Nash and the offense do present a challenge but I'm sure the LG's offer their own set of challenges for the HSC defense. I have no idea what to expect but I do pray the game lives up to all the hype. Traveling to Wabash, first game of season is by no means the typical season opener, but I guess that is why this opportunity is so exciting to the kids and respective fan base(s).

A lot of, probably most of in fact, the focus on this game is going to be about Nance vs. the Wabash defense, but you're right, H-SC's defense will have their own challenge here.  Both of Wabash's big RBs will be back and I would expect a lot of running game (try to play a little keep away from Nance).  Passing is honestly kind of a question mark for me at this point.  Wabash didn't throw a ton last year...both a product of scheme and situations (average halftime score last year was Wabash 31.7, opponent 5.2...so, yeah, not many attempts).  WR is kind of an interesting spot and one of maybe two areas where I don't know exactly who or what to expect (specialists being the other).  I assume Houston Hodges will play both sides again this year.  Drake Christen got my attention last November and I think could be a really, really fun player this year.  There are quite a few young receivers who had to wait behind a lot of seniors last year who we'll get to see for the first time on Saturdays.  The experience though is going to be on the OL and in the backfield and I would expect Wabash to lean on that experience in this important game.

Sounds like Wabash will be loaded. Will be interesting to watch the matchups on both sides of the ball.

With Holmes and Zurek back, I wouldn't be surprised to see Grant Klembara and Matt Gibson, who did a good job at running back last year, playing wide receiver along with Drake and Houston.  I expect to see a lot of ball control offense ala Wittenberg in the fourth quarter of 2012 to keep the Nance and Walker flying circus off the field. I also expect a lot of good old Wabash "Hard Hat D" in the game.  There may be a surprise or two like Rice/Belton running a bit of wildcat offense, or the new freshman running back who is coming off a 2,000 yard plus year if he is ready for prime time.

A Saturday afternoon in early September is going to be toasty.  Conditioning is going to be the real key to the game.  The LG's are working hard this summer and I have no doubt that the H-SC Tigers are as well coming off of last season.  Depth will also be factor.  The team that with the best bench that can bring fresh legs in the game will have an advantage.

Honestly, I'm probably not going to like the look of the finished product, but it's all about the message with him. It always has been. That's going to strike a chord with his kids and that's all that matters.

Hopefully #3 and I will get to see CC, down my way at the Swamp in Gainesville on Sept. 6th.

Wish CC the Best

Coming from Richmond, I'm guessing?

Indianapolis and then you're about an hour drive over to the College.

I have flown from IAD to Indy a couple of times, easy flight that was not to expensive. I am sure either Dulles or Reagan will have fairly reasonable flight deals if you are willing to drive up here to the capitol region.

September is fast approaching! I cannot wait for those crisp fall afternoons, some rhynie burgers, and a lot of hard hat D.
What I lack in size, I make up for with my lack of speed.

I do the Indy to Reagan trip pretty regularly.  90 minutes gate to gate...super easy.  That would be one advantage of going to and from Indy from DC...I don't know if there are direct Richmond to Indy routes.  I would guess not.

Thanks for the feedback. I don't want to ruin my weekend by fighting the DC traffic so I will avoid that suggestion. Unfortuantely not many cities you can fly direct to out of Richmond, Indy is one you cannot fly direct. I'll get it figured out. Might be best to get some friends and charter a King Air to get us there and back in the same day. Not that more expensive than flying commercial given no need for hotel, etc.

Look forward to the game. I think it will have plenty of hard hat defense from both sides. Just hope it's not too hot.

I heard a rumor that Denison had some issues with the NCAA... I asked about it on a lacrosse messageboard in the post was deleted.  Anyone know what the story is?

Apparently a problem with how financial aid awards were made to student athletes who chose the SAT optional  method of application. Here is a link to the NCAA findings and decision: http://www.ncaa.org/sites/default/files/Denison%20Public%20Infractions%20Decision.pdf
