Okay, after rereading through the entire original BeltTM thread and remembering that a Diva BeltTM thread existed... I'm going to try to rebuild this history.

Amherst becomes the second team in Diva BeltTM history to keep ItTM for an entire season (Thomas More in 2015-16) and matches its program record of 34 consecutive title defenses. The Mammoths will need to win their first 28 games next season to match Thomas More's streak.

Caz Bombers

surprisingly Amherst only successfully defended The Diva Belt TM twice, against Farmingdale State and RPI, before the upset loss to Eastern Connecticut last Tuesday.

The Warriors immediately ceded The Diva Belt TM back to the NESCAC, losing to Williams on Sunday.

The first title defense for the Ephs will be Friday night at home against Alfred. If they hold it until January 16, Amherst will get a chance to win back what it surely considers to be its personal property.

Caz Bombers

Williams defeated Alfred last night, but gave it up in defense #2 today to sixth-ranked Tufts in non-conference intra-NESCAC action.

The Jumbos put The Diva Belt TM on the line Tuesday evening at home against Bridgewater State.

Tufts get Amherst at home and I believe also now #2 Bowdoin in Medford, so The Diva Belt TM might want to look for rentals in the Medford area because it could be there for a while.  Outside of those 2, I actually think a road game @ Conn College could be their 2nd or 3rd toughest test remaining this year (depending on what you want to make of Amherst this year in the early going).

Caz Bombers

after 6 successful title defenses, D3Hoops #1 Bowdoin took The Diva Belt TM from Tufts yesterday.

The first defense for the Polar Bears will be Tuesday at Husson, but I imagine their first serious challenge will be Saturday 1/26 at home against reigning national champion Amherst, a rematch of last year's national title game and very possibly the regular season Game of the Year in all of D3 women's basketball.

I suppose I should probably put this in chart form.

Bowdoin likely survives their toughest test of the regular season in defeating Amherst so hopefully the Diva Belt TM likes Maine winters!

Caz Bombers

so Bowdoin held The Diva Belt TM until dropping it back to Tufts in the NESCAC championship. The Jumbos successfully defended three times in the NCAA tournament against Western New England, Haverford and Messiah before ceding it to Scranton.

Scranton lost its first defense to Thomas More, who goes for the championship in its final ever Division III game against...Bowdoin.

Jeez, even end days WCW had a more vibrant main event scene than D3 WBB. Speaking of which, in pro wrestling parlance, when "leaving the territory" one is always supposed to go out on one's back, counting the lights, doing the job, etc.

What happens if Thomas More walks into the NAIA sunset as unbeaten national champions? Will they throw The Diva Belt TM in the trash at their first home game in November, as Madusa (nee Alundra Blayze) did with the WWF Women's Championship on Nitro in 1996?

Is the title vacant for the 2019-20 season and handed out along with the 2020 Big Doorstop if the Saints win tonight?

do we recognize Amherst or George Fox as the belt holder coming out of this event? What if Emmanuel and/or CMS win today, do they have a claim? Might need a Triple Threat, Fatal Fourway or a Ladder Match to decide this!

Caz Bombers

so it looks like Emmanuel won yesterday, but Claremont-Mudd-Scripps lost. I propose each team claim its ownership of The Women's Belt (honestly, WWE retired the term "diva" 4 years ago, so can we) and we'll see how long it takes the three paths to become unified.
