I think we might have broken that Northland news on X last night. I hadn't seen anything about it until someone tipped me off via DM.

Quote from: cruman32 on March 11, 2024, 07:38:09 PMDon't know the exact dates but the first 4 games are:
1.  Bethel College-Mickenzie Tennessee- NAIA-Quarter finalist 2023-There
2.  Westgate Christian Univ.-Houston, Tx,-NAIA-Here
3.  Whitewater- There
4.  John Melvin- Crowley La.-NAIA-Here

Westgate Christian is not a member of the NAIA, and frankly, is hardly a school.

Quote from: Bantam123 on March 11, 2024, 06:11:10 PMDidn't know about this discord until recently. I guess more people here are Eph's fans so I get it. I guess Trinity just needs more active fans here.

I've heard it called a blog, but never a discord. That's new. :)

That would still count as a ticket sold. I too was surprised by the number but I try not to question NCAA Tournament numbers since there is accounting involved.

Are you willing to share your list? Ranked or otherwise?

Maybe -- I would want to do as good a job as possible before committing to a list on paper, but No. 1 remains UW-Platteville against Hampden-Sydney in double OT in the 1999 national title game.

Fontbonne today announced it is closing at the end of the 2024-25 academic year. No mention of what happens to athletics in 2024-25 but Cabrini's experience suggests it will be difficult to field all of their teams next year, if it is their intent to try.

Quote from: Greek Tragedy on March 11, 2024, 10:00:25 AMAnyway, what's up with Brent Cox? Starts and plays about 20 mpg, averages a respectable 10 and 5 during the regular season. Now, he can't buy a minute. Something like 20 total minutes in 4 post season games? Ouch.

Brooks Miller talks about that during my interview with him on Hoopsville and I encourage a watch!

They missed two in a row. One miss, one make, two misses. Trine feasted on Platteville's one-and-one opportunities.

Quote from: rmc1982 on March 04, 2024, 10:00:14 AM... if they were looking at a less expensive option flying two teams into Richmond and busing then 20 minutes( at most) into Ashland is certainly cheaper than busing them 2-2.5 hrs to FarmVille with much less hotel space available....

You're just making driving times up, rmc1982.  Richmond International to Ashland is 29 minutes (not "20 minutes at most") and Richmond International to Farmville is only 1 hour, 21 minutes (not "2-2.5 hrs").  It's not that the distance from the airport even matters to the decision, but at least make your argument with reference to the actual driving-time facts.

By the way, Farmville has had more than adequate hotel space for visiting teams on the many occasions that HSC has previously hosted athletic events, including NCAA sectionals.
Excuse me algernon- from RIC to Ashland is 26.1 miles via I295 with a speed limit of 70MPH, and most people drive about 78MPH, it would take you 20.0769 minutes. HSC is approximately 12 minutes on the other side of  Farmville or approx 1.5-1.75 hrs from RIC. I was a little off....my apologies....and I never said they didn't have more than adequate hotel space in Farmville, I just said there was much MORE in Ashland. Sorry if I ruffled your feathers, or your stripes in this case..🐅🐅🐅...lol Hope your Tigers can win the region this weekend!GO TIGERS!... GO QUAKERS!... GO JACKETS!🐝🐝🐝🐝

Are you letting your rant go? Let me know.

Quote from: markerickson on March 06, 2024, 10:20:54 AMAccording to the Mpls Star/Tribune, FIVE D3 teams from MN lost in the first round ala Elmhurst.  I saw Illinois College won their first round match.  The CCIW had quite a face-plant this year.

Yes, although that is both men and women. The CCIW women did slightly better.

For now, anyway, we removed karma as a drain on resources, yes. Sorry.

Quote from: Greek Tragedy on March 05, 2024, 07:43:03 AMI understand that. I didn't debate that. Where is the confusion? I asked, would you rather have a CCIW title or an NCAA appearance?

It's about nomenclature -- "CCIW regular season title" is not really a thing people say. That is the "CCIW title."

Quote from: Gregory Sager on March 01, 2024, 08:19:46 PMIt's been a forgettable season for this league in terms of men's basketball.

I imagine Bob is fairly happy. I mean, IWU was picked 4th (albeit, just 5 pts off the pace) and finished with an impressive 14-2 Conference record. However, they missed out on the NCAAs, losing the CCIW tournament final. Too many nc losses.

Would you rather have a CCIW regular season title or an NCAA bid with no guarantees you'd get out of the 1st round, like Elmhurst?

A CCIW regular season title is a CCIW title -- that's the one that is recognized. It's not awarded an AQ, but it's the title.

I think so, and also the MIAC wouldn't generally be into having a state school in their league, either.
