Redlands and Chapman are recruiting the same base as LINFIELD if you look at the rosters.
Apparently so is St. Johns. The big left tackle #78 Ben Bartch for the Johnnies is from Dayton, OR. There are also a number of Southern California kids on the roster including big play receiver #3 Ravi Alston, who is from Lake Elsinore.

About 8-9 players on Wheaton's roster come from the West Coast as well, either from California or Washington.

Bartch came in as a 6'6" 230 lb TE and is now a 6'6" 305 lb tackle with a legit shot at the NFL draft.  His 4-year progression photos are stunning and amusing!

Alston commented earlier this year that he had just scored his first touchdown since 8th grade.  Apparently, he was stuck behind some real talent at Vista Murrieta High School, and we're glad to have him!

Vista Murrieta plays at the highest level of the schools in California.  There are probably many non starters who would be good at D3.

Dayton??     How in the heck did the Wildcats not get him???   10 miles away!

For a high schooler from WA / OR to go thousands of miles to college speaks to the parent's religious beliefs, I'd say.

I believe it!  Aside from Ravi, I can recall 2 other VM kids being quite good for the Johnnies in the past 5 years or so (Trevor Warner, who now coaches at Ithaca, and Randy Perez).

From what I recall, he has family in Minnesota, so it's not completely foreign to him.  We would like to thank the Wildcats for letting him slip through their paws, though. ;)

From reading some of the feature articles, it sounds like a lot of the teams still standing have several D-1 transfers on their team. Could that be the secret of a deep playoff run in these times???

Paging Brett Elliott. But yes, most quality Division III teams -- regardless of sport -- have people with Division I talent. Some of them began their career at Division I and some did not.

You're right on that Pat... Linfield also had a great halfback transfer from OSU Riley Jenkins. I think he caught the game winning pass out of the backfield.... WOW What memories! I'm glad I can remember back almost 15 years.... LOL!

Riley Jenkins was a stud. He is the best Linfield running back I've ever watched. Simon Lamson is a close second and Thomas Ford is up there as well. If I remember correctly, Riley Jenkins had another year of eligibility, but decided to graduate and move on. Linfield sure could have used him against Whitewater the next year.
