Two things I don't understand about the Oshkosh search.
Why is the Residence Life Director heading the search?  That's like the AD hiring the Residence Hall Directors.  Maybe they should have the commons manager as the co-chair of the search committee.
Why is it taking so long?  If they are waiting so long to hire because they don't want to pay anyone during the summer, then they are not looking for the right person.  The right person would dive in now and be fine waiting until August to get a check.  They is a prime position.  They need to hire someone high energy and hungry for a chance.  Seems like UWO really has a mess on their hands right now.

That's why only middle-aged guys should keep score.

The Assist is not a Black and White stat and if you have someone scoring that doesn't understand Basketball they will give fewer assists.  Most clueless scorers believe that if there is a dribble there is to be no assist given.  Look at the scorers table at most games.  Either some old dude with no clue or a young punk with no clue.

Straight from the 2007 NCAA Basketball Statisticians' Manual
SECTION 5—ASSISTS
A player is credited with an assist when the player makes, in the judgment of the statistician, the principal pass contributing directly to a field goal (or an awarded score of two or three points). Only one assist is to be credited on any field goal and only when the pass was a major part of the play. The same player cannot be credited with an assist and a field goal made on the same possession.
Such a pass should be either (a) a pass that finds a player free after he or she has maneuvered without the ball for a positional advantage, or (b) a pass that gives the receiving player a positional advantage he or she otherwise would not have had.
Philosophy.
An assist should be more than a routine pass that just happens to be followed by a field goal. It should be a conscious effort to find the open player or to help a player work free. There should not be a limit on the number of dribbles by the receiver. It is not even necessary that the assist be given on the last pass. There is no restraint on the distance or type of shot made, for these are not the crucial factors in determining whether an assist should be credited.

I have seen Grinnel play enough.  When they get inside half court every pass has the intent to find an open player to score.  Look at Grinnell's official stats there is an assist for 65% of the FG's.  LU's team stats have an assist for 60% of the FG's.  Based on that, I would say Grinnel's line is fair.

The Parkside assistant was hired by Superior.  Just what I heard.

For starters, I would not blame the officials for LU losing.  I thought IW was a more talented team.  The officials were consistent, with the exception of the young guy.  He needs to go back to Grade School.  One of the worst college officials I have ever seen.  Now to my point.

If you think the type of game officials call does not affect the outcome of a game, you do not know Basketball.  Ask any Coach.  Excuse me, any GOOD Coach.

IW is a physical, athletic team.  LU is more of a finesse team, with a few minor exceptions.  Officials that call tight would have given LU the advantage,  Officials that don't use their whistles give IW the advantage.  It does not take a genius to figure that out.

Saturday night IW had 26 personal fouls, friday they had 15.  Play the game with saturdays officials and LU still shooting 13-26 from 3.  ???

Heard a rumor that Goucher may have some transfers coming in after semester.  Can anyone shed some light on that?
