two home, three away.  Southwestern has six.

I was very surprised to learn the game between CWRU at W&J in PA is NOT a night game

My understanding is that it has to be agreed upon by both schools, not just what one school decides.
This is not a concept for all of the division

I don't believe its a division-wide held concept.  I have heard coaches complain about playing Saturday night road games, despite objecting to it.  Mostly because the travel following the game.

Only one of W&J's three home games in September is a night game.  Doesn't seem they favor night games.

As I have understood it for years and talking to numerous admins...

Usually conference decide what time games will be conference wide, but allow both teams to agree upon a different time and even date (i.e. moving to Friday night). If both coaches don't agree, it reverts back to the conference mandated time.

Non-conference, sure the home team is going to have more leeway in determining what time they are going to play... but the opposing coach is going to be able to say yes or no as to when that game is going to be played ... or played at all.

That said, the few occasions where I know it hasn't worked out well is when the home team wants to move it to a night game (usually the case) and tells the visiting team their plans. The opposing coach doesn't like the idea, but the plan is being changed at a point where the opposing team has no choice but to go along with the idea. Usually it's a last minute or late change when neither team is going to be able to find another opponent. In those cases, many tend to be for an event and for good reason. Occasionally, it is shady stuff by the home team. It tends to end up involving admins (i.e. ADs and even conference commissioner in extreme occasions) and usually the trade off is the visiting team sucks it up ... but maybe they now have an out of the contract for the home-and-home they signed.

Otherwise,I don't think saying it is not a concept for all fo the division is a fair assessment. Stuff happens as I described, but not like it's a problem or a division-wide issue.

I had a question regarding the Florida thing:

In 2016, Mount's freshman roster listed 19 players from Florida
In 2018, the freshman roster listed 37 players from Florida

But in 2017, there weren't any players from Florida listed on the Freshman roster

Was it a conscious decision in 2017, that they wouldn't recruit Florida? That seems like a dramatic swing

I believe there was one year they made an internal decision not to recruit FL much if at all.  Not sure why.  If I remember right it coincided with a large western PA flavor to that freshmen class like the old days.

The last 25 years (1992 - 2017) in the OAC below is the total number of games lost in the conference

UMU 3
JCU  68
ONU 81
BW 84
OTT 130
CAP 137
Berg 140
Mar 160
Musk 168

I didn't include the Willington in the list they weren't in the OAC forbthevfull 25 years.

The total number of wins UMU has been putting for a long time but their dominance in the OAC is better illustrated looking at loss totals.

It's good to see there are new and creative ways to illustrate Mount's dominance within the OAC. It'd be a shame to let that fall off the radar of D-III fans.
