From tonight's gala, at the 38:20 mark, you have the two winningest coaches in the history of Ohio [Sorry, Woody] in the same pic.

What are you forgetting former OSU great Carroll Widdoes (1944-45)? 16-2, .889 winning percentage!! Or John Eckstorm (1899-1901)?? 22-4, .810 winning percentage!! Kidding. Although, Tress didn't even have 100 wins. Cooper had 100 wins, and a great record against Michigan. ;D

Congratulations to LK. LK is why I started following Mount way back in 1993....ya know when you had to either go to the game or sort through 20 newspapers for a score (not even a write up). The 332 wins are a major accomplishment - but I have to confess that I am the reason it was not 334. I sent LK an email from Iraq a few days before the semi final game against UMHB. I wished him luck and told him that I had every games live stats on the big board in the ready room (I think they had audio available - but I couldn't get past the firewall). I also attached a pic of me in my deserts with my Raider visor (thus Desertraider!). He emailed back and it wasn't about the game or anything - it was about where I was and be safe and all of that. And of course a thanks for following and supporting the team.

We all know how that game ended: UMHB cheated and tackled 2 Mount defenders in the end zone in a blatant pass interference with 15 men on the field that went uncalled due to a UMHB Coach interfering with the officials line of site by shouting 'gun' and 'hey I am sleeping with your wife'....THIS IS MY STORY!!! I blame my email for the loss and the win in the Stagg against Linfield that was sure to follow. It distracted him. I am sorry. If not for my email...it would be 334-23-3 and 12 National Championships. Sorry Coach....and Congratulations.

***Next week: The story of how ONU broke into Mount's locker room and replaced the cleats with 1/4", then flooded the field and released the small pox virus on Mounts campus in order to win in 2005. A thrilling tale indeed.***

Forgot to mention that last 2 times Mount scored 70 in a playoff game...they lost the following week. Ugh.

(Get ready...pontification coming)

Larry Kehres is the greatest coach in our most recent era (1980 to now), if not ever.  He is the most gracious, accommodating coach as long as you aren't the media.  He has always been a red ass (people that know, understand what I am saying), but has done everything he can to make sure his players are successful in life, and on the field.

Anyone who was around during the 1987-@1990 era saw this first hand.  Coach Kehres knows what needs to be done and doesn't have time for anyone who isn't going to do the job the right way.  After the success of the 1985 & '86 seasons complacency and and entitlement set in.  Upperclassmen were benched for underclassmen who outworked them, and the team improved.  LK told a senior friend of mine who lost his position to a sophomore, "It's nothing personal, you're a great guy.  He's a better football player.  It's a business decision."

desertraider,

I am also responsible for some of the Mount Union Losses.

2016 Lost to JCU - I was in attendance
2005 Lost to ONU - I was in attendance
2004 Lost to UMHB - I was in attendance

I am no longer allowed to attend games at Mt. Union Stadium, unless it is against a perennial bottom feeder.

All,
I can't recall NCAA rules relating to flying teams, (Mount to Oshkosh?)
If yes, how will LK get there? ;D
Sherb

Not sure if this is what you're asking about, but at 500 miles the NCAA flies the visiting team. As far as LK getting there, usually there are spots left on the plane for a chosen few.

For instance, last year for Oshkosh, our President (JCU President not US ;) ) went on the plane, as did the team Chaplain.

I am to blame for 1994 B-W and 1995 UWL losses.

MUC57

Talk about being responsible for certain losses. The four years I was here, 1953-1957, (53-56) football seasons, Mount won a total of 10 games. Throw in the two years prior, for 6 years, they won 14 games.
Hey, no one feels worse than me. But you know,we older alums, have enjoyed these last years more than you can imagine. Always proud to be a Mount grad. Go Raiders.

Word on the street is that LK likes to STAY on the street.

My first Stagg Bowl on the sidelines was their first loss to UWW.  By the end of this thread, we'll see his winning percentage, if not for us, should be 1.100.

Luke Poorman will be in Oshkosh and in case you haven't heard, LK gets on planes for that kid.  I'm sure it'll work out.   :)
